A fungal strain capable of producing extracellular cellulase was isolated from farmland. It was identified as Aspergillus niger, and named Aspergillus niger KKS. Production of cellulase and xylanase by the A. niger KKS was studied through a shake-flask culture. The effects of culture conditions such as inoculum size, temperature, pH, and medium composition on the cellulase and xylanase production were examined. The optimum temperature and pH for the enzyme production were $30^{\circ}C$ and pH 7.0, respectively. The optimized medium was composed of 2.0% (w/v) rice straw, 0.5% (w/v) proteose peptone, 0.5% (w/v) $KH_2 PO_4$, 0.05% (w/v) yeast extract, 0.01% (w/v) $CoSO_4 \cdot 7H_2O$, and 0.05% (w/v) $CuSO$_4$\cdot 5H_2O$. When the strain was incubated with the optimized medium, it gave the activities of endoglucanase, $\beta$-glucosidase, $\beta$-xylosidase, xylanase were 3.80, 4.20, 4.00, 80.0 (IU/mL), respectively. Filter paper and cotton activities were 0.68 and 0.045 (IU/mL), respectively. The results of this study show that A. niger KKS is a potential organism with a wide spectrum of enzyme activities, such as those of $\beta$-glucosidase, $\beta$-xylosidase, and xylanase.
Effects of sodium bicarbonate (SBC) injection on meat quality and functionality of porcine M. longissimus lumborum were investigated. Fifteen pigs ($100{\pm}5kg$) were randomly selected at a commercial slaughter plant. After slaughtering the loins were dissected from the carcass before chilling at approximately 30 minutes post mortem. The loins were divided into four cuts for sample treatment, and SBC of 0.25 M, 0.40 M and 0.75 M was injected (2% w/w) using a syringe. As SBC injection level was increased, muscle pH increased significantly (p<0.05). SBC injection decreased lightness ($L^*$) values on the surface of muscle. Moreover, with injection of SBC, drip loss %, cooking loss % and shear force were significantly (p<0.05) decreased, whereas WHC and $Na^+$ content were significantly (p<0.05) increased. From panel testing of uncooked pork loin, no significant differences (p>0.05) were found in aroma, off-flavor and drip between injection of SBC at different levels and the control, although color and acceptability were significantly lower (p<0.05) in control pork loin compare with injection of SBC at 0.75 M. In cooked pork loin from the panel test, aroma, flavour, off-flavour and juiciness were found to be similar (p>0.05) on all treatments, but tenderness and acceptability were significantly higher (p<0.05) with injection of SBC at 0.75 M than for control loin. Myofibrillar protein solubility of muscles treated with SBC was significantly (p<0.05) higher than that of the control, although no significant differences (p>0.05) were found in sarcoplasmic protein solubility between the treatments. These results indicated that SBC injection into pre-rigor porcine M. longissimus lumborum could improve ultimate pork quality characteristics such as meat color, water-holding capacity, and could inhibit muscle protein denaturation due to an increase in muscle pH.
We studied degradation effects of hydrophobic substrate such as kerosene and diesel by adding a biosurfactant originated from Pseudomonas aeruginosa F722 and chemical surfactants (Tween 80 and detergent) with aeration. The surface tensions of the biosurfactant, Tween 80 and detergent were 30mN/m, 39mN/m and 31mN/m, respectively. When the concentration of biosurfactant added in C-medium was 0.01 and 0.15%(w/v), the ratios of hydrocarbon degradation were 94.3% and 94.2% respectively. It was 6.2%(w/v) higher than when the concentrations of added biosurfactant were 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2%. The degradation ratios of the chemical surfactants (Tween 80 and detergent) were 94.5% and 93.5% respectively. The effects of the biosurfactant and chemical surfactants were similar on the degradation ratio in mixtures of kerosene and diesel. However, the population of viable p. aeruginosa F722 at the end of the cultivation period was twice as higher in the biosurfactant than that in the chemical surfactant. We also studied the effect of aeration (0.5vvm) on the degradation ratio. The biosurfactant addition experiment was conducted with 0.5vvm air, 35$^{\circ}C$, 150rpm, pH 8.0, 3days, 1.0% (w/v) substrate. When p. aeruginosa F722 and 0.15%(w/v) biosurfactant were added, the degradation ratio of hydrocarbon was 94.8%. Without p. aeruginosa F722, it was 68%. Thus, with aeration, the degradation ratio of hydrocarbon was increased by 26.8%. In addition, the cultivation time was shortened by 1/3. The degradation ratios of hydrocarbon in shaking culture (cultivation time; 3days) and stationary culture (cultivation time; 10days) were 94.8 and 93.7% respectively. Thus, the addition of biosurfactant and aeration enhanced the degradation of hydrocarbon originated kerosene and diesel.
