  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to ascertain the degree of students' educational satisfaction according to their Problem-based learning strategy. Method: The subjects were 277 nursing students in C College. A questionnaire modified by researchers was used and analyzed by the SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Result: This study showed that there's a positive relationship between the level of students' educational satisfaction and their learning strategies, including collaborative, self-directed, self-expression and time management strategies. Those who were in the second year and those who have considered temporary absence from school and/or change of academic courses used the least learning strategies and showed the lowest level of educational satisfaction. The top three learning strategies influencing educational satisfaction were time management, collaborative strategies and self-directed strategies respectively. Self-expression strategy was not statistically significant as an influencing factor on educational satisfaction. Conclusion: The more learning strategies that are used, the higher the level of educational satisfaction as a whole. Further studies on how to increase student's educational satisfaction and a way to advance in learning strategies are recommended.

  • This study investigated the effects of TBL nursing education(for the care of congestive heart failure patients) on self identity and self efficacy among nursing students. A one-group, pre-post design was utilized with 28 nursing students as the participants. The scenario of TBL nursing education was created based on PBL, and consisted of four states(1) Present a problem, (2) Problem Follow-Up Steps,(3) Present the results including presentation, and(4) Problem Conclusion and after resolution. And then In-depth interviews were conducted with volunteers on program experiences. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients and paired t-tests and Giorgi phenomenology analysis method was performed. The TBL program was effective in self - efficacy and self - identity (p<0.01) increased significantly after the education intervention and The meaning of the TBL experience is four (meaning that the learners embarrassed TBL, aggressive learning attitude change, effective collaboration for problem solving in a free learning environment, university classes imagined in high school), and 67 sub-components appeared as an element. The TBL program is an effective teaching method for nursing education and it can be used as basic data for the development of nursing education based on this research.

  • This study is a descriptive research study to investigate the mediating effect of self-leadership in the relationship between metacognition and proactivity of problem solving and the effect of metacognition on proactivity of problem solving of nursing students. 194 fourth-year nursing students who experienced in-school simulation practice at a university were selected as subjects for the study. Data were collected from September to December 2021 using a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlations and parametric regression using the SPSS 22.0 program. It was found that metacognition and problem-solving proactiveness and self-leadership had a quantitative correlation, and it was analyzed that metacognition and self-leadership had a significant effect on problem-solving proactiveness. Also, it was found that self-leadership is partially mediated in the relationship between metacognition and problem-solving proactiveness. According to the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a program that can improve the elements of metacognition and self-leadership in order to increase the problem-solving activity of nursing students through problem-centered learning integrated simulation education.

  • Purpose: This study was done to analyze core competencies affecting critical thinking ability of student nurses. Core competencies investigated in this study were problem solving ability, communication ability and self-directed learning ability. Method: Data were collected from a convenience sample of 322 student nurses in 2 provinces during the period from May 21 to June 8, 2007. Critical thinking, problem solving ability, communication ability and self-directed learning ability were measured using the Disposition towards Critical Thinking Scale by Park(1999-a) and the Core Competencies Scale by Lee(2003). Descriptive statistics and correlation coefficients with the SPSS WIN 12.0 program were used to analyze the data. Results: There were significant differences in the critical thinking according to grade, type of high school, experience with PBL, preference for lecture-based learning, preference for discussion and perceived logicality. The score for critical thinking showed significantly positive correlations with scores for problem solving ability(r=0.54, p=0.00), communication ability(r=0.56, p=0.00) and self-directed learning ability(r=0.54, p=0.00). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that problem solving ability, communication ability and self-directed learning ability are significant factors affecting critical thinking in student nurses.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an educational model based on the capacity analysis of college students. In order to measure the learning ability of female science and engineering students, we used various tools to derive core competencies. The competency element of human resources implementation, the element of learning achievement area in the undergraduate education actual condition survey, and the analysis of the learning achievement elements of the engineering certification program were analyzed and the development of teaching method was searched to find ways to increase the competence of female students. In addition, we developed a model that can apply the development of pedagogy in the curriculum to the liberal arts, majors, and comparative courses, and presented the internship in field experience area, the improvement of on the spot learning, and teaching method and guidance to enhance the female students' competence. Also, as a case study of the proposed teaching method, new curriculum of 'Understanding of Big Data' which is the basis of the fourth industrial revolution technology in the second semester of 2016 was developed and applied to the education model. The results of this study are very positive, and we can expect the effectiveness of the new education model to enhance the learning ability and capacity of female students.

  • Robot education has the favorable influence on creativity and problem-solving ability of students. Therefore, it is commonly known to elementary school students, their parents and teacher through robot education for after school and contests. However, it has not been actively taught at university of education students because of the lack of systematic education program. In this paper, we have developed robot education program using problem-based learning and educational robot for pre-service elementary teachers. We have examined their recognition on robot education and education program after applying the developed program. Interviews for improving robot education program were also conducted. We find out robot education program has the favorable influence on the recognition, satisfaction and effectiveness for robot education. In particular, we know that education will related to robot was augmented by this education program.

  • In this paper, we have selected traveling algorithms of Line-Tracer as the focused learning elements with the PBL-based programming instruction method. Line-Tracer traveling algorithm programming has been simulated using the Scratch EPL. Development of robot web courseware such as Line-Tracer can create an effective educational environment and also provide solutions for lack of environmental conditions, such as time or spatial factor restrictions and excessive expense issues; these are major obstacles to developing robot programming education. Finally, we analyzed the effects on growth of student's logical thinking and problem solving abilities by demonstrating the Scratch application courseware to the field of elementary education.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to evaluate the satisfaction and utility of a clinical training in Pediatrics of Korean Medicine after conducting participatory practices in clinical training. Methods A survey was conducted with 46 students who completed a clinical training in 2019. After completing Problem Based Learning (PBL), Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and Clinical Performance Examination (CPX), they filled out the questionnaire composed of 15 questions. In addition, it was required to rank the preferences for clinical training items and describe what was good about, things that need to be improved or corrected, and other areas to be implemented as a part of the clinical training. Results 1. Mean of the total satisfaction score was 4.26. Mean satisfaction score of the educational method was 4.25, and mean score of the utility of educational effectiveness was 4.27. 2. Among the questions that evaluate satisfaction of the education program, 'I agree with OSCE as a part of the clinical training for juniors.' showed the highest score. Among the questions that evaluate utility of educational effectiveness, 'It will be helpful to treat patients as a Korean Medicine doctor in the future' showed the highest score. On the other hand, 'I actively participated in the clinical training' showed the lowest score. Conclusions A clinical training in Pediatrics of Korean Medicine can be highly valued from the viewpoint of the satisfaction and its utility.
