  • TMA clathrate that is used as PCM of low temperature thermal storage system in this research creates hydrate crystallization at higher temperature then pure water, and its application is expected as PCM because of comparatively big latent heat without phase separation phenomenon. Acetone, Ethylen Glycol, and Ethanol is used as additive and evaluated experimentally for the purpose of the improvement in subcooling of TMA clathrate. In view of the results so far achieved subcooling is improved, the running time of the refrigerator is reduced. Thus the results are expected to use for the increase of coefficient of performance of low temperature thermal storage system in the building.

  • In this study, basic design data which were required for development of highly efficient ice storage system with low temperature latent heat were experimentally obtained. The ice storage system considered in this study was the one that has been widely used in the developed country and called the ice-on-coil type. Using the system, the ice storage performance for various design parameters which were the flow direction and the inlet temperature of the secondary fluid was tested. In addition, the clockwise variation of the heat transfer characteristics of the PCM in the ice storage tank were investigated. During the melting processes in the ice storage tank with several vertical tubes, decrease of the solid-liquid interface area, which was the heat transfer area, between the floating ice and the water made the decreasing rate of IPF less. Also, the total melting energy for the upward flow of the secondary fluid was higher than that for the downward flow during the melting process, but this trend did not appear if the initial temperature of the PCM was $4^{\circ}C$. The average ice recovery efficiency for the upward flow of the secondary fluid was higher than that for the downward flow.

  • One of the important applications of a contact melting process is a latent thermal energy storage system owing to its high heat flux and small temperature variation. In some previous works, the split fins have been employed in order to enhance the melting rate. In the present work, the direct contact melting was experimentally investigated using an ice as specimen for both split and non-split fins. It was shown that the contact melting by split fins increases the melting rate compared to that of non-split ones.

수직다발관형 빙축열 탱크내 물의 응고과정시 열전달특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Heat Transfer Characteristics during the Freezing Process of Water in the Vertical Multi Tube Type Ice Storage Tank)

  • In this study, basic design data which were required for development of highly efficient ice storage system with low temperature latent heat were experimentally obtained. The ice storage system considered in this study was the one that has been widly used in the developed country and called the ice-on-coil type. Using the system, the ice storage performance for various design parameters which were the flow direction and the inlet temperature of the secondary fluid was tested. In addition, the timewise variation of the interface profiles between the solid and the liquid were visualized, and the heat transfer characteristics of the Phase Change Material(PCM) in the ice storage tank were Investigated. During the freezing processes in the ice storage tank with several vertical tubes, decrease of the heat transfer area and the heat resistance of the ice layer made the increasing rate of ice packing factor(IPF) less. The total freezing energy for the upward flow of the secondary fluid was higher than that for the downward flow. The average ice storage efficiency for the upward flow of the secondary fluid was higher than that for the downward flow.

  • 기존 단열재의 주된 기능은 단지 열전달을 차단하는 기능과 건물로부터 열손실을 줄여주는 기능만을 수행했다. 반면, 축열재는 특정온도 범위 내에서 열에너지를 저장 또는 방출함으로써 건물에너지 사용량을 절감할 수 있다. 축열 건자재는 실내 공기온도 변화주기를 효과적으로 조절하여 일정하게 온도를 유지시킬 수 있다. 결과적으로 냉난방시스템 기능을 효율적으로 향상시킬 수 있다. 본 연구는 건축자재로 많이 이용되고 있는 석고보드에 상변화잠열물질을 축열재로 첨가하여 그 물성과 열환경 특성을 파악하였다. 또한 축열 건자재를 활용할 때 발생가능한 문제점을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 TVOC와 HCHO 함량 분석으로부터 오염물질의 배출가능성을 조사하여 축열 건자재의 환경 친화도를 검토하였다.

  • A preheating module for domestic heating facility will increase a energy efficiency. That collects the wasted heat of exhaust gas and saves the energy. So a heating load is decreased because of a preheating that has a heating energy. Using of a preheating module, a boiler can reduce frequent operation of a burner. So it is increased persistence, decreased discharging noxious gases. Therefore we will intend to develop a heating facility that is a convenient system for the saving energy.

