  • We define the rational lens algebra (equation omitted)(n) as the crossed product by an action of Z on C( $S^{2n+l}$). Assume the fibres are $M_{ k}$/(C). We prove that (equation omitted)(n) $M_{p}$ (C) is not isomorphic to C(Prim((equation omitted)(n))) $M_{kp}$ /(C) if k > 1, and that (equation omitted)(n) $M_{p{\infty}}$ is isomorphic to C(Prim((equation omitted)(n))) $M_{k}$ /(C) $M_{p{\infty}}$ if and only if the set of prime factors of k is a subset of the set of prime factors of p. It is moreover shown that if k > 1 then (equation omitted)(n) is not stably isomorphic to C(Prim(equation omitted)(n))) $M_{k}$ (c).

The Structure Determination of La2/3-xLi3x1/3-2xTiO3 by the Powder Neutron and X-ray Diffraction

  • La/sub 2/3-x/Li/sub 3x/□/sub 1/3-2x/TiO₃ compounds with x=0.13 and 0.12 were prepared by slow cooling (x=0.13) and rapid quenching (x=0.12) into the liquid nitrogen after sintering at 1350℃ for 6 h. Their crystal structure has been determined by Rietveld refinement of both the powder neutron and X-ray diffraction data. From neutron diffraction data, we found that the main phase was not tetragonal (P4/mmm), but trigonal (R3cH). The refinement of neutron diffraction for the slow cooled samples were in a good agreement with a new model; a mixture of trigonal (R3cH, 45.7 wt%), tetragonal (p4/mmm, 37.0 wt%), and Li/sub 0.57/Ti/sub 0.86/O₂(pbnm, 17.2 wt%), but the quenched sample was found not to contain tetragonal (p4/mmm). X-ray diffraction data couldn't be well fitted because of the Poor scattering factor of lithium ions and the similar reflection patterns among trigonal (R3cH), tetragonal (p4/mmm), and cubic (Pm3m). We also knew that one transport bottlenecks is destroyed by one La vacancy in the case of trigonal (R3cH).

Polarization Characteristics of Heat-treated Ni-based Self-flux Alloy Coating in Alkaline Solution (후열처리한 니켈기 자융성 합금 코팅의 알칼리 용액에서의 분극특성)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate polarization characteristics of heat-treated Ni-based self-flux alloy coating in alkaline solution. Ni-based self-flux alloy powder was sprayed to a steel substrate using flame spray process, and heat treatments were performed in a vacuum furnace at $800^{\circ}C$, $900^{\circ}C$, $1000^{\circ}C$ and $1100^{\circ}C$. After heat treatments, corrosion tests were carried out using potentiostat/galvanostat at solution with pH 8 and pH 13. Corrosion potential(Ecorr) and corrosion current density(Icorr) could be analyzed from polarization curve. Anticorrosive effect of heat-treated coating at solution with pH 8 was relatively greater than at solution with pH 13. Heat-treated coating at $1100^{\circ}C$ showed the greatest anti-corrosion characteristics in alkaline solution.

Chemical and Spectroscopic Characterization of Peat Moss and Its Different Humic Fractions (Humin, Humic Acid and Fulvic Acid) (피트모스에서 추출한 휴믹물질(휴믹산, 풀빅산, 휴민)의 화학적 및 분광학적 물질특성 규명)

  • Peat humin(p-Humin), humic acid(p-HA) and fulvic acid(p-FA) were isolated from Canadian Sphagnum peat moss by dissolution in 0.1M NaOH followed by acid precipitation. After purification cycles, they are characterized for their elemental compositions and, acid/base properties. Functionalities and carbon structures of the humic fractions were also characterized using FT-IR and solid state $^{13}C$-NMR spectroscopy. Those results are compared with one another and with soil humic substances from literatures. Main purpose of this study was to present a chemical and spectroscopic characterization data of humic substance from peat moss needed to evaluate its environmental applicability. The relative proportions of the p-Humin, p-HA and p-FA in the peat moss was $76\%,\;18\%,\;and\;3\%$, respectively, based on the total organic matter content ($957{\pm}32\;g/kg$). Elemental composition of p-Humin were found to be $C_{1.00}H_{1.52}O_{0.79}N_{0.01}$ and had higher H/C and (N+O)/C ratio compared to those of p-HA($C_{1.00}H_{1.09}O_{0.51}N_{0.02}$) and p-FA($C_{1.00}H_{1.08}O_{0.65}N_{0.01}$). Based on the analysis of pH titration data, there are two different types of acidic functional groups in the peat moss and its humic fractions and their proton exchange capacities(PEC, meq/g) were in the order p-FA(4.91) >p-HA(4.09) >p-Humin(2.38). IR spectroscopic results showed that the functionalities of the peat moss humic molecules are similar to those of soil humic substances, and carboxylic acid(-COOH) is main function group providing metal binding sites for Cd(II) sorption. Spectral features obtained from $^{13}C$-NMR indicated that peat moss humic molecules have rather lower degree of humification, and that important structural differences exist between p-Humin and soluble humic fractions(p-HA and p-FA).

