Effect of PDA Guide Service on Users' Involvement, Satisfaction, and Reuse Intention -Focused on PDA Guide Service in Gyeongbokgung- (PDA를 활용한 안내서비스가 이용객의 몰입, 만족 및 재이용의도에 미치는 영향 -경복궁의 PDA안내서비스를 중심으로-)

  • Due to IT(information technology) development, various ITs have been applied to tourism. Since June 2010, PDA guide service was launched in Kyungbok palace. This study tried to find how effectively the service is operated by comparing flow, satisfaction and reuse intention of PDA users with those of who have received guide service by professional interpreter. The result indicates that those who have received professional interpretation showed to be more involved, satisfied and have more intention to reuse. The paper explored the composing factors of PDA guide service, which are 'interpretation', 'design', 'ease of use', and 'stability of operation'. Among these factors, interpretation was analyzed to be only factor what affects users' involvement and also most influential attribute explaining users' satisfaction and reuse intention. 'Interpretation', 'stability' and 'ease of use' are shown to have impact on satisfaction, while 'interpretation' and 'stability' have significant effect on users' reuse intention of PDA guide service. The operational implications from these results are suggested.

Implementation of Network-based Robot System to Guide a way (길안내를 위한 네트워크 기반 로봇 시스템 구현)

  • Early in 21st century, researches about intelligent service robot that provide various services for a human out of the industrial robot only has simple pattern repetition. It concentrates in the research regarding the URC(Ubiquitous Robotic Companion) robot which connects the network in the intelligent service. This paper proposes the robot system based on network to guide a way. The robot has made by lego brick and used ultrasonic sensor, rotation sensor and RFID tag to recognize external environment. Also, it includes a PDA to process the data between robot and server. The network server transmits information to robot controller by bluetooth and it controls the course movement and evasion of the robot. In this research, the robot system based on network to guide a way is easy to expand service and is able to process a data in real time due to data processing in the server as a part of intelligent robot. And it can reduce the cost to build a robot thank to use cheaper sensor equipment.

  • Location Based Service(LBS) system is widely used in Car Navigation Service(CNS), position tracing, tour guide, etc. Recently, the development of a mobile hardware enables us to run various application of software on small handset. Although CNS systems are widely used on personal computer, PDA and embedded machines, small display system of a mobile handset still constrains to make it difficult to developed route visualization and navigation system. In this paper, we propose a new route map visualization system on mobile handset environment for LBS system. We use modified line simplification algorithm that removes extraneous information and places more emphasis on the turning point. We also adopted level of detail route visualization technique for visualization of a detail map. This system improved turn-by-turn method and line drive system, which are widely adopted by current route visualization system.

  • Recently GPS and mobile GIS technologies based on LBS(location based service) have played an important role as DSS(decision supporting system) for domestic forest fire extinguishment policies. In this study forest fire extinguishments information management system based on mobile GIS technique was designed to seize the exact location on wireless network so that it helps to guide the safe and efficient extinguishments affairs and provide the extinguishments environment toward ground fighting teams and the central forest government in real time. Moreover, possibly to operate this system, the foundation technologies by the name of '.gci' such as the spatial data compression method, the spatial data transmission method over wireless network and the spatial analysis interface on PDA should be mainly considered. Especially, in this study the spatial data compression method having high compression rate from 51% to 62% for each polygon, line, and point data, without the loss of data was developed.
