This paper proposes a new heuristic method of constructing process capability indices (PCIs) for skewed populations. It is based on weighted standard deviation (WSD) method which decomposes the standard deviation of a quality characteristic into upper and lower deviations and adjusts the value of PCI using decomposed deviations in accordance with the skewness estimated from sample data. For symmetric populations, the proposed PCIs reduce to standard PCIs. Asymptotic distributions of the estimators of the PCIs are obtained. The performances of the proposed methods are compared with those of the standard and other methods. Numerical comparisons indicate that considerable improvements over existing methods can be achieved by the use of WSD method when the underlying distribution is skewed.

Methylotrophic actinomycetes No. 155 produced an aminoglycoside antibiotics(AG)-resistant inhibitor. We have previously reported that the inhibitor shows strong inhibition to sisomicin-resistant strain. In order to understand the functions of inhibitor and sisomicin-resistance, characterizations and purification of inhibitor were investigated. Strain No. 155 was tentatively identified as Nocardiopsis sp. based on morphological and some physiological characteristics. In the antimicrobial activity test, the addition of inhibitor to sisomicin showed a reduction effect of MIC on the test strains such as Gram(+), Gram(-) bacteria and yeasts. The combination of the inhibitor and various antibiotics revealed synergistic against E. coli K-12 and B. subtilis PCI 219. The induced intracellular proteins from sisomicin-resistant strain exhibited the sisomicin inactivation by invitro test. And the induced intracellular proteins were inactivated by addition of the inhibitor. The inhibitor compound was purified by anion exchange chromatography(Dowex-1) and HPLC using Asahipak ES-502C column. The purified inhibitor compound was detected in a single peak(above 98.5% purity) through the HPLC analysis.

The purpose of this paper, the 2nd stage of this study. is to test the applicability of the potential centrality evaluation model (PCEM) to a case study area. To verify the practical applicabilities of the PCEM, an administrative area of Ucheon-myeon, Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do was selected as a study area. Full data on the human environments of total 72 villages within the study area were surveyed. Data on the natural environments were collected through GIS analysis from digital maps developed far this study. The highest PCI (Potential Centrality Index) score was shown at Uhang village of which one being 841 (total score being 1,000), the real single center village of the study area. The evaluation results on potential centeralities of all the villages in the study area would provide decision-makers with more precised information for selection of center villages for development project.

6축 모션시뮬레이터를 기반으로 빔 프로젝터 2대를 이용하여 3D환경을 구축하고, 6축 모션시뮬레이터에 게임용 핸들과 페달을 장착하여 입력된 신호를 PC와 PCI8134, 8132 모션카드, 제어판을 통해 제어, 분배하여 사용자의 요구에 따라 6축 모션시뮬레이터의 움직임을 표현하는 3D레이싱게임콘텐츠를 위한 인터페이스 개발을 제안한다.

가변길이 부호는 많은 이미지 및 영상 표준에서 폭넓게 사용되는 기법이다. 특히 국제 표준인 JVT와 중국 A/V 표준인 AVS는 엔트로피 코딩을 수행하기 위해 Exp-Golomb 코드에 기반한 UVLC(Universal Variable Length Code)를 채용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 H.264/AVC의 엔트로피 코딩에서 사용되는 Exp-Golomb CODEC의 하드웨어 구현에 대해 연구하였다. 식의 간략화로 구현하기 어려운 log함수와 거듭제곱 연산을 하지 않으며, 첫 번째 1 검출기와 누산기 제어에 의한 배럴 쉬프터를 통하여 별도의 시간 지연 없이 부호화 및 복호화가 되도록 설계하였다. Xilinx ISE툴을 사용하여 합성하고, 보드 수준에서 PCI인터페이스를 사용하여 검증하였다. 본 논문에서 설계된 Exp-Glomb CODEC은 H.264/AVC 및 AVS와 같은 분야에서 응용이 가능할 것으로 예견된다.

High speed PC-based DIO(Digital I/O) system that consists of a master device and slave I/O devices is developed. The PCI interfaced master device controls all of serial communications, reducing the load on the CPU to a minimum. The slave device is connected from the master device and another slave device is connected to the slave device, it can repeated to maximum 64 slave devices. The slave device has 3 types I/O mode, such as 16 bits input-only, 16 bits output-only, and 8bits input-output. The master device has 2 rings which can take 64 slaves each. Therefore, total I/O points covered by the master is 2048 points. The slave features 3 types of input/output function interchangeability by DIP switch settings. Library, application, and device driver software for the DIO system that have a secure and a convenient functionality are developed.

본 논문에서는 고속의 멀티미디어 Streaming data를 처리하기 위한 DSP 기반의 플랫폼을 설계하였다. 개발한 하드웨어는 오디오/비디오 데이터를 처리하는데 있어서 유연성과 확장성을 부여하기위하여 DSP를 사용하였으며 기존의 DSP플랫폼과 다르게 PC에 의존하지않는 독립적인 H/W를 만들기 위하여 ARM Processor를 사용하였다. 이는 저해상도, 저비트율의 오디오/비디오가 분리된 형태의 플랫폼이아닌 DSP기반의 독립적인 유연 플랫폼 구조를 통하여 고속, 고해상도를 가능하게 한다. LAN을 통하여 전송받은 Streaming data는 PCI Interface를 이용하여 DSP로 전달되며 디코딩되어 출력된다.

In this paper, we propose a new graphic deformation algorithm for haptic interface system. Our deformable model is based on non-linear elasticity, anisotropy behavior and the finite element method. Also we developed controller for high-speed communication. The proposed controller is based on the PCI/FPGA technology, which could progress the capability of the position calculating and the force data transmitting. The haptic system is composed of the 6DOF force display device, the high-speed controller, HIR library for 3D graphic deformation algorithm and the haptic rendering algorithm. The developed system will be used on constructing the dynamical virtual environment. We demonstrate the relevance of this approach for the real-time simulating deformations of elastic objects. To show the efficiency of our system, we programmed the simulation of force reflecting. As the result of experiment, we found that it has high stability and easy to control for deformable object than some other systems.

멀티미디어 디스플레이 시장현황과 성장추이를 보면 현재 멀티미디어 디스플레이는 '진화 중'이라는 표현이 적당할 것으로 보인다. 다양한 종류의 시스템을 인식시키기 위한 호환성이 개선됐고 네트워크 기능 까지 추가 되는 등 계속해서 여러 가지 기술이 응집되고 있다. 무선 랜은 랜 케이블이 없어도 되기 때문에 케이블 연결을 최소화해야 하는 멀티미디어 디스플레이에 필요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11g wireless mini pci를 탑재한 ARM계열 임베디드 장비에서 C/C++를 사용하여 보다 효율적이고 뛰어난 uClinux기반의 멀티미디어 디스플레이 무선 랜 네트워크 사용자 인터페이스의 구현에 대해서 논의 하고자 한다.

In this paper, the development of an IMM(Injection Molding Machine) controller is discussed. Presently, the Mold Close and Open Control Method of a toggle-type IMM is open-loop control. Through the development, a PC based control system was built instead of an existing controller and a closed-loop control replaced the previous control method by using PC based PLC. To control the nonlinear system of toggle type clamping unit, a fuzzy PI control algorithm was selected and it was programmed by an IL(Instruction List) and a LD(Ladder Diagram) on a PC based PLC. The application of fuzzy algorithm as the control method was also considered to change a control object like a mold replacement or an additional apparatus. For the development of an IMM controller, PC based PLC of PCI card type, distributed I/O modules with CANopen and Industrial PC and HMI (Human Machine Interface) software were used.
