Evaluation Factors of PDM Systems (PDM 시스템의 평가에 관한 연구)

  • System Intergration (SI) has resently been conceived as one df the most important tools for enforciong and reinforcing the competitiveness of an enterprise. A major concern of SI lies in sharing many types of information, such as engineering, production, finance, marketing, and so on. Product Data Management (PDM) systems are mainly concerned with product- related information, and also support a large portion of the Commerce At Light Speed (CALS) straitegy. PDM systems receive a great amount df attention form industry, A variety of PDM solutions have been introduced for the last few years, and its market has expanded very fast with an annual growth of 30%. However, in general, it is not an easy task to choose a right PDM solution for a particular company. A major purpose of this paper is to provide essential factors in evaluating PDM systems. While developing the factors. we consider the expected future trend of PDM technologies and three types of PDM-based intergration (frontward, rearward, and sideward integrations). We Propose to carry out the evaluation process in two fold. An overall evaluation is performed first to narrow down many alternatives into a few candidate systems, and then a detailed technical evaluation step follows to determine the final solution. A number of influencing factors are categorized and described in each of these steps.

  • Tilting train has been developed to increase the operational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper developed PDM(product data management) to make a system engineering of TTX(tilting train express) with maximum operation speed 180 km/h.

  • As the use of Internet being generalized, ordering system can be easily achieved on the Web so that the direct sailing system is replaced the various types of Built-To-Order system. It is important to give the up-to-date information to the end-user in order to build the Built-To-Order system. Recently, the way of providing information is updating the product related information continuously. In this study, we provide the method that can be streamlined Product Data Management System which manages a creation and update for product information into the direct BTO system in order to achieve the newest information. This methodology is not only transferring the information but also processing the information in an appropriate form. So this paper is going to cover the various point of view of information processing.

  • In this paper, for integrating of data on car parts we model information of parts that PDM system manages. Ontology of car parts applies existing ontology mapping research to integrate into car ontology. We propose a method for semantic integration of PLM object of MEMPHIS based on the integrated ontology. Through our method, we introduce C# ontology model to apply existing C# applications with ontology. We also classify ontology integration into three through examples and explain them. While semantically integrating PLM objects based on the integrated ontology, we explain the need for change of PLM object type and describe the process of change for PLM object type by examples.

  • This paper proposes a framework for product development including hardware and software components. The framework provides separation of the hardware dependent software, an integrated product development process, and integration of software components with product configurations and product structures. In order to separates the hardware dependent software, the framework considers product configuration modules and engineering changes of associated hardware and software components. The proposed product development process integrates development of the hardware dependent software into the existing product development process. In order to integrates the hardware dependent software with product configurations and product structures, the framework represents software components by existing product data models in Product Data Management (PDM). The framework is applied to development of a robot system including hardware and software components in order to show its effectiveness.

  • PLM(Product Lifecycle Management) is one of innovative manufacturing paradigms which leverages e-business technologies to allow a company's product content to be developed and integrated with all company business process through the extended enterprise. In these days, most construction companies also make an effort to enhance their systems for creating, sharing and managing information to improve business efficiency through entire lifecycle of project execution. Because of different needs, business process and diverse engineering activities such as design, structural analysis, installing simulation, documents and data managements, a new paradigm for construction companies is needed to manage and share the entire workflow, and information in total project lifecycle. In this paper, we conducted user requirement and business process analysis of the construction to design architecture of C-PLM(Construction Project Lifecycle management) and implement a prototype of C-PLM systems based on commercial PDM system.

  • In order to care about preserving the environment for future generations, each country has been required to make the laws of the environment. So car manufacturers must design, manufacture and sell cars and trucks that meet customer's need and must do this while meeting the needs of the environment. In this research we have developed product structure and configuration management system that treats electronic catalogs for recycling of automobile parts. This research focused on two system. One is XML-based electronic catalog that give the information about recycling of automobile parts. The other is product structure and configuration management system based on electronic catalog.

  • Presented in this paper is the development of an product cost estimation system at the product design stage. The efficient cost estimation function at the design stage is essential for the cost reduction activities through the entire product life cycle. For this purpose, it is necessary to establish a systematic working procedure, and to develop information system for managing a great deal of production and product-related data required for the cost estimation. The developed system has the capability of estimating a cost of assembly type products as well as unit-item type products. As proposed system is based on the variant approach, it can be used easily at an early design stage without the need for detail design information. Also, this system is integrated with legacy PDM (Product Data Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system for fast. accurate and easy product cost estimation. The estimated cost includes material cost, overhead cost as well as labor cost.
