The Effect of Electron Irradiation on the Surface Modification of Polycarbonate and Adhesion of Cr Thin Films (전자 빔 조사를 통한 폴리카보네이트 표면개질 및 Cr박막 접착력 증대 효과)

  • The enhancement of adhesion for Cr film on polycarbonate (PC) substrate with electron irradiation treatment was considered. The electron treatment changes the contact angle of the PC substrates. As increase the electron energy from 300 eV to 900 eV, the contact angle decreases from $90^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}C$. It is supposed that electron treatment changes the chemical property of PC substrate into hydrophilic one. The micro surface roughness was also affected by electron treatment. The PC substrates irradiated with intense electron beam of 900 eV show the rougher surface than those of other PC substrates. Cr thin films deposited on the PC substrate treated with electron irradiation at 900 eV show the higher adhesion than that of the Cr thin film deposited untreated bare PC substrates.

Optimal Metal Dose of Alternative Cathode Catalyst Considering Organic Substances in Single Chamber Microbial Fuel Cells

  • Optimal preparation guidelines of a cathode catalyst layer by non-precious metal catalysts were evaluated based on electrochemical performance in single-chamber microbial fuel cells (MFCs). Experiments for catalyst loading rate revealed that iron(II) phthalocyanine (FePc) can be a promising alternative, comparable to platinum (Pt) and cobalt tetramethoxyphenylporphyrin (CoTMPP), including effects of substrate concentration. Results showed that using an optimal FePc loading of $1mg/cm^2$ was equivalent to a Pt loading of $0.35mg/cm^2$ on the basis of maximum power density. Given higher loading rates or substrate concentrations, FePc proved to be a better alternative for Pt than CoTMPP. Under the optimal loading rate, it was further revealed that 40 wt% of FePc to carbon support allowed for the best power generation. These results suggest that proper control of the non-precious metal catalyst layer and substrate concentration are highly interrelated, and reveal how those combinations promote the economic power generation of single-chamber MFCs.

  • Al doped ZnO thin films have been were properties of excellent optical transmittance, low resistivity and wide bandgap where be widely used transparent electrode on solar cell. In this paper, ZnO:Al thin films on PC substrate were prepared by RF magnetron sputtering method using ceramic taget with diffrent deposition conditions. In addition, the electrical, structural, optical properties were investigated. we investigated sample properties of Sputter powers and pressures change in $25{\sim}125W,\;2{\times}10^{-2}{\sim}2{\times}10^{-3}Torr$.

Bending Effects of ITO Thin Film Deposited on the Polymer Substrate (고분자 기판에 증착한 ITO 박막의 Bending 효과)

  • ITO thin film was deposited on PC substrate in Facing Targets Sputtering (FTS) system with various sputtering conditions. After it is applied to external bending force, we investigated how change the surface and electrical property of as-deposited ITO thin film. As the L(face-plate distance) of substrate decreases, it found that the maximum crack density is increasing at the center position and decreasing crack density as goes to the edge. So to apply same curvature (r) and bending force to PC substrate with ITO thin film, we fixed the L that is equal to curvature radius (2r). Before bending test, ITO thin films that deposited in the input current of 0.4 A and thickness of 200 nm already had biaxial tensile failure because of each different CTE (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion) and Others had been shown no bending or crack. After bending test, all samples had been shown cracks at about 200 times and as increasing the crack density, resistivity increased.

  • Expose equipment system that is used for manufacturing process of Flat Panel Display, is most important equipment in whole process. Expose equipment that is for making pattern of mask on substrate, consists of optical part, stage part and transport part. The stage is an important part that aligns mask and substrate for delivering pattern of mask to substrate exactly. In this paper, control system of expose stage that is able to use mask and substrate of diverse size, with PC controller using GUI interface instead of PLC control system. The existing PLC control system does not have the suitable structure for using mask of diverse size. GUI interface integration control system is based on PC. So it has the advantage of convenient use and active operation. We embodied PLC control system in integration control system based on PC, and verified utility possibility through the standard test course.

