  • We have development the electronic ballast for metal halide discharge (MHD) lamp. The ballast consists of the boost pre-converter for power factor correction (PFC), a flyback a converter, half-bridge inverter and ignitor. To reject acoustic resonance phenomena, we have designed electronic ballast driving with the low frequency square wave.   • This propose a simple DC voltage sensor less single phase PFC(Power Factor Correction Circuit) converter by detecting a AC current sensors are not required to construct the control system. The DC voltage is directly controlled by the command input signal Kd($V_o/V_a$)for the boost chopper circuit. The DC voltage regulation is small because of the feed forward control for the AC line voltage VS and no dependence of the circuit parameters. The sinusoidal current waveform in phase with the AC input voltage can be obtained. These characteristics are confirmed by some experiment results.

  • A novel high power factor drive of a single-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM) is researched. It achieves sinusoidal and near unity power factor input currents. The proposed SRM drive has one additional active switches. And a single-stage approach has a simple structure and low cost. A prototype to drive an SRM equipping a suitable encoder is designed to evaluate the proposed topology. The characteristics and validity of the proposed circuit is discussed with some simulations and experimental results.

  • A single-stage high-power-factor electron ic ballast operating in critical conduction mode is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is based on integration of a boost-like converter and a LCC Type half-bridge serial resonant inverter. The power-factor-correction(PFC) stage is a boost-like converter operating in critical conduction mode for positive and negative half cycle voltage respectively at line frequency (60Hz) so that a high power factor is achieved naturally. The simulated and experimental results for 100w fluorescent lamps operating at 42kHz switching frequency and 220V line voltage have been obtained.

  • According as level of industry develops day after day, electricity load system of industry requires high level control, effectiveness and high efficiency. Among supply and control unit of suitable power supply in these load characteristic, inverter systems of constant current regulate is used widely control of lighting and electric heating system. Therefore, in this paper proposed an inverter systems with constant current regulation and power factor correction (PFC) circuit for Lighting and Beaconing of Aerodromes. The effectiveness of the proposed system confirmed through experimental results of CCR.

  • A highly efficient single-phase/three-phase compatible ac-to-dc converter is proposed and analyzed, which includes three identical single-phase both soft-switched dc-to-dc converter with boost converter as a pre-regulator for input power factor correction (PFC). The proposed converter structure provides a cost reduction and easy implementation of compatibility between single-phase 220V and three-phase 220V/380V with their inputs in delta or wye connections.

  • 역률 보상(Power Factor Correction) 회로의 입력 전압은 정현파이다. 부스트 역률 보상 회로의 경우, 정현파인 입력 전압의 크기가 충분히 작을 때 다이오드가 도통하지 않는 구간이 생긴다. 이 구간에서는 입력 전류 파형의 왜곡이 일어나고, 입력 전류의 전고조파왜율(Total Harmonic Distortion)이 증가하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 임계 도통 모드(Critical Conduction Mode) 역률 보상 부스트 컨버터에 한하여 두 가지 영전류 검출 방법을 사용하여 전고조파왜율을 개선하는 방법을 제안하고, 모의실험으로써 성능을 검증하였다.

  • Recently, LED (Light Emitting Diode) becomes to be useful to apply for the lightening sources in electric systems and the lightening equipment since the power is less consumed with high efficiency, and the size and the weight of LED are small and light, respectively. The LED is controlled with constant current and SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply). It is necessary for the LED manufacturer to secure the fundamental technology of designing LED chip, and to study the methodology to improve the power factor (PF) and to design the operational circuit for the development of LED to reduce the power loss in the application of LED lightening. The direct AC (Alternating Current) LED driving circuit, HV9910, is widely used in the industry field. In this paper, it is to evaluate the improved methodology for the power factor and efficiency through simulations when PFC (Power Factor Correction) and Noise Filter are added to HV9910.

  • This paper proposes a bridgeless half-bridge AC-DC converter with high-efficiency. The proposed converter integrates the bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) circuit with the asymmetrical pulse-width modulated (APWM) half-bridge DC-DC converter. It provides the isolated DC output voltage from the AC line voltage without using any full-bridge diode rectifier. Conduction losses are lowered with a simple circuit structure. Switching losses are also reduced by achieving zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of the power switches. By using series-connected two transformers, the proposed converter provides a low-profile and high power density for AC-DC converters. The performance of the proposed converter is verified from a 250 W (48 V / 5.2 A) experimental prototype circuit at $90 \;V_{rms}$ line voltage.

  • Recently, regulation for THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) such as IEC 61000-3-2, IEEE 519 is being reinforced about a product which directly connects to AC line in order to prevent distortion of common power source in electronic equipment and electrical machinery. In order to satisfy these regulations, conventional circuits were used two-stage structure attached power factor correction circuit at ahead of converter but this method complicate the circuit and then a number of element increases thereupon the cost of production rises. in this paper, we propose a high efficiency single-stage 300W PFC fly-back converter that improved power factor and efficiency than conventional two-stage power module.