Novel Compound Heterozygote Mutations of the SLC25A13 Gene in an Infant with Neonatal-onset Type II Citrullinemia Detected by Newborn Mass Screening

  • Citrin deficiency caused by the SLC25A13 gene mutations is associated with both neonatal-onset type II citrullinemia (CTLN2), also known as neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis caused by citrin deficiency and adult-onset CTLN2. Neonatal-onset CTLN2 is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by poor growth, intrahepatic cholestasis, and increased serum citrulline. A 16-days old infant with hyperammonemia was referred for evaluation of increased plasma citrulline diagnosed using tandem mass spectrometry. Blood amino acid analysis showed significant elevation of citrulline. Mild elevation in serum galactose levels had been found. DNA analysis of the SLC25A13 gene in this patient showed two novel compound heterozygous mutations, c.221C>T in exon4 and c.1645C in exon16 (p.[Ser74Phe]+[Gln549X]). We suggest that infants with a high serum citrulline level on a tandem mass screening test are candidates for gene analysis and blood amino acid analysis for neonatal-onset CTLN2.

  • Dinoflagellates were investigated from the coastal waters of Korea. The total 100 thecate dinoflagellates taxa, comprising of 93 species five varieties and two forms were identified, which were attributed to four orders nine families, 13 genera in Korean coastal waters. 22 species, two varieties and two forms were new to Korean waters. Ceratium arcticum, C. longirostrum, C. praelongum, C. tripos var. ponticum, Gonyaulax jollifei, G. pavillardii, Protoperidinium cassum cassum, P. conicum f. asamushi, P. depressum var. parallelum, P. elegans f. granulatum, P. globifera, P. incognitum, P. majus, P. mite, P. obtusum, P. pallidum daedalum, P. parvum, P. perplexum, P. pyriforme pyriforme, P. pyrum, P. sphaeroides, P. subsphericum, P. valgus, P. venustum, Diplopsalopsis orbicularis, Gotoius abei were new record species for Korea.

석회암지대 지하수 및 하천수 ${\delta}13CDIC$값의 변화 요인

  • 2004년 7월부터 2005년 2월까지 8개월 동안 강원도 정선지역 탄산염지대 지하수 및 하천수의 ${\delta}^{13}C$의 조사 결과, 탄산염 지대 지하수의 13C는 $-12.07{\sim}-8.63$ (평균 -10.34 ), 탄사염지대 하천수의 ${\delta}^{13}C$$-10.32{\sim}-6.80$ (평균 -7.944 ) 이었다. 하천수와 지하수 ${\delta}^{13}C$는 수온(T)과 음의 상관관계를 보이고 물의 전기전도도(EC)와 양의 상관관계를 보이며, 여름보다 겨울에 높은 값을 보이는 반면 산화환원 전위(Eh), 용존산소(DO), pH와는 상관관계가 미약함을 보이고 있다. 탄산염지대 지하수 및 하천수의 ${\delta}^{13}C$는 연구지역의 지하수와 하천수가 탄산염암의 용해, 대기 $CO_2$와 용존 $CO_2$의 교환, 유입된 대기 $CO_2$가 물 분자와 반응하여 ${HCO_3}^-$ 이온으로 전환될 때 있는 분별작용의 효과에 의해 주로 영향을 받았으며 수중생물의 신진대사에 의한 변화는 미미한 것으로 나타났다.

  • The structure of Tetrapropionyloxycalix[4]arene(C40H40O8) has been studied by X-ray diffraction method. The crystal is monoclinic a=13.921(3), b=13.552(2), c=19.840(5)Å, β=110.38(2)°, Z=4 T=297K, Dc=1.23gcm-3, F(000)=1376, Systematic absences : hkl none, h0l : h+l=2n, 0k0: k=2n define space group P21/n. The structure was solved by direct method and refined by full-matrix least-squares methods to final R of 0.06 for 2514 observed reflections. The macrocycle exists in partial cone conformation. Three propionyl groups direct toward the exterior of the macrocycle cavity.

The study on isolation of fibrinolytic bacteria from soybean paste (된장으로 부터 fibrin 용해 세균의 분리에 관한 연구)

  • The bacteria which could hydrolyze the fibrin produced through the blood coagulation mechanism in the human body, were isolated from soybean paste. The KDO-13 strain was selected among the isolated bacteria as the best strain for fibrinolytic activity. It was spore forming and Gram positive. $C_{15:0}$ anteiso fatty acid, $C_{15:0}$ iso fatty acid and $C_{15:0}$ anteiso fatty acid were 47.7, 13.5 and 13.6%, respectively as major component among its cellular fatty acid composition. It showed the similarity of 57.7%, compared with standard strain. It was thus identified to be Bacillus atrophaeus according to Bergey's manual of systematic bacteriology and its fatty acid profiles of gas chromatography. The optimum culture temperature and pH were $37^{\circ}$ and 6 for the production of fibrinolytic enzyme by Bacillus atrophaeus KDO-13.

  • $\alpha$-Amylase gene of Bacillus amyloliquetaciens was cloned on plasmid YEp13, S. cerevisiae-E. coli shuttle vector. Hybrid plasmid pTG17, carrying $\alpha$-amylase gene of B. amyloliquefaciens, was transformed to E. coli and the expression of it in yeast was investigated. This plasmid was unstable in E. coli and produced two minor plasmids, pTG17-1 and PTG17-2, which resulted from the segregation of it. Transformant of S. cerevisiae MC16 with pTG17-1 plasmid was not appeared on SD medium because of the Leu2 gene defection. S. cerevisiae could be transformed by the hybrid plasmid, and $\alpha$-amylase activity of the yeast transformant was detected by somogyi-Nelson method and agar diffusion method.