잠열물질을 이용한 열저장 기술에 관한 연구 (Study of Thermal Storage Technology using Phase Change Material)

  • The cold chain system in South-East Asia is requiring to maintain freshness of refrigerated or frozen food. In this study, Thermal storage system using Phase change material (PCM) was developed and evaluated its performance about temperature and cold keeping time. For various application of cold chain system, we developed portable cold box, cold roll container and freezing station. Keeping time on laboratory tests of portable cold box in case of refrigeration and freezing were 6 hours and 4 hours, respectively. Cold container was developed to 2.5 ton scale. Evaluation in Indonesia, it was showed to keep the setting temperature of $-10^{\circ}C$ over 40 hours at $30^{\circ}C$ of ambient air. Freezing station using PCM was kept over 24 hours under $-20^{\circ}C$.

Thermal Storage and Thermodynamic Characteristics of Phase Change Materials Slurries

  • This study was aimed at developing a low cost cold storage system for agricultural products. Three kinds of slurries: $K_1$, $K_2$, and $K_3$ slurries were developed using phase change materials (PCMs) such as tetradecane, octadecane, and sodium polyacrylate to maintain the desired temperature ranges. The slurries were manufactured by in-situ polymerization. Tetradecane and octadecane were capsulated in a core with melamine at the surface. The thermodynamic characteristics of the slurries were measured and analyzed. The latent heats of the $K_1$, $K_2$, and $K_3$ slurries at the melting points were 206.41, 186.88, and 147.91 kJ/kg, respectively. A transportable cold storage container was built to investigate the performance of the slurries as thermal storage media. The temperatures at the insides of the container could be maintained in the ranges of 0-5, 5-10, and $10-15^{\circ}C$ for more than 23, 27, and 60 hr with the $K_1$, $K_2$, and $K_3$ slurries, respectively.

상변화물질을 이용한 축열시스템에서 핀에 의한 열전달 촉진 연구 (Heat Transfer Enhancement by Fins in a Latent Heat Storage System Using Phase Change Material)

  • 망초를 이용한 저온 잠열축열시스템에서 핀을 설치한 전열관에서 방열과정중의 열전달 특성을 살펴보았다. 잠열물질의 과냉각과 상분리를 방지하기위해 3.0 wt% $Na_2$B$_4$O$_{7}$10$H_2O$와 2.2 wt% acrylic acid sodium sulfate가 조핵제 및 증점제로 사용되었다. 축열조는 높이가 530 mm, 직경이 74 mm이고 열전달관은 높이가 480 mm, 직경이 13.5 mm인 이중관으로 되어있으며 열전달 유체로는 물을 사용하였다. 축열재로부터 열을 치수하는 방열과정에서 열회수율은 열전달 유체의 유입온도와 유량에 크게 의존하였다. 핀이 설치되지 않은 전열관과의 비교실험을 통하여 핀에 의한 열전달 촉진은 얇은 핀의 경우에는 열전달계수의 증가가 미미하였지만 두꺼운 핀을 사용한 경우에는 같은 조업조건에서 열전달계수가 약 60% 정도 증가하였다. 실험적으로 결정된 총괄 열전달계수는 핀이 없는 경우에는 약 150-260 w/$m^2$K이었고 두꺼운 핀을 사용한 전열관에서는 230-530 W/$m^2$K정도였다. 총괄 열전달계수의 크기와 핀에 의한 전열면적을 기준으로 한 핀의 효율은 두꺼운 핀의 경우에는 약 0.26, 얇은 핀의 경우에는 0.05 정도로 계산되었다.다.

지역난방 급탕공급 부하균등화를 위한 잠열축열조의 현장 적용 (Field Application of a Latent Heat Storage Tank for Load Shaving of Domestic Hot Water Supply in District Heating)

  • 지역난방의 운영적 측면에서 특정시간의 피크부하 완화를 통한 효율적인 열생산과 공급 및 지역난방 공급 중단 시 급탕 공급은 난방 대비 대체가 어려워 사용자 측면의 불편함과 공급자 측면의 애로사항을 해결할 수 있는 적용 기술이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 기술 중 열저장 능력과 급탕공급에 적합한 78℃급 수화물계 잠열축열조를 제작하여 지역난방 사용자 아파트 급탕공급설비에 현장 적용하였다. 본 시스템의 적용 결과 기존 공급방식 대비 급탕온도의 변화가 거의 없이 일정하게 사용자에게 공급됨을 확인하였으며, 피크 열부하는 평균 35% 감소와 비상열원으로서의 활용 가능성을 확인하였다. 또한 부하균등화에 따른 피크부하 감소로 기존 열 공급시설에서 10%의 열공급 여유와 신규 열공급시설 건설비용 및 열사용자의 공사비부담금이 각 5%와 10%가 감소됨을 확인하였다.
