국내 무선 시장은 이통사들이 지배한다. 과도한 표현일 수도 있지만 사실 그말에 크게 반대하는 사람들도 사실은 없으리라 본다. 이통사들이 차세대 통신 시장의 중심으로 PDA에 초점을 둔 행보가 심상치 않다. 최근 이러한 행보의 시발주자는 바로 SK텔레콤이다. SK텔레콤은 자체 통신망에 PDA용 NATE사이트 및 콘텐츠 구축과 전용 브라우저를 개발하는 등 PDA활성화에 주력하고 있다. PDA폰=포스트폰이라는 컨셉을 강조함으로써 일반인들의 관심을 사로 잡겠다는 계산이다. 현재 PDA폰을 자사의 포탈인 네이트에서 서비스하고 있으며, 게임 및 교육관련 콘텐츠가 일반 사용자 대상 PDA사업에서 가장 효율적인 수요처라 판단, 콘텐츠로 파악하고 확대에 힘을 기울이고 있다.

Currently, with the increasing demand for combining cellular phone and PDA, various kinds of PDA-phones are being developed. A typical PDA-phone consists of a CDMA processor and a PDA processor. Generally, a UART serial communication port is used for inter-processor communication. However, the CDMA standard will need more data bandwidth over 2Mbps with the emergence of IMT-2000. The bandwidth requirement is beyond the capability of UART. In this paper, several inter-processor communication mechanisms are analyzed and especially Dual Port Memory and USB were chosen as the candidates for the new communication mechanism. A prototype PDA-phone board has been implemented for experiment. The experimental result shows that Dual Port Memory is better than USB in cost performance.

리아이는 차세대 모바일 컴퓨팅 시대를 이끌어갈 PDA폰 및 스마트폰용 모바일 게임을 개발, 서비스하고 있는 게임 전문 업체로 유무선 연동 기술을 기반으로 유선 인터넷 사용자와 무선 인터넷 사용자간 네트워크 게임이 가능한 유무선 연동 게임포탈서비스를 개발하고 있다. 이미 2002년 엔씨소프트와 인공지능(AI) 기법의 바둑 및 장기 프로그램의 공동 개발 계약을 체결함으로써 우수한 기술력을 인정받은 바가 있으며, 삼성전자에서 출시한 Nexio PDA에 보드게임들을 출시해 사용자들로부터 큰 호평을 얻었다.

최근, 핸드폰은 일상생활의 필수품이 되었다. 특히 카메라가 장착된 핸드폰은 개인홍보와 오락요소로의 대표적인 도구로 사용된다. 나아가 양안카메라가 적용된 핸드폰은 사용자에게 입체감을 전달할 것이며, 입체감은 보다 효과적인 개인홍보 및 오락성을 제공할 것이다. 핸드폰은 휴대가 용이하지만 제한된 표시소자의 크기 및 해상도로 인하여 입체시 구현 시 사용자에게 손실된 정보 및 낮은 임장감을 제공한다. 이에 본 연구는 기존의 입체시 구현에 대한 구속조건들을 분석하고 핵심 요인을 산출하여, 핸드폰 환경에서의 최적의 입체시 구현을 위한 새로운 구속조건의 범위를 정량화하였다. 대표적인 구속조건으로는 수평, 수직 시차량이 고려되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 핸드폰용 양안카메라의 제작공차 및 효과적인 시차영상 제작을 위한 기준을 제시한다. 연구에 사용된 제품으로는 QVGA해상도(320*240) 및 2.8' 크기의 표시소자인 PDA폰이며, 입체시에 대한 구속조건을 정량화하기 위하여 수직, 수평이동이 가능한 지그를 사용하여 실험의 정확성을 높였다. 피실험자는 10명이며 남자 7명, 여자 3명으로 구성되었다.

In this paper we present a light weighted robust Korean morphological analyzer for mobile devices such as mobile phones, smart phones, and PDA phones. Such mobile devices are not suitable for natural language interfaces for their low CPU performance and memory restriction. In order to overcome the difficulties we propose 1) an online analysis by using Key Event Handler mechanism, 2) and a robust analysis of the Korean sentences with spacing errors without its correction pre-processing. We adapt the proposed Korean analyzer to a Korean-English mobile translator, which shows 5.8% memory usage reduction and 19.0% enhancement of average response time.

Purpose: The rapid change to an aging society generates an increase in the incidence of chronic diseases. Many chronic patients have been facing their illnesses without enough preparation. In order to solve these problems, we designed and tested a public healthcare service based on ubiquitous technology. Method: Telemedicine has emerged as new medical care system of chronic disease. However, public potential of its technology is difficult to know under current traditional health care system. In this work, we developed a Personal Digital Access (PDA) phone based healthcare system by trained visiting nurses for elderly patients. A field test was performed by SeongBuk Public Health Center in Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK). Result: Surveys were generated to assess the effects of this system compared to conventional public health system. Findings of trials demonstrate that healthcare coordination enhanced by PDA phone technology is satisfactory to the patients and nurses compared to previous one because prompt responses arouse their recognition of health. Conclusion: Ubiquitous healthcare system applied to public health service proved to be efficient and time-saving to monitor and control the chronic illnesses of large population.
