Design and Implementation of File System Using Local Buffer Cache for Digital Convergence Devices (디지털 컨버전스 기기를 위한 지역 버퍼 캐쉬 파일 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • Due to the growth of embedded systems and the development of semi-conductor and storage devices, digital convergence devises is ever growing. Digital convergence devices are equipments into which various functions such as communication, playing movies and wave files and electronic dictionarys are integrated. Example are portable multimedia players(PMPs), personal digital assistants(PDAs), and smart phones. Therefore, these devices need an efficient file system which manages and controls various types of files. In designing such file systems, the size constraint for small embedded systems as well as performance and compatibility should be taken into account. In this paper, we suggest the partial buffer cache technique. Contrary to the traditional buffer cache, the partial buffer cache is used for only the FAT meta data and write-only data. Simulation results show that we could enhance the write performance more than 30% when the file size is larger than about 100 KBytes.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 기술이 문화예술 분야에 접목되면서 수동적이었던 전시 관람 형태가 능동적인 관람 형태로 바뀌고 있다. 특히, 지능형 가이드 시스템의 등장은 기존의 관람 문화를 크게 변화시켰다. 지능형 가이드 시스템이란 사용자에게 전시물에 대한 정보 및 전시장의 위치 정보를 제공해주는 시스템을 말한다. 현재 상용화되고 있는 지능형 가이드 시스템은 크게 휴대폰, PDA, 게임기 등의 휴대형 장치 기반의 가이드 시스템과 HMD와 같은 착용형 장치 기반의 가이드 시스템으로 나뉠 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 현재 상용화된 시스템들의 한계(예를 들어, 특정 장치를 직접 착용 혹은 소지해야 함)를 서술하고, 이를 보완하는 프로젝터 기반의 가이드 시스템에서 더 나아가 임의의 공간에 원하는 전시물 구성, 설치 등을 신속, 정확하게 수행하는 지능형 가이드 시스템을 제안한다. 프로젝터 기반의 지능형 가이드 시스템은 기반 기술로 지능형 프로젝션 기술을 필요로 하는데, 이는 임의의 환경에서 임의의 위치에 다수의 사용자에게 고화질, 대화면 영상 정보를 제공해 준다. 그러나, 기존의 지능형 프로젝션 기술은 성능 및 안정성을 위해 대부분 가시적인 패턴 및 마커를 사용하는데, 이는 사용자에게 제공되는 정보를 관찰하는 데 방해가 될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 관점에서 유용한 비간섭 지능형 프로젝션 기술을 사용한다. 즉, 본 논문에서는 마커나 패턴을 사용함으로써 정확성이나 안정성은 보장하지만, 마커나 패턴을 은닉하여 사용자의 눈에 띄지 않도록 함으로써, 사용자는 원하는 정보를 아무런 방해 없이 제공받을 수 있다. 제안된 시스템을 미술 작품 감상을 위한 가이드 시스템으로 적용해 본 결과, 사용자는 자유로운 환경에서 자신의 위치나 작품에 대한 설명을 대화면으로 제공받으면서, 편안하게 그림을 감상할 수 있었다.

  • Lately, IT has been rapidly in land. as a result, mobile device come into wide use and is very important in everyday life. But in ship are limits network with communication Equipment and service. as a result, be far removed from information age. Currently, ship Is connected with the outside world via satellite on the voyage. but, because high billing, ship is possible data transfer using low speed bandwidth. because ship is not possible using LAN, only limit ship's crew some use internet in limited space. so, ship is required construction of the network. in this paper, because composition of basic IT environment with information need of crew and customer from ship to cruises, there construct LAN in ship and propose network design for network of ship.

  • Art is an ongoing process of experimenting and challenging. The challenge and experiments of the artists encompass both the conceptual process and the expressive process of creating artworks. It is not mandatory to use cutting-edge technologies for interactive performances, since they can be realized by adapting pre-existing technologies. Using previous technologies reduces the difficulties in the production process and makes it easier for the audience to understand the way of participation. In this paper, propose an ARS-server-based control system in which a large audience can participate during a performance to control certain features on stage. This system was first proposed during the 'Ubiplay Workshop and Seminar' hosted by the GSCT, KAIST, and applied to the digital performance 'Syntasia' in June and July, 2007, hosted by the Goyang Culture Foundation.