This experiment was conducted to investigate how the lactation regulation such as restricted-lactation and early weaning during the suckling period influences on ovarian functions and change in serum levels of progesterone in primiparous rats. All the rats were raised in the individual cage from a few days before parturition through the suckling period. The normal lactation(NL) groups were controled 8 pups. The restricted-lactation(RL) and weaned(W) groups were subdivided into 5 subgroups as RL0, RL5, RL10, RL15 and RL20 as well as W0, W5, W10, W15, and W20 according to the day of onset of suckling. The number of pups were regulated from 8 to 4 on experimental strating day in RL gropus, and also perfectly weaned on the each on-set day in W groups. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. During the whole suckling period of 25 days the pups in RL group grew significantly(P<005) faster than those in normal-lactation(NL) group. The pups in earlier RL group grew significantly(P<0.05) faster than those in later RL rats, and there was no found any significant difference in body weight of pups between RL20 and NL group. The gestation period and litter size were found to be 21.53$\pm$0.04 days and 13.75$\pm$0.07, respectively. 2. The estrous cycle was not expressed in the NL group through the whole suckling period. An irregular estrous cycle was found around day 20 in RL0 group, and the regular estrous cycles were exhibited continuously from day 10 in the day 0 weaned rats. 3. In the rats of NL group the serum progesterone concentration increased from 33.16$\pm$2.64ng/$m\ell$ on day 0 to 122.5$\pm$53.68 ng/$m\ell$ on day 10, and then decreased slightly to 97.30$\pm$3.21 ng/$m\ell$ on day 20, but then decreased abruptly. However, the serum level of progesterone decreased greatly(P<0.05) in 5 to 10 days following suckling restriction in the rats from which suckling began to be under restriction on day 0 or day 15. In the early weaning group the significant ( (P<0.05) decrease in progesterone concentration was found similarly in 48 hours following weaning in all the rats weaned on day 0 through day 20. It was suggested that lactation stimulation is a very pivotal on the function of ovary.

This paper presents multi-channel transimpedance amplifier(TIA) arrays in short-range LADAR systems for unmanned vehicles, by using a 0.18um CMOS technology. Two $4{\times}4$ channel TIA arrays including a voltage-mode INV-TIA and a current-mode CG-TIA are introduced. First, the INV-TIA consists of a inverter stage with a feedback resistor and a CML output buffer with virtual ground so as to achieve low noise, low power, easy current control for gain and impedance. Second, the CG-TIA utilizes a bias from on-chip bandgap reference and exploits a source-follower for high-frequency peaking, yielding 1.26 times smaller chip area per channel than INV-TIA. Post-layout simulations demonstrate that the INV-TIA achieves 57.5-dB${\Omega}$ transimpedance gain, 340-MHz bandwidth, 3.7-pA/sqrt(Hz) average noise current spectral density, and 2.84mW power dissipation, whereas the CG-TIA obtains 54.5-dB${\Omega}$ transimpedance gain, 360-MHz bandwidth, 9.17-pA/sqrt(Hz) average noise current spectral density, and 4.24mW power dissipation. Yet, the pulse simulations reveal that the CG-TIA array shows better output pulses in the range of 200-500-Mb/s operations.
