유아의 사회적 능력과 정서지능과의 관계에 대한 연구 (The Relationship between Children's Social Competence and Emotional Intelligence)

  • This study examined the factor structure of social competence and the relationship between social competence and emotional intelligence in preschool children. The subjects were 503 3- to 6-year-old children. Instruments were the Emotional Intelligence Rating Scale for Preschool Children and The Social Competence Scale. The validity and reliability of the factor structures of The Social Competence Scale were confirmed. These factors were initiative, ability, and sociability. The relationship between The Social Competence Scale and the emotional intelligence scale was highly significant (r=.29, p<.001). Three sub-factors of The Social Competence Scale were significantly related to the total emotional intelligence score. Among the six sub-factors of emotional intelligence, 5 were related to the total score of social competence. These were utilization of emotion, empathy, appraisal and expression of self emotion, relationship with teacher, and relationship with peers.

Robust Simple Correspondence Analysis

  • Simple correspondence analysis is a technique for giving a joint display of points representing both the rows and columns of an n$\times$p two-way contigency table. In simple correspondence analysis, the singular value decomposition is the main algebraic tool. But, Choi and Huh(1996) pointed out the singular value decomposition is not robust. Instead, they developed a robust singular value decomposition and provided applications in principal component analysis and biplots. In this article, by using the analogous procedures of Choi and Huh(1996), we derive a robust version of simple correspondence analysis.

Resistant Singular Value Decomposition and Its Statistical Applications

  • The singular value decomposition is one of the most useful methods in the area of matrix computation. It gives dimension reduction which is the centeral idea in many multivariate analyses. But this method is not resistant, i.e., it is very sensitive to small changes in the input data. In this article, we derive the resistant version of singular value decomposition for principal component analysis. And we give its statistical applications to biplot which is similar to principal component analysis in aspects of the dimension reduction of an n x p data matrix. Therefore, we derive the resistant principal component analysis and biplot based on the resistant singular value decomposition. They provide graphical multivariate data analyses relatively little influenced by outlying observations.

회동수원지의 식물플랑크톤군집에 관하여 (On the phytoplankton community in Hoe-dong Reservoir)

  • A study on phytoplankton community was carried out from June, 1992 to May, 1993 at selected stations in Hoedong Reservoir. The phytoplankton are identified as 176 taxa including 5 phylum, 67 genera. The important species in this reservoir were Asterionella formosa, C meneghiniana, Dictyosphaerium plilchellum, Fragilaria crotonensis, Melosira distans, M grantulata, M. granulata var. angustissima, M. granulate var. angntissima f. spirdis, Micractinium pussillum, Microcystis aeruginosa, Pundorina morn, Pediastrum boryanum, P. duplex, Peridinium sp., Scenedesmus quadriauda, Synedra acus, S. rumpens and S. ulna. The causative species of water bloom were identified as Microcystis aeruginsa, Trahellomonas hispida, Ceratium hirwdinella, Peridinium sp., Melosira italica, Staurastrum dorsidentiferum var. onatum in the area. During the study periods standing crcps of phytoplankton were maximum in August, 1992 and minimum in December 1992. The species dominance index and diversity index were ranged 24.7-99.9, 0.001-3.06, respectively.   • Consider a nonlinear transform ${\Phi}(x)$ of x in $\mathbb{R}^p$ to Hilbert space H and assume that the dot product between ${\Phi}(x)$ and ${\Phi}(x^{\prime})$ in H is given by < ${\Phi}(x)$, ${\Phi}(x^{\prime})$ >= K(x, x'). The aim of this paper is to propose a mathematical technique to take screen shots of the multivariate dataset mapped to Hilbert space H, particularly suited to Gaussian kernel $K({\cdot},{\cdot})$, which is defined by $K(x,x^{\prime})={\exp}(-{\sigma}{\parallel}x-x^{\prime}{\parallel}^2)$, ${\sigma}$ > 0. Several numerical examples are given.

