A Study on the control of Power Factor Correction Circuit by Advanced Average Current Control (개선된 평균 전류 제어 방식 역률 개선 회로의 제어에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is a study on the control of Power Factor Correction circuit by advanced average current control. The international standard organizations have made an effort to resolve these problems caused by the harmonics and announced the international standards for limiting the harmonic currents of the electrical devices and products. For improving power factor and reducing harmonics, many studies are progressed rapidly. In this study, we explain a method of an advanced average current control. And then, the performances of the PFC circuit applying a advanced average current control method are simulated and verified by Matlab/Simulink.

Development of LED sensor lights circuit by passive power factor correction circuit (수동 역률 보상회로를 이용한 LED 센서등 회로의 개발)

  • In this paper, We studied LED(Light Emitted Diode) sensor lights system using PIR(Pyroelectric Infrared Ray) sensor, CdS and MCU(Micro Controller Unit). And applied the valley fill circuit to improve the power factor. We designed the amplifier for each sensor and the LED driver for constant current which is the buck converter. Also, we proposed the algorithm of LED control by each sensors using MCU. Experimental results showed that power factor is 92% with valley fill circuit.

  • 형광등의 수명은 형광등 안정기의 시동 시나리오와 형광등 전류의 파고율에 영향을 받는다. 본 논문에서는 특히 파고율을 주로 다루며, 파고율을 줄이기 위한 새로운 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 제안하고자 하는 방법은 펄스 주파수 변조기법(Pulse Frequency Modulation, PFM)을 이용하며, PFC(Power Factor Correction)가 만드는 50% 벨리필 전압 파형을 PFM 제어 신호로 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 PFM 제어 기법으로 파고율을 1.7 이하로 낮출 수 있음을 모의 실험과 실험을 통해 확인하여, 제안한 기법의 타당성을 검증한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 2단 AC/DC 컨버터와 단일단 AC/DC 컨버터가 가지고 있는 단점들을 개선 할 수 있는 새로운 준 단일 전력단 컨버터를 제안한다. DC/DC 단으로는 동적 특성이 좋은 LLC 컨버터를 채용하여 별도의 제어기 없이 고정 주파수 및 고정 Duty(50%) 발생기에 의해 Open Loop로 구동 시킴으로써 저가격화 및 고효율화를 획득 할 수 있다. 또한 역률개선단은 Boost 컨버터를 채용하고 간단한 제어기 1개를 사용하여 역률 개선과 동시에 DC/DC 단의 최종출력을 제어한다. 기존 2단 PFC 컨버터와는 다르게 PFC 링크전압을 Feedback 하지 않고 DC/DC 단의 최종 출력을 Feedback 하여 제어한다. 제안된 회로의 우수성 검증을 위해 600W급 시작품을 이용한 실험 결과를 제시한다.

  • In this paper, we propose a digital controller design process for the interleaved type of a boost PFC (Power Factor Correction) converter which can disperse the heat of the switching devices due to the interleaved topology. We establish a mathematical model of a boost PFC converter and propose a controller design method based on the root locus. The performance of the designed controller is verified by simulations. The measurement of the input voltage, inductor currents, and the converter output link voltage are needed for the control of the converter system which consists of a power unit and a control unit where a high-performance 32-bit microcontroller is used. The adjustment of A/D conversion timing is also needed to avoid high frequency noise generated when the switches on/off. It is illustrated by the real experiments that the designed control system with the properly adjusted ADC timing satisfies the given performance specifications of the interleaved boost PFC converter in the on-board slow battery charger.

  • In this paper, a method to cope with short-term blackout is proposed. The proposed method uses a capacitor bank consisting of supercapacitors. A supercapacitor is a good means for short-term energy storage. The proposed circuit is simple and accordingly easy to construct and to control. A prototype is constructed and experimental results are presented.

  • In this paper, author proposes a novel step-up AC-DC chopper operated with power factor correction(PFC) and with high efficiency. The proposed chopper behaves with discontinuous current control(DCC) of input current. The input current waveform in the proposed chopper is got to be a discontinuous sinusoid form in proportion to magnitude of ac input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, the input power factor is nearly unity and the control method is simple. In the general DCC chopper, the switching devices are turned-on with the zero current switching, but turn-off of the switching devices is switched at current maximum value. To achieve a soft switching of the switching rum-off, the proposed chopper is used a new partial resonant circuit. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of chopper is high.

  • This paper presents a high-power electronic ballast for a metal-hallide lamp(MHL) that employs frequency modulation(FM) technique to eliminate acoustic resonance(AR). The proposed ballast consists of a full-bridge rectifier, a power factor correction(PFC) circuit, a full-bridge(FB) inverter, an ignitor using LC resonance and an FM control circuit. Whereas a manual PFC provides advantages in terms of high reliability and low cost for constructing the circuit, it is difficult to supply a stable voltage because of the output voltage ripple that occurs with a period of 120Hz. Although the ballast can be designed with a small size and a light weight if it is driven at a switching frequency between 1 and 100 kHz, AR will occur if the eigen-value frequency of the lamp coincides with the inverter's operation frequency. The operation frequency was modulated in real time according to the output voltage ripple to compensate for the variation in power supplied to the lamp and eliminate AR. Performance of the proposed technique was validated through numerical analysis, computer simulation using PSPICE and by applying it to an electronic ballast for a prototype 1kW MHL.

  • PFC(Power Factor Correction) converters are commonly designed for CCM(Continuous Conduction Mode). However, DCM(Discontinuous Conduction Mode) appears in the input current near the ZCP(Zero Crossing Point) at light loads, resulting in input current distortion. It is caused by inaccurate average current values obtained in DCM. This paper studies a simple digital control scheme that can be operated in both CCM and DCM with minimal changes to the CCM average current control structure.

  • 이 논문은 이중 출력과 단일 역률 적용에 대한 하나의 전력단 회로를 사용한 새로운 정류기를 나타낸다. 제안된 정류기는 부스트와 플라이백 컨버터가 결합된 하나의 전력단 회로를 갖는 구조를 가지고 있고, PFC(power factor correction) 와 일정 출력 전압 제어를 동시에 수행한다. 따라서, 제안된 정류기는 전형적인 AC/DC 정류기들(멀티 권선을 갖는 플라이 백 정류기, 투 스테이지 방식을 사용한 부스트와 플라이백 컨버터가 결합된 정류기 등등)보다 낮은 비용과 작은 사이즈의 장점을 갖는다. 제안된 정류기 회로의 동자 원리는 본 논문에서 상세하게 기술 되어진다. 그리고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 정류기의 타당성을 증명하였다.
