The reaction of $(en)Pd(NO_3)_2$ (en = ethylenediamine) with 1,4-bis(dimethyl-4-pyridylsilyl)benzene (L) affords cyclodimer, $[(en)Pd(L)]_2(NO_3)_4$, whereas the reaction of $(tmeda)Pd(NO_3)_2$ (tmeda = N,N,N’,N’-tetramethylethylenediamine) with L gives cyclotrimer, $[(tmeda)Pd(L)]_3(NO_3)_6$. Both complexes exist as catenane in water. The catenated cyclodimer is rigid whereas the catenated cyclotrimer is dynamic in water. The catenated cyclotrimers afford hydrogel containing 98.5% water below 2 ${^{\circ}C}$. The hydrogel changes to its sol around 38 ${^{\circ}C}$, and to its clear solution at 78 ${^{\circ}C}$. Such a notable difference between $[(en)Pd(L)]_2(NO_3)_4$ and $[(tmeda)Pd(L)]_3(NO_3)_6$ might be explained by their different dynamic behavior via ring size effects.
This study investigated the separation and the property of palladium precipitate formed by ascorbic acid in a simulated radioactive liquid waste, which was composed of 10 elements((Pd, Ru, Rh, Nd, Cs, Sr, Fe, Ni, Zr, Mo). Pd was separated selectively by using reduction characteristics of metal ions contained in the simulated waste with ascorbic acid. When the nitric acid concentration was 0.5 M, the Pd over 99.5% was precipitated by adding 0.04 M ascorbic acid. Nitric acid concentration is important at the reduction reaction of Pd ion. The precipitation yield of Pd was decreased as the concentration of nitric acid was increased. The Pd precipitate was re-dissolved in reaching at an equilibrium when the concentration of nitric acid was high and ascorbic acid was added with a small amount. The Pd precipitate formed by ascorbic acid was Pd metal and was aggregated by particles less than $1.0{\mu}m$.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors have changed the paradigm of treatment options for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Monoclonal antibodies targeting programmed death-1 (PD-1) and programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) have gained wide attention for their application, which has been shown to result in prolonged survival. Nevertheless, only a limited subset of patients show partial or complete response to PD-1 therapy, and patients who show a response eventually develop resistance to immunotherapy. This article aims to provide an overview of the mechanisms of acquired resistance to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy from the perspective of tumor cells and the surrounding microenvironment. In addition, we address the potential therapeutic targets and ongoing clinical trials, focusing mainly on NSCLC.

Advanced oxidation processes (AOP) such as O3/activated carbon process and O3/catalysts process were used to compare the decomposition of phenol. Catalysts such as Pd/activated carbon (Pd/AC), Mn/activated carbon (Mn/AC), Co/activated carbon (Co/AC) and Fe/activated carbon (Fe/AC) were prepared by impregnation of Pd, Mn, Co and Fe into the activated carbon of pellet form, respectively. Based on an hour of reactions, the following descending order for the decomposition ratios of dissolved O3 to the 1.48 mg/L of saturated dissolved O3 was observed: Mn/AC (45%) > Pd/AC (42%) > Co/AC (33%) > AC (31%) > Fe/AC (27%). The removal efficiencies of phenol were also arranged in the descending order of AOP as follows: Mn/AC (89%) > Pd/AC (85%) > Co/AC (77%) > AC (76%) > Fe/AC (71%). The remaining ratios (C/Co) of TOC (total organic carbon) after an hour of experiments were arranged in the ascending order of AOP as follows : Pd/AC (0.29) < Mn/AC (0.36) < AC (0.40) < Co/AC (0.49) < Fe/AC (0.51). However, the catalytic effects in the Co/AC and the Fe/AC processes were little in comparison with O3/AC process. The maximum concentrations of intermediates such as hydroquinone and catechol formed from the decomposition of phenol were arranged in the ascending order of AOP as follows: Pd/AC < Fe/AC < Co/AC < AC < Mn/AC. In the case of Pd/AC process, these intermediates were almost disappeared after an one hour of reaction.
Pd/activated carbon (Pd/AC) and Pd/alumina (Pd/AO) catalysts were prepared by the impregnation of palladium into activated carbon and alumina. The catalytic characteristics according to the kinds of support materials were compared. The decomposition efficiencies of ozone according to kinds of support materials are about the same when these were compared by adding 10 g of catalysts into the water saturated with ozone. The decomposition efficiencies and the oxidation characteristics (TOC, $COD_{Cr}$) of dichloroacetic acid were compared with the ozone only process and the catalytic ozonations using Pd/activated carbon and Pd/alumina catalysts. The decomposition efficiencies of dichloroacetic acid by catalytic ozonations were better than the one by ozone only process, but there was slight difference of the one between Pd/activated carbon and Pd/alumina catalyst. The decomposition efficiency of dichloroacetic acid was increased with increasing ozone dose at a constant concentration of dichloroacetic acid, but the one was little increased with increasing ozone dose at more than 1.0 L/min of ozone dose. It was seemed that the bicarbonate and the chloric ion formed throughout the decomposition of dichloroacetic acid acted as the scavenger of hydroxyl radical.

