A study on the DC Capacitor Voltage control of 5 Level Inverter for Static Var Compensator (자려식 SVC용 5레벨 인버터의 직류측 콘덴서 전압제어에 관한 연구)

  • A five-level VSI(Voltage Source Inverter) is introduced as a SVC(Static Var Compensator) like a large scale power source. The problems in using SVC are that the power device can easily be destroyed by voltage unbalance and accurate reactive power control is difficult because of voltage variation. A asymmetrical PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation) switching pattern is proposed to solve this problem and analyze both fundamental component and harmonic current in the system. Through experimental results of 3.5 kVA experimental test system. It is confirmed that DC capacitor voltage can be controlled by asymmetrical PAM switching pattern control.

  • The efficiency of a synchronous motor can be substantially improved by controlling armature voltage, field excitation, and load angle on optimum values which yield minimum input power at any specified torque and speed. This improvement is particularly noticeable in the case of light loads. In addition, the control of armature input voltage improves the power factor at which the motor operates. Employed in the analysis is a new equivalent circuit model of the motor which incorporates the frequency dependent nature of the motor parameters and the effects of iron loss. The stability of synchronous motor operation is studied by applying the Nyquist stability criterion to the linearized equations which describe the behavior of the motor as the motor loads perturb about a steady-state operating point. This investigation reveals that, in some cases, the stable region of the motor is delineated from the results of a computer simulation. With a view to reducing harmonic loss and improving torque pulsation from harmonic components, a very poweful pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) method using an 16-bit microcomputer has been developed. This method has the advantages of simplicity of control algorithms and requires small memory space for storing thyristor trigger angles for a three-phase PAM inverter. The method can be used for smooth control of both modulation depth and frequency over a wide range.

On Design and Performance Analysis of Asymmetric 2PAM: 5G Network NOMA Perspective (비대칭 2PAM의 설계와 성능 분석: 5G 네트워크의 비직교 다중 접속 관점에서)

  • In non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), the degraded performance of the weaker channel gain user is a problem. In this paper, we propose the asymmetric binary pulse amplitude modulation (2PAM), to improve the bit-error rate (BER) performance of the weaker channel user in NOMA with the tolerable BER loss of the stronger channel user. First, we design the asymmetric 2PAM, calculate the total allocated power, and derive the closed-form expression for the BER of the proposed scheme. Then it is shown that the BER of the weaker channel user improves, with the small BER loss of the stronger channel user. The superiority of the proposed scheme is also validated by demonstating that the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain of the weaker channel user is about 10 dB, with the SNR loss of 3 dB of the stronger channel user. In result, the asymmetric 2PAM could be considered in NOMA of 5G systems. As a direction of the future research, it would be meaningful to analyze the achievable data rate for the propsed scheme.

  • An 8${\times}$8-Gb/s/channel 4-PAM transceiver was designed for high speed memory applications by using 70nm DRAM process with 1.35V supply. An asymmetric 4-PAM signaling scheme is proposed to increase the voltage and time margin of upper and lower eyes in 3-class eye opening. A mathematical basis shows that this scheme statistically reduces 33% of reference noise effect in a receiver. Also, an adaptive pre-emphasis scheme, which utilizes a lone-bit pulse with integrator at the receiver, is introduced to reduce ISI for a simple DRAM channel. In this scheme, an integrating clock timing calibration by using a pre-determined pattern is proposed for the optimum ISI measurement.

  • 본 논문은 LED Driver 휘도(Luminance) 제어 방식인 펄스폭 변조(PWM), 진폭변조 방식(PAM)을 조합한 스마트디밍 알고리즘에 대해 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 LED 구동 순방향 전류($I_f$)양에 따라 순방향 전압($V_f$)이 비례적으로 변화되는 특성을 이용한 것으로, LED Backlight 적용 LCM의 소비전력을 저감할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 디밍 (CPWAM=Conditional Pulse Width Amplitude Modulation) 알고리즘에 대해 소개하고 실험을 통해 제안된 알고리즘의 타당성을 검증한다.

  • This Paper presents a solution to control the Brushless DC Motor(BLDCM) in Hard Disk Drive(HDD) using the Linear Quadratic Regulator(LQR). Generally, The speed of BLDCM in HDD is controlled by the lead angle control or the input voltage control using PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation) etc. These control methods have speed overshoot in speed control and need the long time until BLDCM reaches at the steady state. In order to improve the performance, this paper present the PI speed controller using the LQR based on vector control and the rotor position detection methods at the space vector PWM inverter. The proposed methods are proved by the simulation and experimental results.

  • DSP를 이용한 Brushless DC (BLDC) 모터의 초고속 센서리스 제어 기법 및 그 결과가 제시된다. 초고속 BLDC 모터의 센서리스 제어를 위해서 주 제어기로 DSP TMS320C240이 사용되며 제어 기법으로는 Pulse Amplitude Modulation(PAM) 기법이 사용된다. RAM 제어 기법을 사용함으로서 인버터는 six-step 방식으로 구동되며 속도 제어는 인버터 DC 링크 앞 단 쵸퍼의 전압 제어에 의해 이루어진다. 회전자 위치는 역기전력 센싱 방식에 의해 추정되며 TMS320C240의 Event Manager Module에 입력되어 Commutation 위치 및 속도가 계산된다. 계산된 속도는 디지털 PI 제어 알고리즘에 의해 처리되며 제어기의 출력은 쵸퍼의 duty 비를 변화시킨다. 개발된 DSP 제어 보드 및 제어 알고리즘의 성능을 시험하기 위해 실험이 수행되었으며 전체 제어 알고리즘은 DSP TMS320C240의 어셈블리 프로그램에 의해 구현된다. 결과로 최고 속도 50000 [rpm]에서 이상적인 응답 특성을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, a digital signal processing circuit for Position Sensitive Detectors(PSDs) is introduced to substitute the conventional analog signal processing circuit and to compensate disadvantages of the PSD. In general, the analog circuits have the problems such as noise accumulation, sensitivity for environmental changes, and high cost for manufacturing. Moreover, the intrinsic nonlinearity problem of the PSD makes it hard to measure the position accurately because it is difficult to be overcome the problem by using the conventional analog circuits, which can be solved by using the digital signal processing circuit. The circuit is implemented by using a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).
