  • P2P(peer to Peer) network is a distributed network architecture composed of participants that make a portion of their resources directly available to other network participants, without the need for a central server. Currently, convergence network industry using wired and mobile are grows rapidly. So P2P protocols will be used between mobile and wired network. But current P2P protocols are focused on the wired networks only and there are no simulators for performance analysis of mobile P2P. In this paper, we design a P2P simulation system for performance analysis of P2P protocols in mobile, wired and convergence networks. It is constructed by a well-known mobile network simulator and wired based P2P protocol simulator. Finally we have implemented a smart TV test-bed using our P2P test-bed for convergence networks.

  • P2P network environments provide users with direct data transmission and sharing facilities and those environments can be classified into hybrid P2P network environments and pure P2P network environments according to the arbitration mechanism among the peers in the network. In hybrid P2P network environments, there exists a server that maintains index information for the data to be shared and network isolation does not occur because every peer always keeps connection to the server. In pure P2P network environments, however, each peer directly connects to another peer and gets services without server intervention, and so, network isolation can occur when the mediating peer fails to work. In this paper. we propose a scheme for each peer to keep connection to other peers continuously by maintaining IP addresses of its neighbor peers and connecting to the peers when the mediating peer fails to work. Although the P2P application that uses our proposed framework should obtain one or more IP addresses of the neighbor peers manually, after instantiation, the application can do its job while maintaining connection to the network continuously and automatically. To evaluate our proposed scheme, we measured and analyzed the time for a peer to reconnect to the network when the mediating peer fails and the network isolation occurs.

  • Home network providers have many worries about providing home network services with an expandable, reliable, flexible and low-cost structure according to the expanding market environment. The existing client-server system has various problems such as complexity and high costs in providing home network services. In this paper we propose the P2P-SIP structure. P2P communication terminal supporting access of distributed resources provides functions which the existing SIP-based network devices have. Because diverse terminals in a home network access through networks, also, partitioning network domains with home gateways to manage, and applying the network-based PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) technology considering mobility of terminals would help to have a more efficient home network structure. Especially, the proposed P2P-SIP structure proves itself as a very efficient structure to have an outstanding expandability among different home networks in a region, and to reduce maintenance costs.

  • P2P streaming technology has advantages of scalability and availability comparing to the popular IP multicast. This paper proposes an approach to apply the P2P streaming technology to the delay-sensitive multimedia multicast applications. In order for the P2P streaming to be applied to the delay-sensitive applications, prior construction of delay-guaranteed overlay network is necessarily required. Moreover, the delay-guaranteed overlay network should be able to be kept even when the hand-overs occur owing to the departures of the intermediate P2P peers. This paper proposes a delay-guaranteed overlay network construction method by using the bandwidth and end-to-end delay based admission control and the backup peer based hand-over control mechanism.

  • Recently P2P is the most popular network service on Internet and is applied various areas such as streaming, file sharing and software distribution, but there are many security threats depending on vulnerabilities by P2P network environments. Conceptually P2P network is a overlay network based on Internet, and it has security concerns of itself as well as those of Internet environments. In this paper, we analyze the vulnerabilities and threats for domestic P2P services through various experiments and describe their risk analysis. We expect that this work contributes to new domestic P2P services in consideration of service qualities and security vulnerabilities.

  • According to the arbitration mechanism among the peers in the network, the P2P networking environments can be classified into hybrid P2P networking environments and pure P2P networking environments. In hybrid P2P networking environments, each peer gets continual services from the servers that arc operational most of the time, and so, network isolation does not occur because every peer can always keep connection to the server. In pure P2P networking environments, however, every peer directly connects to another peer without server intervention, and so, network isolation can occur when the per mediating the connection is terminated. In this paper, we propose a scheme for each peer to keep connection information of other peers by maintaining IDs of its neighbor peers, to reconnect to another peers when the mediating peer fails to work. and, for efficiency. to balance the number of connections that should be maintained by each peer. With our mechanism, each pier in the network can continuously maintain connection to the network and get seamless services from other peers. Through the simulation, we ascer-tained that network isolation does not occur in the pure P2P network adopting our mechanism and that our mechanism distributes and balances the connections that are maintained by each peer. We also analyzed the total network traffic and the mean number of hops for the connections made by each peer according to the recommended number of connections that is established at system setup time.

  • Now, smart phone markets are grows quickly. So it is needed research of CDN(Contents Delivery Network) technology for contents transmission in mobile networks. Especially the services of smart phone are focused on open platform model. So P2P(Peer to Peer) protocols will be used for mobile network because it is a distributed network architecture composed of participants that make a portion of their resources directly available to other network participants, without the need for a central server. Current research of P2P protocols for mobile network are not activated. The reason is appropriate in the mobile P2P network simulation environment, since it is not provided. So, in this paper we design a mobile P2P simulation system for CDN based on mobile P2P.

  • The P2P is a network environment supporting data exchange which is directly connected peers without limit of existing server-client and intervening central server for resource or offered service with each peer. JXTA is a representative of P2P system. JXTA is a typical distributed computing model that proposed by Sun Microsystems. JXTA that doesn't require centralized services or resources is adaptable in extreme changes of network organization. MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) is a representative wireless network that is composed of mobile nodes without infrastructure. So MANET establishes the path for the communication of each peers and maintains the newest routing information by exchanging routing information. In this paper, we propose a technique of JXTAMAUET which implements JXTA which is the P2P network system from the wireless network which is becoming the foundation of ubiquitous computing. For the performance evaluation of the JXTAMANET, we use simulation.

  • Recent researches of network structure are moving to high-level networks because there are already many research results of low-level network. Especially, current network services has been changed to the multimedia service using multicast routing such as IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) service. And then previous multicast services were provider oriented. So previous multicast structures were organized server/client model. But future multicast services will make user oriented services. Therefore there will be many service providers in the future. At this point, we study P2P network for supporting multi provider. So we research load balancing and contents lookup protocols in P2P network. In this paper, we propose network protocol and system based on super peer P2P for load balancing and efficiently service search. And we considered mobile environment for mobile IPTV.

  • Rapidly emerging P2P(Peer to Peer) applications generate very bursty traffic, which gives a lot of burden to network, and the amount of such traffic is increasing rapidly. Thus it is becoming more important to understand the characteristics of such traffic and reflect it when we design and analyze the network. To do that we measured the traffic in a campus network and present flow statistics and traffic models of the measured traffic, and compare them with those of the web traffic. The results indicate that P2P traffic is much burstier than web traffic and as a result it negatively affects network performance. We modeled P2P traffic using self-similar traffic model to predict packet delay and loss occurred in network which are very important to evaluate network performance. We also predict queue length distribution and loss probability in SSQ(Single Sewer Queue). To assess accuracy of traffic model, we compare the SSQ statistics of traffic models with that of the traffic trace. The results show that self-similar traffic models we use can predict P2P traffic behavior in network precisely. It is expected that the traffic models we derived can be used when we design network capacity and predict network performance and QoS of the P2P applications.
