소프트웨어 기반의 개방형 제어기에 대한 이해와 개발 (Understanding and Development of Software-based Open Architecture Controller)

  • Open architecture controller (OAC) is well known technology in factory automation. To better understand the requirements of OAC, authors have discussed the OAC related topics with a number of control experts who represents different segments of the machining industry. There is no common concept that is accepted or used, however, the common ideas for OAC is the control system that is hardware independent, interchangeable, and easily scalable. This paper presents summary of the understaning and requirements of OAC. Based on the requirements of OAC, authors developed the software based PC-CNC. The main focus of the PC-CNC was on the user customization capability and open interface between control networks in manufacturing system. This paper introduces the developed PC-CNC briefly. In addition to introduction of the PC-CNC, to fill the gap between end users and vendors of OAC, this paper presents two applications using OAC. One is a remote monitoring system. The OPC (Ole for Process Control) standard interface was used to monitor the status of open architecture CNC across network. The other is the remote production management module for machine tools using standard database interface.

PC기반CNC시스템을 위한 Look Ahead 보간 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Look Ahead Interpolation Algorithm For PC Based CNC System)

  • This research aims to develop Look Ahead position interpolation algorithm for small size CNC machine controlled by PC based controller. Look Ahead scheme can process a bundle of CNC's linear interpolation commands simultaneously, which reduces acceleration and deceleration time within single linear interpolation command. The algorithm is derived as simple analytical form which can be adapted to PC based CNC system by C language programming. The performance of the algorithm was verified by tail stock machining G codes experimentally. The average traverse speed of the CNC machine was increased by 27.5% and the total traverse time also reduced by 27.2% with the Look Ahead scheme.

  • 현재, 국내 CNC 산업분야는 제조업의 패러다임 변화에 따라 공작기계에 첨단 기술의 적용이 활발하게 추진되고 있다. 즉, 공작기계의 제어를 담당하는 CNC의 IT화는 가장 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 하지만 공작기계 분야에 모션제어 전문기술 부족의 가장 큰 이유는 PC기반의 컨트롤러의 경우 비중을 많이 차지하는 윈도우즈 언어를 사용하기 보다는 G-Code를 직접 좌표에 맞춰 코딩하거나 값비싼 외산 S/W를 통해 변환 하는 경우가 대부분이기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 형태의 CAD 데이터를 손쉽게 G-Code 데이터로 변환할 수 있는 G-Code 변환 프로그램 및 CAD&CAM과 응용 소프트웨어를 개발하고 이 변환된 데이터를 바로 로봇을 통해 원하는 동작을 시킬 수 있는 전용 모션 컨트롤러를 구현한다.

  • In this study, PC-based dicing machine and driving software were constructed for the purpose of automation of wafer cutting process. To automate the machine, hard automation including vision, loading, and software were considered in the development. Auto loading device and vision system were adopted for the increase of productivity, GUI software programmed for the expedient operation. The dicing machine is operated by the control algorithm and some parameters. It is verified that this kind of PC based automation has a great potential compared with the conventional dicing machine when applied to manufacturing some kinds of wafers as a test purpose.

  • In this study, PC-based slicing machine and driving software were constructed for the purpose of automation of semi-conductor cutting process. The biggest feature of software is variation of parameter and include data base, signal monitoring, error report, corresponding action or automatic motion planing. Parameters were drawn and algorithms were developed to make software by GUI interface. The cutting experiment was done for sampled wafer to see the effectiveness of the soft automation. From the experimented and implemented results, it is shown that parameters for automation of slicing process could be drawn, then its algorithms constructed. It could be considered what is the merit of this slicing machine by comparing the PC-based and the NC-based.

  • In this paper, we proposed a PC-based CNC control system using EtherCAT-based servo drive and I/O device. The default communication of LinuxCNC is a parallel port, and data processing with high bandwidth is impossible. However, it is possible to apply various bandwidth devices through the application of EtherCAT, one of the industrial Ethernet communications with high bandwidth. Therefore, the hardware control method of LinuxCNC was applied through EtherCAT communication from the existing parallel port. Finally, through HAL configuration, I/O device operation check and 3-axis motion control proved the LinuxCNC system with EtherCAT.

  • Most of NC machines are operated by Is06983 standard called G-code, which was developed in the early days of machine tools. This G-code limits hardware performance of the currently developed high-performance hardware & machine tools. By describing only movements of tool, almost all of information of previous production departments is lost, and the machining department cannot exchange information with other departments. For adjusting new hardware environment and direct communication of CNC machines with CAD/CAM software, ISO 14649, STEP -NC is researched. This new standard stores CAD/CAM information as well as operation commands of CNC machines. In this research, the new CNC machine operated by STEP-NC was built and tested. Unlike other STEP-NC milling machines, this system uses the STEP-NC file in form of XML as data input. It makes possible for STEP-NC machines to exchange information to other databases using XML. The mentioned system of this paper loads the XML file, analyzes it, makes tool paths of two5D features with information of STEP-NC, and machines automatically without making G-code. All of software is programmed with Visual C++, and the milling machine is made with table milling machine, step motors, and motion control board for PC that can be directly controlled by C++ commands. All modules of software and hardware were independent, it allows convenient for substitution and expansion of the milling machine. The example 1 in ISP14649-11 that had all information about geometry and machining and the example 2 that has only geometry and tool information were used to test automatic machining by the open-architecture milling machine.

  • In contrast to conventional CNC, PC-NC opens a new era for machine tools to be more intelligent. For instance, machine tool with PC-NC can be a machine agent system with capability of reacting autonomously to changing operating conditions. This paper introduces a concept of intelligent machine agent system, composed of machine agent and cell manager. Machine agent performs the functions such as process monitoring, diagnosis, maintenance management, condition assessment and schedule negotiation, while cell manager coordinates the negotiation process among multiple machine agents.

PC기반의 생산시스템을 위한 운용소프트웨어 구조 (An Operating Software Architecture for PC-based)

  • In this paper, a new architecture of operating software associated with the component-based method is proposed. The proposed architecture comprises 문 execution module and a decision-making module. In order to make effective development and maintenance, the execution module is divided into three components. The components are referred to as Symbol, Gateway, and Control, respectively: The symbol component is for the GUI environments and the standard interfaces; the gateway component is for the network communication and the structure of asynchronous processes; the control component is for the asynchronous processing and machine setting or operations. In order to verify the proposed architecture, and off-line version of operating software is made, and its steps are as follows; I) Make virtual execution modules for the manufacturing devices such as dual-arm robot, handling robot, CNC, and sensor; ii) Make decision-making module; iii) Integrate the modules and GUI using a well-known development tools such as Microsofts Visual Basic; iv) Execute the overall operating software to validate the proposed architecture. The proposed software architecture in this paper has the advantages such as independent development of each module, easy development of network communication, and distributed processing of resources, and so on.
