  • 홈 PC에 저장된 미디어 콘텐츠 파일을 다양한 용도로 활용하기 위한 사용자의 관심이 커짐에 따라, 홈 PC의 콘텐츠 활용에 대한 연구도 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 원격에서 홈 PC의 콘텐츠에 직접 접근하여 실시간으로 파일을 검색하고 재생하는 방법에 대해서는 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 콘텐츠 관리 및 홈 데이터베이스를 포함하는 미디어 라이브러리, 그리고 미디어 라이브러리에게 명령을 주고받으며 원격 콘텐츠를 재생하는 미디어 브라우저로 이루어진 홈-모바일 콘텐츠 공유 시스템을 제안하고 설계 및 구현한다.

  • The purpose of this research is to help IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) commercialization using newly produced educational contents in the area of entertainment and education which currently popular in the market. It is called, Stimulus $Tester^{TM}$, endow reaction time from the feedback of learning system, using a non-direct method, for example, a remote controller. Reaction time is the learning efficiency promotion mechanism that learner ascertain the learning condition of oneself by the time with solved questions from the solving the question in given time. Reaction time also play a key role that the learner may go through course which distribute the point to PC from Server. If this system is ready, we expect that the educational industry will gradually spread out. To verify the learning efficiency of this system, we concluded that the learning improvements, by an Internet-based and a paper-based test, of the increase by 51%, from 2.47min to 1.27min, during reaction of 7 days.

  • This paper describes a design and implementation of an analog detector and a fire alarm system with recent technology on information and communication. A hierarchical architecture design from the detector to the main system enables to accommodate medium to large size buildings located nearby or far-away. And a software design from communication protocol to application program handles large amount of events efficiently to show information on a large LCD. A PC-based alarm system provides higher speed and larger capacity in a large LCD screen compared with foreign microprocessor-based small screen systems. Thus, very large buildings with several thousands of analog detectors can be easily covered in a single system. When an alarm occurs, a staff alarm scenario specially attempted only in the system is considered to play a major role to distinguish a real fire from unwanted alarms.

  • This study implemented a remote control system using PDA based on WINDOWS CE. NET. In existing remote control systems, the user generally controls remote objects and obtain data using a computer, which is a local system connected to the internet, and the remote objects are connected to server computers. In order to control remote objects, the user has to have a computer, a space to use the Internet, and wired internet. The system proposed in this study uses an embedded board as a server and PDA as a client. Thus, the user can control remote objects at any place as long as wireless internet is available. In addition, because an embedded board is used as a server, the system has the characteristics of high performance and low power consumption. The proposed system provides not only remote control environment using PDA but also conventional control environment using a computer as a client. In case PDA is not available, remote objects still can be controlled from any place as long as there are wired internet and a computer.

  • The DVR system supports multiple cameras and should be able to receive images at 30 frames per channel in real time. Thus, The system is using Full-HD-grade Multiplexer and Hardware compression codec. In this paper, Describing the design and implementation for the 4-channel Full-HD-grade PC-based DVR using FPGA and GPU inside CPU without Multiplexer and Hardware codec. The existing DVR system for Full-HD-grade has drawbacks to acquire images of about only 20 frames per channel in real time. The system to acquire images of multiple channel in real time was designed using FPGA. The software for the system was implemented using Intel Media SDK. At the result of performance evaluation, It was satisfied all for the required conditions. The practicality of the system was confirmed as implementation the system without using hardware compression.

  • In this paper, an efficient technique is proposed to integrate the 3D user interface with the tiled display system in PC cluster environment. In the developed 3D user interface software, various menus are provided to increase the user friendliness of the interface, including the several model-control-commands. To eliminate the noise produced from the 3D user interface devices, the box filtering algorithm is employed. Further, a communication splitting algorithm, which is a kind of asynchronous communication method, is proposed to reduce the motion delay between the 3D interface and the tiled display system, and its efficiency is validated through the benchmarking tests.

  • Currently, studies have show that the network related energy consumption are increasing. and part of overall energy consumption of our society are too. So, that is important to look for energy-efficient network applications and protocols. A most of network energy consumption are due to network edge devices. in this paper, in order to cut down the emissions of carbon dioxide from ICT business, which contributes 2% of the global energy consumption, it is necessary to understand energy consumption in peer-to-peer system. In this paper, in this paper we propose a architecture based on the introduction of a p2p proxy. The model is analyzed analytically and numerically to reveal how these factors influence the overall power consumption in both steady state and flash crowd information exchange scenarios. Specifically, our results show that the proxy-based solution can provide up to 50% reduction in the energy consumption and, at the same time, a significant reduction in the average file download time.

  • 본 연구에서는 여러 대의 저해상도 프로젝터 영상을 결합하여 인간의 시야각을 채울 수 있는 하나의 고해상도 영상처럼 보이게 만드는 타일드 디스플레이(tiled display) 기법을 활용하여 가상 현실 기반 몰입형 시스템을 제작한다. 제안된 시스템은 총 8대의 프로젝터를 이용해 4096 x 1536의 고해상도 화면을 구현하며 유효 해상도는 3200 x 1200을 구현하였다. 각 프로젝터 출력 영상간의 연결 이음매가 두드러지지 않는 심리스(seamless) 기법을 활용해 관찰자의 높은 몰입감을 획득할 수 있었다. 제안된 시스템에서는 반도체 CMOS 공정을 가상 현실 공간에 구현하여 다수의 학습자들에게 기존의 정적인 이미지로 전달되던 반도체 제조 공정을 보다 효율적으로 학습하도록 돕고 있다. 구성된 시스템은 일반 개인용 PC 시스템 한 대로 구현이 가능하여 상대적으로 저렴한 가격으로 시스템을 구성할 수 있어 가상 현실 기반 몰입형 기술 교육 시스템의 대중화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Implementation of Virtual Violin with a Kinect (키넥트를 이용한 가상 바이올린 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a virtual violin implementation using the detection of bowing and finger dropping position from the estimated finger tip and finger board information with the 3D image data from a Kinect. Violin finger board pattern and depth information are extracted from the color image and depth image to detect the touch event on the violin finger board and to identify the touched position. Final decision of activated musical alphabet is carried out with the finger drop position and bowing information. Our virtual violin uses PC MIDI to output synthesized violin sound. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can detect finger drop position and bowing detection with high accuracy. Virtual violin can be utilized for the easy and convenient interface for a beginner to learn playing violin with the PC-based learning software.

  • PDA는 작은 몸체로 이동성 및 편리성 등이 PC보다 뛰어나지만, 처리 속도가 상대적으로 느리기 때문에 해상도가 큰 이미지, 높은 처리 속도를 요구하는 작업 등을 처리하기에는 효율성이 낮은 문제점이 있다. 또한 정보를 Display할 수 있는 액정이 매우 작아서 환자와 관련된 의료 영상 즉, MRI 사진이나 X-ray 사진 등을 자세히 보기에는 현재의 기술력으로는 매우 어렵다. 그리고 특히 다수의 PDA와 PC 클라이언트의 데이터 요청으로 인한 서버의 과부하 문제 또한 모바일 진료시스템의 발전에 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 처리 속도와 Display의 제한을 대처하기 위하여 모바일 다중처리 시스템과 작업 이양 시스템을 구성하기 위한 하나의 방법론을 제안한다.
