  • This study is about efficiency export and import of medical images According to the Type of Compression. PACS to be used in many hospitals and medical images export is growing more and more because cheaper and good usability than film system. Thereby export department takes a lot of time, which may cause the patient discomfort. Compression images takes less time for images export, import than nocompression images. therefore, if no significant problems clinicians to view the images, this is one method to compressed images export for reduce the time and it will provide less cost and shorter time for patient.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 의료부분에 많은 혜택을 주는 PACS라는 시스템을 중소병원에 맞게 설계하였다. PACS는 초기 도입 비용과 불확실한 투자효과에 의해서 많은 개인, 중소병원들이 도입하기 어려워하는 시스템 중 하나였다. 그러한 문제점으로 현재 대형병원에서만 사용 중인 PACS를 중소 병원급 PACS 시스템으로 연구하는데 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 병원 정보 시스템을 수용하면서도 Full PACS의 네트워크 관리모듈의 비중과 시스템 연동을 위한 WorkList Server 기능을 제한하고 특정기기에 대한 생산성 향상을 목적으로 전체가 아닌 단위별로 운영되는 중소병원용 Departmental PACS에 대해 기술하였다.

  • Currently many researches are going on a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) which can handle a large number of image data very efficiently. However, the price of those systems are very expensive to a small and medium hospital. In this paper, we developed a PC based Mini-PACS at a low price with a high performance. The main components of the designed system are: Image processing and display for a diagnosis, Client/Server database management system, Multi-monitor display system, Connection through the World Wide Web with Common Gateway Interface.

  • 사회 전반에 걸친 정보화의 물결은 각종 새로운 패러다임을 형성해 가고 있다. 이와 더불어 매우 보수적이고 일반인이 접근하기에는 다분히 폐쇄적인 병원환경에서도 정보화의 필요성을 절감하고 정보화의 도입이 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 의학분야의 정보화를 이루기 위해 PACS(Picture Archiving and Communications System)가 개발되었으며 현재는 여러 병원에서 이를 도입하여 업무향상과 경비절감을 이루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 PACS에 대한 간략한 소개와 PACS를 구성하는 여러 가지 구성 요소들에 대한 설명 및 PACS 도입에 따른 여러 가지 장점들과, 본 논문에서 제안하는 PACS용 Server System의 설계 및 구현에 대하여 논의한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 전산화 및 통합된 환경에서 의료정보처리 요구사항을 만족시키기 위하여 만성질환 클러스터링 기법을 제안하고, 이를 서비스 지향형 PACS-Grid 플랫폼에 적용하여 그 성능을 평가한다. 마지막으로 제안된 시스템 형상이 기존의 PACS-Grid 보다 데이터 처리 성능이 개선되었음을 보여준다.

Usefulness of FTP Module on OCS for PACS Registration of External Medical Images (외부의료영상의 PACS 등록 시 OCS상 FTP Module의 유용성)

  • This study was conducted to improve performance flow of PACS registration and output of external medical images by developing or adding File Transfer Protocol(FTP) Module on Order Communication System(OCS) and to upgrade efficiency of performance. The numbers of requests for examination of external medical images from January 2004 to December 2007 were investigated and the numbers of cases of examinations and losses were done respectively from January to June, 2007 as a period before the improvement and from July to December, 2007 as a period after it. Satisfaction of persons inputting external medical images of CD was asked directly before and after the improvement. When the numbers of requests for examination of external medical images from 2004 to 2007 2004 were investigated, they were 12,783, 16,774, 21,613 and 27,487 cases in 2004, 2005, 2005 and 2007 respectively. For the numbers of the requests from January to December, 2007 it was the lowest in February by recording 1846 and it was 2800 in October. While the number of loss of external medical images was averagely 3.6 before using FTP Module on OCS, it reduced to 0 and satisfaction increased to 98% after it. By utilizing FTP Module on OSC for PACS registration of external medical images, the images were delivered simultaneously with occurrence of order, PACS registration of many patients was conducted together and CDs were returned to patients immediately after sending images from outpatient clinics or wards to remove possibility of losing them. In addition, because the module was established on OCS and data were sent associated with order, problems related with order were decreased. By eliminating movement distance it was turned out to be very effective in terms of time and space.

