A Study on the NURBS Interpolator for the Precision Control of Wire-EDM (와이어컷 방전가공기의 정밀제어를 위한 NURBS 보간기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deals with the precision NURBS interpolator for wire-EDM. Previous research about OAC (Open Architecture Controller) is mostly aimed at NC cutting machines such as milling or lathes, and hence these results are inadequate to apply to wire-EDM. In contradiction to NC machines, wire-EDM operates relatively slow feed rates and based on a feedback control loop to the machining process. The 2-stage interpolation method which reflects wire-EDM specific characteristics was proposed. The constant interpolation error could be acquired through 1 st stage interpolation. Feed rate regulation was performed through 2nd stage interpolation. The suggested algorithm was implemented to test-bed PC-NC system. Computer simulations and the experimental machining were conducted.

  • This paper deals with the implementation of walking for a humanoid robot by ZMP measurement using wireless sensor network. ZMP is measured by FSR sensors which are mounted at each corner of a sole. The wireless sensor network collects the sensor data according and exchanges robot information between host PC and a robot system. The master controller mounted on robot body receives trajectory data from the host PC via sensor network and drives the joint motor based on trajectory data. The time scheduler of the master controller controls the events at the ratio of 100ms. With this configuration, the walking of the humanoid robot KHR-1 could be realized successfully.

  • Many industrial equipments use RS-232C interface. But Ethernet using CSMA/CD was widly spread recently. This interface is not compatible with RS-232C and requires PC based system. So In this Paper, We decribe a Internet control and monitoring system that control and watch plants without PC. We developed IP controller consisted of microprocessor and NIC and monitoring system using VC++ and SQL database. The protocol used this system is UDP/IP because it is applicable for real time system.

  • In spite of the superiority of the sliding method in the building construction field, the AC induction motor servo control device is used as the power control technology in the building construction field in order to improve the problems of the hydraulic power control method, thereby contributing to the precision control and the productivity improvement. Based on Induction Motor Servo Controller, we proposed the development of a mobile sliding method using a complex combination of PC and MITY (MS) Servo.

  • The existing CPC(Center Position Controller) has unstably performed because of dusts on reflection panel, CCD protector contamination due to high temperature in furnace or other parameters. The reason is that the existing CPC has a Z80 processor as a CPU and only performs low level image processing as a simple edge detector. So the improvement of control system through the development of robust edge detection algorithm overcoming changes of measuring environment is needed. For this, in this study we carefully analyze the image of the strip rolled in occasion that measuring environment is changing, develop the optimal edge detection algorithm to solve the problems, generate the control signal suitable for the existing CPC(Center Position Controller), and propose the capability of application to the actual environment.

  • This paper presents the modified fuzzy-compensated PID(FCPID) control, which involves adding the compensator to an existing PID controller, to improve the performances of the systems. Compared to a conventional PID control and a fuzzy logic control(FLC), the proposed control scheme has superior performance. Experimental results of an actual implementation of the modified PC-based FCPID controller on the DC servo-motor demonstrate considerable improve- ment of the performance of the existing FCPID control by monitoring the scaling factor. They show faster responses and smaller overshoots than the conventional FCPID control scheme for the various reference inputs and the robustness to the loads.

  • The paper presents an accurate loss model based controller of an induction motor to calculate the optimal air gap flux. The model includes copper losses, iron losses, harmonic losses, friction and windage losses, and stray losses. These losses are represented as a function of the air gap flux. By using the calculated optimal air gap flux compared with rated flux for speed sensorless indirect vector controlled induction motor, an improvement in motor efficiency is achieved. The motor speed performance is improved using a fuzzy logic speed controller instead of a PI controller. The fuzzy logic speed controller was simulated using the fuzzy control interface block of MATLAB/SIMULINK program. The control algorithm is experimentally tested within a PC under RTAI-Linux. The simulation and experimental results show the improvement in motor efficiency and speed performance.

  • This paper describes a PC-based distributed multi-rate realtime control system using USB protocol, which is developed as a general motion controller. The control system consists of two control programs: one running at 1 kHz sampling rate on a PC with Linux and another running at 10 kHz sampling rate on a remotely located motion control card called RASID (remote axis serial interface device). Two programs communicates through USB at every 1 msec. A USB communication driver is developed to ensured the 1 msec desired communication time. The main program running on the PC generates reference trajectory at 1 kHz and send it to the RASID through USB and RASIDs located near the motors gather the sensor information and execute the low-level control at 10 kHz. The USB-based connectivity reduces the wiring harness and eventually the manufacturing cost of the machine. The multi-rate nature of the developed system improves the control capability. The effect of sampling rate is analyzed and simulated.

  • This paper describes a virtual instrument system with faulty sensor reconstruction mechanism based on personal computer. This system consists of sensor control board using 16bit RISC machine, error signal reconstruction algorithm based on principal component analysis and auto tunned GUI interface according to the attached sensors. USB module is used for fast communication between PC and sensor controller. To show the veridity of the proposed system, the proposed system was applied to the developed sun tracker with 8 solar sensors.

  • In this study, we have developed a web-based management system for greenhouse teleoperation. The remote control system consisted of a database, a web-server, a controller in greenhouse, and clients. The database in the server stored user's information and greenhouse conditions was used to manage user's login and conditioning data. The management system developed by using Java applet, which was a client program for effective and easy management of greenhouse, monitored the greenhouse in real time. Master and driver boards were installed in the greenhouse control unit. Database on flowering to collect and analyze data exchanged data with the server. The master board could be managed effectively by timer routine, repeat control within setting time, and algorithm of setting points. Also, the greenhouse conditions could be controlled by manual or remote controller(PC) through a web browser in internet. Furthermore, all of the control devices of the greenhouse were managed by remote control of using PC and checked via camera installed in greenhouse. Finally, we showed the experimental results of the system which was installed in Pusan Horticultural Experiment Station.
