  • Pyruvate dehydrogenase phosphatase (PDP) is a mitochondrial protein serine/threonine phosphatase that catalyzes the dephosphorylation and concomitant reactivation of the pyruvate dehydrogenase component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC). PDP consists of a catalytic subunit (PDPc, Mr 52,600) and regulatory subunit (PDPr, Mr 95,600). In the presence of $Ca^{2+}$, PDPc binds to the dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase (E2) component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex in proximity to its substrate, the phosphorylated E1 component, thereby increasing the rate of dephosphorylation. PDPc possesses and intrinsic $Ca^{2+}$ binding site and a second $Ca^{2+}$ site is generated in the presence of E2. Using the unique interaction, highly pure PDPc was produced by the GSH-Sepharose-GST-L2 matrix with a specific activity of approx. 1000 U/mg and a yield of about 80%.

  • This research concerns the ADS drive method of 3 electrodes AC PDP and is determined the minimum pulse width of the address and the sustain, which the steady sustain discharge without decreasing luminance can be obtained. From the experimental result, if the address pulse width became $1.5[{\mu}s]$ or more a effective address discharge with the operating margin of 35[V] was possible. And if the sustain pulses width became $2[{\mu}s]$ or more, a steady sustain discharge with the operation margin of 25[V] was possible. When this condition is applied to Full-HDTV class PDP with the in lines of horizontal scanning lines, 8 sub-fields and total 1420 sustain pulses can be used.

  • By the voltage threshold (Vt) close-curve measurement method, the changes in the discharge characteristics such as a firing voltage and IR emission among the three electrodes were examined relative to the low or high panel temperature ranging from -10 to $80^{\circ}$. The variation in the panel temperature was found significantly influence the surface discharge between the MgO surfaces rather than the plate gap discharge between the MgO and phosphor layers. Based on this experimental observation, a modified reset waveform that alleviates the surface discharge during a ramp-up and -down period was deeloped. By adopting the proposed reset waveform, a stable address discharge could be obtained irrespective of the panel temperature variation.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the speaking rate(overall speaking rate and articulatory rate) of Parkinson's disease patients with palilalia(PDP). Palilalia is traditionally characterized by not only compulsive repetitions of words and phrases, but also by increased rate of speech based on auditory perception. Since Souques(1908) first characterized palilalia as fast speech rate from the perspective of auditory perception, few studies have evaluated PDP speech using acoustic methods. To compare the speech rate between PDP and normal subjects, we included five PDP and eight control subjects(age over 55), as well as the date acquired under reading tasks(standardized Korean paragraph). The difference in median of the overall speaking rate was not statically significant between the PDP group(median 5.25, IQR 1.30) and normal group(median 4.76, IQR 0.71). The PDP, however, had a significantly higher syllables per second on the articulatory rate(median 6.60, IQR 1.04) than normal subjects(median 5.60, IQR 0.52). Results indicated no differences in pause over 250msec and disfluency duration between the two groups. To provide useful insight into PDP speech, multiple levels of analysis should be employed.

  • In this paper, various power delay profiles (PDP) are simulated to study the influence of the PDP shape on the bit error rate (BER) performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems. Assuming Rayleigh fading with 16-QAM modulation scheme, the simulation focuses on the investigation of the various shapes of the PDP which are often characterized by peaks, slope, attenuation and distance of an echo profile of waves. This yields information about the properties of the channel, and can be applied to decide the performance of the systems according to the channel.

  • Policy-based Network Management(PBNM) in the Mobile Ad-hoc network(MANETs) requires additional, reliable and efficient mechanism over PBNM in wired network. Thus, it is important that the management system in MANETs should cluster the moving nodes and manage their movements in an effective manner. In this thesis, I propose a mechanism for the policy-based management in ad hoc networks in which I consider several methods to discover the Policy Decision Point(PDP), set the management area, and manage the movements of Policy Enforcement Point(PEP) nodes in the PBNM system. Moreover, COPS-PR is extended for the mechanism. Finally, I analyze and validate the results through simulations.