In order to improve functional properties, enzymatic hydrolysis of FPC (fish protein concentration) was achieved in ultrafiltration membrane reactor (MWCO 5,000). First, insoluble FPC was hydrolyzed by pepsin in batch reactor to decrease the fouling in ultrafiltration membrane reactor, and second hydrolysis was achieved by pronase E in ultrafiltration membrane reactor The optimum operating conditions in batch reactor using pepsin were at temperature 45$^{\circ}C$, pH 2.0 and the ratio of substrate to pepsin, 150 (w/w) After operating for 5hrs under optimum conditions, 89% of total amount of initial FPC was hydrolyzed. The rate constants, $K_{m}$ and V$_{max}$, were 1.25% and 0.89 mg/$m\ell$/min, respectively, and substrate inhibition was occured above 1.5%. The ultrafiltration membrane reactor was operated with recycling rate of 474 $m\ell$/min and transmembrane pressure of 15 psi. The permeate flux was increased by temperature, transmembrane pressure, but the permeate flux was fixed by pH. The optimum ratio of substrate to pronase E was 200(w/w) and the productivity of ultrafiltration membarane reactor was 702 mg/mg -enzyme, that of batch reactor was 51mg/mg-enzyme. Molecular weight distributions tot first and second hydrolysates were from 2,500 Da to 20,000 Da and from 700 Da to 10,000 Da, respectivelyly.
For the production of mycelia of mushroom by submerged culture, the experiment was carried out. mushroom. The optimum culture broth for Ganoderma lucidum NG-L were composed of CMC 0.8%(w/v) and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ 0.2%, with 10%(v/v) of inoculum size and pH 5.5 when the milk whey was used as basal medium. In case of Grifola frondosa ATCC48688, the optimum broth were composed of soluble starch 2%(w/v) and $KNO_3$ 0.l%(w/v), with 8%(v/v) of inoculum size and pH 5.2. Among several plant growth hormones,indole-3-acetic acid and gibberellin $A_3-3-acetate$ stimulated the mycelial growth of Ganoderma lucidum NG-L and Grifola frondosa ATCC 48688 respectively. The culture broth of these mushrooms inhibited the growth of B. subtilis and P. aeruginosa.
We cloned the 4.8 kb BglII fragment containing genes downstream pHENX7 from Pseudomonas sp. strain DJ77. The restriction map of the resultant clone, recombinant plasmid pYCS500, was determined. Sequencing analysis of the 465 bp HindIII-ClaI fragment revealed an open reading frame of 282 bp that was then designated phnM. The deduced polypeptide is 93 amino acid residues long with a $M_r$ of 10,008. The PhnM has 37.3-53.9% identity with plant-type ferredoxin proteins such as NahT, XylT, DmpQ, AtdS, PhlG, PhhQ and TbuW and contains the motif similar to well-conserved functional domains of those proteins.

A planar type PIN photodiode has been fabricated and discussed. We used OMVPE systems to grow the structure of u-InP/u-InP/n-InP. P-n junction was formed by Zn-diffusion method at 50$0^{\circ}C$, for 5 minitues. The device characteristics at 5V were as follows: Dark currents were distributed around 1nA. Capacitance was 1.6pF and responsivity was above 0.85 mA/mW for 1.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ wavelength. Measured cut-off frequency(-3dB) at -5V was 1.1㎓.
values for seven heavy stroms during the period from 1966 to 1976 are derived, using the manual for W.M.O P.M.P analysis of strom precipitation. The hydrometeoroogical and the statistical methods are consisted of the procedure of P.M.P. estimation in this study. It is possible to draw P.M.P curves from the view points of area and strom durations. A comparison has been made between the P.M.P values of Nakding River basin and the results of this paper. For a storm period of 24 hours, the P.M.P value at the maximum station is 762 mm and the moistrue maximization ratio are within the range 1.17 to 1.41 for the seven selected stroms.