Plasmid Stability and Cloned-Gene Expression in Continuous Culture of Recombinant Escherichia Coli Under Derepressed Condition

  • Continuous culture was carried out with a recombinant Escherichia coli W3110/pCR185, which encodes trp-operon enzymes when the temperature is shifted from $37^{circ}C\;t;42^{\circ}C$. Under derepressed condition of $42^{\circ}C$. plasmlid stability and gene expression were analysed as function of the dilution rate. The stability of plasmid increased with the dilution rate, but maximal levels of gene expression (tryptophan concentration) and plasmid DNA content were obtained at the lowest dilution rate, $0.075\;hr^{-1}$. The plasmid instability, observed at low dilution rates, could be explained by the unbalanced biosynthetic state of the recombinant cell harboring a high copy number of plasmid.

  • Cephalexin synthesizing enzyme (${\alpha}$ amino acid ester hydrolase) was partially purified from the culture broth of Acetobacter turbidans ATCC9325 through ammonium sulfate fractionation, DEAE, CM, and Sephacryl S-200 gel filtration. The enzyme has optimum pH 6.0 and temperature, 40$^{\circ}C$ respectively. From the analysis of reaction mixtures by thin layer chromatographic and high performance liquid chromatographic techniques, it was confirmed this enzyme catalyzed simultaneously the following reactions : 1) Synthesis of cephalexin from D-${\alpha}$-phenylglycine methylester (PGM) and 7-amino 3-deacetoxy-cetoxycephalosporanic acid (7-ADCA) 2) Hydrolysis of cephalexin to form 7-ADCA and phenylglycine (PG) 3) Hydrolysis of PGM to form PG and methanol. Base on the above experimental observations, the reaction model of this enzyme was identical with that of the enzyme from Xanthomonas citri.

  • Male germ cell apoptosis has been extensively explored in rodent. In contrast, very little is known about their susceptibility to apoptosis stimuli of developing germ cell stages at the time when germ cell depletion after busulfan treatment occurs. Furthermore, it is still unanswered how spermatogonial stem cells are resistant to busulfan treatment. Spontaneous apoptosis of germ cells was observed in the testis of adult mice and experimentally induced busulfan treated mice increased this apoptosis to such an extent that there was a decrease in the weight of the testis.   • The crystal structure of monoethanolamine hydrochloride is triclinic P1 with two formula units in a cell of dimensions a = $4.42\pm0.02$, b = $7.44\pm0.02$, c = $7.48\pm0.02$, $\alpha$ = $102.4\pm0.3$, $\beta$ = $91.1\pm0.3$, $\gamma$ = $77.2\pm0.3^{\circ}.$ The configuration of monoethanolamine is a gauche form with dihedral angle, $90^{\circ}$. The nitrogen atom forms four hydrogen bonds, three to Cl- ions(3.15, 3.24, $3.28\AA)$ and one to a hydroxyl group of another molecule (N${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$O, $2.90{\AA})$. The oxygen also forms two such bonds, one to a Cl- ion $(3.14\AA)$, one to an amine group of another molecule (O${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$N, $2.90{\AA}).$ Molecules are linked into two-dimensional network by hydrogen bonds.

Characterization of a Novel Lipopolysaccharide Biosurfactant from Klebsiella oxitoca

  • The chemical, physical, and emulsifying properties of BSF-1, which is an extracellular lipopolysaccharide biosurfactant produced by Klebsiella oxytoca strain BSF-1, were studied. BSF-1 was found to be composed mainly of carbohydrate and fatty acids. The average molecular weight was $1,700{\sim}2,000 kDa$. The polysaccharide fraction contained L-rhamnose, D-galactose, D-glucose, and D-glucuronic acid at a molar ratio of 3:1: 1:1. The fatty acid content was 1.1 % (w/w) and consisted mainly of palmitic acid (C16:0), 3-hydroxylauric acid (3-OH-C12:0), and lauric acid (C12:0). In terms of thermal properties, BSF-1 was revealed to have inter- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonds. The hydrodynamic volume (intrinsic viscosity) of BSF-1 was 22.8dL/g. BSF-1 could be maintained as a stable emulsion for 48 h through a low-level reduction in surface tension. The optimal emulsification temperature was $30^{\circ}C$. Emulsification by BSF-1 was efficient at both acidic and neutral pH values.
