A Side-Fed Circularly-Polarized Patch Antenna with a Dielectric Loading

  • In this paper, we present the design and measurement of a side-fed circularly-polarized patch antenna with a dielectric loading. The antenna consists of a comer-truncated rectangular patch, an L-shaped ground plane, a dielectric loading material, and a coaxial probe. An antenna operating at the UHF band (910 MHz) for the RFID reader applications is optimized using a commercial software. The size of the patch is reduced by a factor of 1.73 by loading the patch with mono-cast(MC) nylon. Measurements of the fabricated antenna show performance characteristics comparable to those of much larger commercial RFID reader antennas.

  • In this paper, a integrated structure of a two-element microstrip patch antenna with two feeds for GPS/PCS dual-band operation is proposed. The radiating element for PCS operation is a novel broad band low-profile cylindrical monopole top-loaded with a shorted meander patch, which gives linearly polarized conical radiation pattern and size reduction of patch due to meander line. The radiating element for GPS operation is a novel square-ring microstrip patch with truncated corners and slits. which provide circularly polarized broadside radiation patterns and size reduction due to slots. using dielectric substrate in GPS antenna of proposed antenna provide to improve isolation between two feeds and reduce size of patch. The proposed antenna achieves the bandwidth and polarization requirements of GPS and PCS systems.

  • Recently, according to the various taste of consumers, the design of a product is changed variously and complicatedly. The complicated product is not usually constructed with one patch but multi-patch. By the way, in machining, higher precision and the reduction of leading and machining time is required. But for the multi-patch sculptured surface, the amount of machining data becomes large. This means the increase of leading and machining time. In this study, the tool path generation method with reparameterization is proposed for multi-patch sculptured surface and variable step size using NURBS is used to satisfy the precision and to reduce leading and machining time.

  • 본 논문에서는 Inset-fed 안테나의 급전구조를 변형하여 기존의 Inset-fed 안테나 보다 그 성능을 향상시킨 안테나를 설계 및 제작하였다. Patch 안테나에서 gap 결합에 의한 급전 방식을 기초로 하여 변형된 급전 방식을 Inset-fed 안테나에 적용하였다. 설계된 안테나는 FDTD에 의한 simulation을 수행하여 최적치를 얻었으며 제작된 안테나는 공진 주파수에서 511은 -l4dB이고 cross polarization level은 -20dB의 특성을 보였다.

  • Tetralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic congenital anomaly, which needs some operation for the survival. Perioperative mortality of the Tetralogy of Fallot was lowered remarkably in recent years, but some discussions were presented for the criteria of the corrective surgery and the corrective method of the pulmonary stenosis. In the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery of the Chunbug National University Hospital, 17 cases of tetralogy of Fallot were corrected totally from July in 1983 to August in 1984. In correction of the pulmonary stenosis, transannular patch was applied in B patients, infundibulectomy in 5, RVOT patch without transannular patch in 3, and isolated patches on RVOT and pulmonary trunk. Preoperative and early postoperative hemodynamic study revealed increased RA pressure in transannular patch group, which was significant statistically. [p<0.01]. Clinically, perioperative death occurred only in transannular patch group, and right heart failure signs including hepatomegaly, ascites, pleural effusion and peripheral edema were high in frequency in transannular patch group.

Broadband Stacked Patch Antenna with Low VSWR and Low Cross-Polarization

  • A low cross-polarization broadband stacked patch antenna is proposed. By means of the stacked patch configuration and probe-fed strip feed technique, the VSWR 1.2:1 bandwidth of the patch antenna is enhanced to 22% from 804 MHz to 1,002 MHz, which outperforms the other available patch antennas (<10%). Furthermore, the antenna has a cross-polarization level of less than -20 dB and a gain level of about 9 dBi across the operating bandwidth. Simulation results are compared with the measurements, and a good agreement is observed.

칼라 패치 변경을 이용한 축구 로봇 시스템의 성능 개선 (Performance Enhancement of Soccer Robot System by Changing Color Patch)

  • This paper proposes a novel method to enhance performance of soccer robot system using optimal color patch mounted on the robot. In soccer robot system, the position and orientation of the robot can be estimated with color patch under real time environment. However, the location estimation of the robot is very sensitive to the pattern of color patch. In addition, pattern recognition and navigation algorithm are operated independently to reduce the operation time. The experimental results show that the proposed pattern of patch is effective to reduce the position and orientation error of the robot.

Flexible Patch Rectennas for Wireless Actuation of Cellulose Electro-active Paper Actuator

  • This paper reports a flexible patch rectenna for wireless actuation of cellulose electro-active paper actuator (EAPap). The patch rectenna consists of rectifying circuit layer and ground layer, which converts microwave to dc power so as to wirelessly supply the power to the actuator. Patch rectennas are designed with different slot length at the ground layer. The fabricated devices are characterized depending on different substrates and polarization angles. The EAPap integrated with the patch rectenna is actuated by the microwave power. Detailed fabrication, characterization and demonstration of the integrated rectenna-EAPap actuator are explained.

Poisson Effect on Electromechanical Impedance of Unconstrained Piezoelectric Patch

  • In this study, the Poisson effect on resonant frequency behaviors of the unconstrained piezoelectric patch is investigated. The electromechanical impedance models for the un-bonded patch are derived from the two existing bonded patch models and numerical analysis for a given piezoelectric material is performed. From the analysis, it is found that the Poisson effect is not important as long as the electromechanical impedance model is used to predict the locations of resonant frequencies. However, Poisson effect should be considered when predicting the location of the largest resonant frequency of the patch since the amplitude responses are different with the model used.

  • High resolution satellite images have huge amount of pixels in common. Thus, an efficient method is required for the generation of orthoimages. Patch backprojection method is a feasible way to improve the efficiency with respect to the point-by-point patch backprojection. We will propose an Adaptive Patch that optimizes the patch size for different terrain variations. The essence of the patch optimization is quadrate structuring for terrain variations. The area of interest is, thus, sequentially subdivided to four quadrate tiles until a preset criterion is met. The experiment results indicated that the proposed method is efficient without losing accuracy.