  • In the past high cost and complex system configuration often discouraged hospitals from building teleradiology system or PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System). But new standard platforms enable us to construct the same system with very low cost and simple configurations. internet as a communication channel made us overcome the regional limit and communication cost, and WWW technologies simplified the complex problems on the software developments, configurations and installations. So whoever has a Web browser to access internet can review medical images at anywhere. And we adopted DICOM technology which is a standard for medical imaging, thus we could resolve the interface problems among medical imaging systems such as modalities or archives. The implementation is comprised of three part DICOM/WWW interface subsystem, image format conversion subsystem and viewing applets which are displayed on users WWW browsers. In addition, Teleradiology intrenet PACS system includes DICOM converter that non-DICOM file format converts standard file format.

  • Application of information system to hospital would bring innovative improvement on efficiency of business management and provide high quality services toward patients as well as the retrenchment of operating funds. PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System) including X-ray film that manages the medical image information effectively, has drawn considerable attention to essential structural elements to the sophisticated information system for hospital. PACS system should be connected to the network after making a form of standard medical image file from different style of image information obtained from various medical instruments. In this paper, to solve this problem, we construct Mini-PACS that converts the form of Non-DICOM file to the form of standard file by designing the DICOM converter. This system is designed to be managed under Web environment. Comparing with the existed Mini-PACSs, consisting of the client and server module, our system is designed and implemented with integration of these functions in order to be strongly combine strongly between system.

  • The NARO is South Korea's first carrier launch vehicle, which made its flights from NARO Space Center on 25 August 2009 and 10 June 2010. LV PACS(Preparation Automated Control System) is a electrical ground support system to monitor and control the integrated launch vehicle during the launch preparation and operation in Launch Complex. As a subsystem of LV PACS, LV PACS-II was developed for launch preparation and operation of the NARO upper stage, and all the functions and requirements were verified successfully through NARO flight tests. In this paper the core technology and characteristics applied to LV PACS-II are described.

Measurement Analytical Study of Computed Tomography of the Orbital Structure in Acute Blow-out Fracture (안와파열골절 급성기의 CT영상을 이용한 계측학적인 연구)

  • Purpose: Blow-out fracture is one of the most common fractures in facial trauma. It is diagnosed by Computed Tomography(CT) scan, which is considered as the most effective diagnostic tool. Since, the Picture Archiving Communication System(PACS) has been provided recently to many hospitals, doctors are more familiar with imaging software of PACS. Because this software has many useful measuring tools, doctors can measure orbital structure easily and make a plan for treatment with its data. Therefore, authors intended to analyze the data of orbital structure measured with PACS imaging software and evaluate its usefulness. Methods: The charts and CT images of 100 patients, which were 50 patients with medial wall fracture and 50 patients with floor fracture, were reviewed. Patients were selected by pre-determined criteria and their CT images were measured with image software of PACS. 'Extraocular muscle thickness', 'Defect ratio'(ratio of defect area to normal area) and 'Globe position index' were measured and analyzed statistically. Results: The thickness of inferior rectus muscle and medial rectus muscle was simultaneously increased in acute-stage of blow-out fracture. The medial rectus muscle was more thickened in medial wall fracture and inferior rectus was more thickened in floor fracture, respectively. In acute blow-out fracture, globe position is exophthalmic rather than enophthalmic. Especially in floor fracture, numerical value summed up thickness of all extraocular muscle is correlated to the defect ratio and globe position index. Conclusion: Clinicians can decide globe position or presume defect ratio in inferior wall fracture by measurement of CT image in acute blow-out fracture using PACS.