  • We report on the fabrication of organic-based flexible display using an amorphous IZO anode grown at room temperature. The IZO anode films were grown by a conventional DC reactive sputtering on polycarbonate (PC) substrate at room temperature using a synthesized IZO target in a Ar/$O_2$ ambient. X-ray diffraction examination results show that the IZO anode film grown at room temperature is complete amorphous structure due to low substrate temperature. It is shown that the $Ir(ppy)_3$ doped flexible organic light emitting diode (OLED) fabricated on the IZO anode exhibit comparable current-voltage-luminance characteristics to OLED fabricated on conventional ITO/glass substrate. These findings indicate that the IZO anode film grown on PC substrate is a promising anode materials for the fabrication of organic based flexible displays.

  • As metallic surface has its unique lustrous appearance and optical reflectance in visible range of light, the metallization of plastic surface has been an essential drive toward weight reduction for fuel economy and decorations in transportation industry and has been put into practiced from wet chemical-electrochemial to dry vacuum process in view of an environmental effect. Electron-beam metallization was used in this work with an aim at improving the scratchproof surface hardness of plastic substrate with metallic finish character. Thin film of Al ($1000\AA$) and $SiO_2$($7000\AA$) were metallized on substrate of PC and PMMA and the films were evaluated by pencil test for surface hardness and by cross-cut tape test for adhesion. The ion beam treatment improved around twice as hard as non-treat surface. The ion beam is effect on its hardness and adhesion to surface hardened PC substrate.

  • The ITO thin films were prepared by facing targets sputtering (FTS) system on polycarbonate (PC) substrate. The ITO thin films were deposited with a film thickness of 100 nm at room temperature. As a function of sputtering conditions, electrical and optical properties of prepared ITO thin films were measure. The electrical and optical characteristics of the ITO thin films were evaluted by Hall Effect Measurement (EGK) and UV/VIS spectrometer (HP), respectively. From the results, the ITO thin films was deposited with a resistivity $8{\times}10^{4}\;{\Omega}-cm$ and transmittance over 80 %.

Effect of Supplementation of Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 Grown on Citrus-juice Waste and Corn-soybean Meal Substrate on Growth Performance, Nutrient Retention, Caecal Microbiology and Small Intestinal Morphology of Broilers

  • A feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 grown on citrus-juice waste and corn-soybean substrate on growth performance, nutrient retention, caecal microbial population and intestinal morphology in broilers. Three hundred twenty d-old Ross chicks were randomly allotted to 4 treatments on the basis of BW in a randomized complete block design. Each treatment had 4 replicates of 20 chicks in each. Experimental diets were fed in 2 phases, starter (d 0 to 21) and finisher (d 21 to 35). Dietary treatments were; negative control (NC: basal diet without any antimicrobial), positive control (PC: basal diet added with 20 mg/kg Avilamycin), basal diet added with 0.30% Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 grown on corn-soybean substrate (P1), and basal diet added with 0.30% Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 grown on citrus-juice waste substrate (P2). Overall BW gain, feed intake and FCR were better (p<0.05) in PC, P1 and P2 treatments as compared to NC. Moreover, overall BW gain and FCR in PC and P2 treatments were greater than P1. Retention of CP, GE (d 21, d 35) and DM (d 35) were increased (p<0.05) in treatments PC, P1 and P2 compared with NC. At d 35, caecal Clostridium and Coliform counts were lower (p<0.05) in treatments PC, P1 and P2 than NC. Moreover, Clostridium and Coliform counts in treatment PC was lower (p<0.05) than P1. Villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratio in both duodenum and ileum were increased (p<0.05) in treatments PC, P1, P2 as compared to NC. However, retention of nutrients, caecal microbial population and intestinal morphology remained comparable among treatments P1 and P2. It is concluded that Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2 inclusion at 0.30% level had beneficial effects on broilers' growth performance, nutrient retention, caecal microflora and intestinal morphology. Additionally, citrus-juice waste can be used as substrate for growth of probiotic Bacillus subtilis LS 1-2.