  • Searching distributed resource efficiently is very important in distributed computing, cloud computing environment. Distributed resource searching may have system overheads and take much time in proportion to the searching number, because distributed resource searching has to circuit many peers for searching information. The open-source community project JXTA defines an open set of standard protocols for ad hoc, pervasive, peer-to-peer computing as a common platform for developing a wide variety of decentralized network applications. In this paper, we proposed peer search algorithm based on JXTA-Sim. original JXTA peer searching algorithm selected a loosely-consistent DHT. Our Lookup algorithm decreases message number of WALK_LOOKUP and reduce the network system overload, and we make a result of same performance both original algorithm and our proposed algorithm.

  • As the mobile computers such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) or Smart Phone has been widespread in our daily life, the demand of an extensive data input will gradually be increased. Consequently, many alternative soft keyboards have been proposed to satisfy this requirement. However none of them can provide an absolute solutions for that, the segregated guideline for keyboard arrangement and usage still cause much confusion to the user. Therefore, an integrated guideline is seriously required. In order to come up with the integrated guideline for Korean Soft keyboard GUI, the questionnaire and the experimental test compared with five soft keyboards were conducted in this study. As a result this paper presents five guidelines for improving an input speed of soft keyboard on the mobile computing; following familiarity for effective screen use, using a single key rather than grouping key, considering position of prediction word, considering prompt feedback, finally, considering optimized keyboard size.

  • WiBro(Portable Internet Service) is service being capable to provide a high data rate wireless internet access with Personal Subscriber Station under the stationary or mobile environment, anytime and any where. It will fill the gap between very high data rate wireless local area networks and very high mobility cellular systems. The security is an important point of WiBro providing high data and mobile wireless services. This paper proposes user authentication mechanism of WiBro wireless networks applied EAP-AKA authentication protocol. As a result of Wireless authentication based on EAP-AKA, this mechanism is capable to be used in WiBro-WLAN-3GPP interworking scenario as well as the WiBro authentication mechanism.

Development of MPEG-4 Audio Streaming Player on Mobile Terminal with Embedded Linux Processor (내장형 리눅스 기반 이동 단말기에서의 MPEG-4 오디오 스트리팅 재생기의 구현)

  • In this paper, we develop MPEG-4 AAC streaming player on embedded Linux processor such as mobile terminals. Moreover we show the experimental results that the player preforms the decoding processes of MPEG-4 AAC data effectively. MPEG-4 AAC technology supports a wide range encoding rates and high sound quality so it is appropriate to adopt various applications. In particular, the need in the development of the application of audio data increases according to significantly increase in devices used in mobile environments, such as cell phones and PDAs. In this environment, it is necessary to optimize the decoding processes to the ability of the terminal hardware in order to play audio data without delays. We also implement the decoding module to optimize the processor capabilities and make the player to decode and play streaming audio data from streaming server.

  • Currently the mobile web service is growing with a tremendous speed and mobile contents are spreading extensively. However, it is hard to search what the user wants because of some limitations of cellular phones. And the music is the most popular content, but many users experience frustrations to search their desired music. To solve these problems, this research proposes a hybrid recommendation system, MOBICORS-music (MOBIle COntents Recommender System for Music). Basically it follows the procedure of Collaborative Filtering (CF) system, but it uses Contents-Based (CB) data representation for neighborhood formation and recommendation of new music. Based on this data representation, MOBICORS-music solves the new item ramp-up problem and results better performance than existing CF systems. The procedure of MOBICORS-music is explained step by step with an illustrative example.

Fast-Handover Mechanism for Heterogeneous Network Using MIH in PMIPv6 (PMIPv6에서 MIH 기반의 이기종 네트워크의 연동을 위한 빠른 핸드오버 기법 연구)

  • While Wireless Internet services were activated, many users got possible to use various Internet services without limitation in location. In particular, the demands to Wireless Internet Services are getting expanded because mobile devices that support high mobility are getting smarter. However, if a user uses various wireless networks, much limitation occurs in network setting when they move to another network. This is because there are few appropriate Handover Mechanisms to support Heterogeneous Network. So, this paper propose that Fast-Handover for Vertical Network Handover with MIH in PMIPv6 to support heterogeneous network and to reduce the handover latency time. Analysis result presented in this paper shows that by carefully selecting suitable system configuration model and parameters, suggestion has reduced latency time of 26% and packet losses of 90% (Avg.) at the maximum in comparison with original PMIPv6 handover.