A peroxidase (PD-cP; 0.47 mg/100 g leaves) was purified from autumn leaves of Phytolacca dioica L. and characterized. PD-cP was obtained by acid precipitation followed by gel-filtration and cation exchange chromatography. Amino acid composition and N-terminal sequence of PD-cP up to residue 15 were similar to that of Spinacia oleracea (N-terminal pairwise comparison showing four amino acid differences). PD-cP showed a molecular mass of approx. 36 kDa by SDS-PAGE, pH and temperature optima at 3.0 and $50.0^{\circ}C$, respectively and seasonal variation. The Michaelis-Menten constant ($K_M$) for $H_2O_2$ was 5.27 mM, and the velocity maximum ($V_{max}$) $1.31\;nmol\;min^{-1}$, while the enzyme turnover was $0.148\;s^{-1}$. Finally, the presence of $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ enhanced the PD-cP activity, with $Mg^{2+}$ 1.4-fold more effective than $Ca^{2+}$.
Five representative virulent phages (J1, TK93, K1, PD5, and CP1) and one temperate phage (.phi.1043) of Lactobacillus casei were compared to each other by analyzing the agarose gel electrophoretic patterns of restriction enzyme-digested phage DNAs. Nucleic acids of all the tested phages were double stranded DNA. DNAs of J1, TK93, K1, and ${\phi}$ 1043 phages had a size of about 42kb, but the size of PD5 and CP1 DNAs was avout 140kb. J1, TK93, K1, PD5, CP1, and ${\phi}$ 1043 DNAs were digested to 13, 13, 11, 14, 14, and 12 fragments by EcoR1, respectively, and showed its characteristec restriction patterns. Cohesive ends were present in J1, TK93, and ${\phi}$ 1043, but were absent in K1, PD5, and CP1. Restriction maps of J1 and TK93 DNAs showed nearly complete homology and their evolutionary relationship based upon the restriction analysis was discussed.
The reaction of (COD)PdCl2 with new C3-symmetric tridentate L (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadien; L = 1,3,5-tris(picolinoyloxyethyl)cyanurate) in a mixture of acetone and dichloromethane produces single crystals consisting of unprecedented monometallacyclic [PdCl2(L)]. This cyclic compound arises from trans-chelation of two of three donating pyridyl groups of L, while the third pyridyl group remains uncoordinated. Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) data on L exhibited the major peak corresponding to [C27H24N6O9 + H+]+. Fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FABMS) data on [PdCl2(L)], however, showed the mass peak corresponding to the L instead of the present palladium(II) compound species, due to the insolubility and dissociation in solution. The physicochemical properties of the present palladium(II) compound were fully characterized by means of infrared (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, thermal analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) measurement.
Isolated rabbit jejunal segments were used to study the effects of ginseng total saponins (GTS) , protopanaxatriol saponins (PT) and protopanaxadiol saponins (PD) on intestinal contractility. GTS, PT and PD caused a dose-dependent decrease in intestinal spontaneous movements, and PT was the most efficacious of them. The effect of GTS, PT and PD were not blocked by pretreatment with phentolamine (10-6 M), yohimbine (10-6 M), d1-propranolol (10-6 M), naloxone(10-6∼10-5M), Nu-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (10-4 M), methylene blue (10-5M), and N-ethylmaleimide (10-4 M). However, pretreatment with tetraethylammonium chloride (3-10 mM) antagonized the effect of GTS, PT and PD. Furthermore, 4-amlnopyridine (1 mM) also inhibited the effect of GTS, PT and PD. The results suggest that GTS, PT and PD inhibited the spontaneous movements in isolated rebait jejunum by causing hyperpolarization through an activation of K+ channels directly.

This study was conducted to develop a salad dressing using Prunella vulgaris L. (PV) extracts. In addition, the study was also aimed at evaluating the quality characteristics of the salad dressing containing various amounts of PV extracts. Salad dressing was prepared by adding 0% (PD-0), 9.4% (PD-20), 18.8% (PD-40), 28.2% (PD-60), 37.6% (PD-80), 47.0% (PD-100) of PV extract. The quality characteristics (sugar contents, salinity, color value, total phenol contents, total flavonoid contents, DPPH, ABTS+ radical scavenging activities, and sensory acceptability) of the dressing were analyzed. According to the results of the study, the sugar contents and salinity of salad dressing increased according to the added amount of PV extract (p<0.001). The color values of lightness and yellowness of salad dressing increased according to the added amount of PV extract, whereas color value of redness decreased (p<0.001). Antioxidant activities were improved depending on the amount of PV extracts (p<0.001). The sensory acceptability (flavor, medicinal flavor, saltiness, sourness, bitterness and viscosity) were significantly higher in the dressing added with 18.8% PV extracts than in the other samples. Based on this result, a storage experiment was conducted by comparing PD-40 and PD-C. After 4 weeks of storage at $4^{\circ}C$ and $24^{\circ}C$, the quality characteristics were observed and the pH was increased in the later stages of storage (p<0.05). The depicted that, viscosity increased with storage time at $4^{\circ}C$ (p<0.001). General bacteria and coliform were not detected during storage. These results indicated that salad dressing with the addition of 18.8% PV extracts has the best quality.
