질소(窒素)와 인(燐) 시비(施肥)가 Open-Top Chamber 내(內)에서 오존에 노출(露出)시킨 소나무(Pinus densiflora) 묘목(苗木)의 생장(生長), 탄수화물(炭水化物) 농도(濃度)와 광합성(光合成)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Nitrogen and phosphorus Fertilization on the Growth, Carbohydrate Contents and photosynthesis of Pinus densiflora Seedlings Exposed to Ozone in an Open-Top Chamber)

  • 본 연구는 질소와 인의 영양상태에 따라서 오존에 노출시킨 조경수목의 생리적 반응과 오존에 대한 저항성을 이해하기 위하여 실시하였다. 1년생 소나무(Pinus densiflora S. et Z.) 묘목을 인공토양(버미큘라이트와 펄라이트)을 담은 플라스틱 화분에 심고, 6월초부터 변형된 Hoagland 용액을 이용하여 질소와 인을 조절하여 양묘하고, 7월 3일부터 8월 31일까지 open-top chamber(직경 2.5m, 높이 2.0m)내에서 8주간 1일 7시간씩(0.12ppm에서는 3시간씩) 오존농도를 자연상태에 유사하게 조절하여 노출시켰다. 오존대조구는 활성탄을 사용하여 오존농도를 0.02ppm 이하로 유지하였다. 8주 후에 부위별 생장량, 탄수화물 함량, 엽록소 함량, 순광합성속도를 측정하였다. 오존에 노출시킨 어떤 묘목에서도 가시적 피해를 관찰할 수 없었다. 오존대조구에서 질소와 인의 각각 혹은 동시 시비로 총건중량이 22%에서 95%까지 증가하여 시비효과를 확인하였다. 오존처리구에서도 시비효과는 비슷하게 관찰되었다. 오존처리는 오존대조구와 비교하여 건중량을 감소시키지 않았으나, S/R(Shoot/Root)용을 14.5% 증가시켰다. 잎의 설탕함량은 오존처리로 평균 23%가 증가한 반면에, 뿌리의 설탕함량은 질소와 인의 시비와 관계없이 오존처리로 평균 20% 감소하였다. 잎의 전분함량은 시비 혹은 오존에 의하여 크게 영향을 받지 않았으나, 뿌리의 전분함량은 오존처리로 41% 감소하여, 뿌리로 탄수화물의 이동이 감소함으로써 뿌리의 발달이 상대적으로 위축되었음을 입증하였다. 잎의 엽록소 함량은 질소시비에 의하여 70% 증가하였으나, 오존에 의해서 감소하지 않았다. 순광합성속도는 오존대조구에서 질소의 단독시비로 80% 증가하였으며, 인의 경우는 질소가 함께 시비될 때에만 광합성을 증가시켰다. 오존처리구의 순광합성속도는 오존대조구보다 평균 11.7% 적었는데, 특히 질소와 인이 동시에 시비되었을 때 오존대조구보다 22.3% 적었다. 반면 질소와 인이 시비되지 않은 경우에는 오존에 의해서 순광합성속도가 거의 영향을 받지 않았다. 위와 같은 질소와 인과 오존 간의 상호작용에서 다음과 같은 결론을 얻게 된다. 소나무 유묘는 단기간의 0.12ppm 오존 노출에서 가시적 피해를 입지 않았으며, 오존에 의하여 지상부의 생장이 감소하지 않지만 S/R 율은 증가하였다. 그러나 오존처리로 뿌리에서는 전분의 함량이 현저히 감소했을 뿐만 아니라, 순광합성속도도 큰 폭으로 감소하였으므로, 장기적으로 관찰하면 생장량이 감소하리라고 판단한다. 질소와 인의 시비에 의한 생장촉진효과는 오존으로 인하여 감소할 가능성이 있으나, 소나무에 시비하면 광합성을 촉진하고 탄수화물의 재분배를 통해서 오존피해를 복구하기 위한 에너지를 저축함으로써 저항성을 증진시킬 것으로 판단된다.

  • 산소 기체($O_2$)를 전기 방전에 의해 완전히 오존($O_3$)으로 만든 후 $30~150^{\circ}C$범위의 온도에서 열분해 시켰다. 열분해 결과 얻어진 산소 기체를 동위원소 질량분석기로 분석하여 동위원소 분할효과를 측정하였다. 낮은 온도에서는 생성된 산소 기체가 오존에 의해 더 가벼우면서 질량에 의존하는 일반적인 동위원소 분할효과를 보이다가, $110^{\circ}C$ 이상의 실험에서는 산소 기체가 더 무거워지면서 $^{17}O$$^{18}O$$^{16}O$에 비해 같은 양 만큼씩 많아지는 질량과 무관한 분할효과를 나타냈다. 같은 재질(파이렉스)의 반응 관을 이용한 연구들과 그 범위와 경향이 거의 일치하였다. 실험 결과를 이용하여 산소 생성 비율이 일정한 값이 되는 순간의 동위원소 분할 인자들에 대한 값을 최소자승 법을 이용하여 구하였다. 관측된 현상들은 오존의 열분해 메커니즘의 이해와 운석 및 성층권에서의 산소 동위원소의 질량에 무관한 분포에 대한 이해에 중요한 역할을 할 것이다.

토마토 식물에 있어서 광합성이 유존유동성의 에틸렌 생성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Photosynthesis on Ozone-Induced Ethylent Evolution from Tomato Plants)

  • The rate of evolution of ethylent by tomato plants was rapidly increased by ozone fumigation. In the present study, the mechanism of ethylent evolution by ozone was investigated in experiments with aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) and tiron, which inhibit the formation of ethylene and peroxidation of lipids, respectively. Pretreatment with AVG significantly inhibited the ozone-induced ethylent evolution, but the treatment of plants with tiron did not inhibit. These results indicate that the induction of the evolution of ethylene by ozone involves the pathway via aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC), while not released as a result of the peroxidation of lipids. Ozone-induced ethylent evolution was greater in dar- than light-incubated, intact tomato plants. The difference between dark- and light-ethylene evolution was examined with diuron, an inhibitor of photosynthetic electron transport. The inhibitor treatment promoted ethylent evolution. These results suggest that ethylent retention and metabolism in plants were regulated by internal $CO_2$ levels which, in turn, were controlled in large part by photosynthesis. Thus, ethylene was retained in illuminated leaf tissue under low intenal $CO_2$ concentration which may develop in a sealed container without exogenously supplied $CO_2$.

낙동강 상수원수의 오존처리 효과 - II. 회분식 오존처리에 의한 휘발성유기화합물 및 조류제거 효과 - (Effect of Ozone Treatment for Nakdong River Raw Water - II. Removal of VOCs and Algae in Raw Water by Conducting Batch Test of Ozonation Experiments -)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the pollutant removal efficiencies of the advanced drinking water treatment using ozonation process. For raw water, Nakdong River was used. By conducting batch test of ozonation, the following results were obtained. When ozone dosage of $5 mg/{\ell}$ was used, ozone transfer and utilization efficiencies of the ozonation were 94 to 92%, respectively. Removal efficiencies of single VOC compound or mixed VOC compounds in the raw water were 80% to 90% by the ozonation with $2 mg/{\ell}$ dosage and 10 minutes contact time. Removal efficiencies of ABS by the ozonation with $1 mg/{\ell}$, $3 mg/{\ell}$ dosage and 20 minutes contact time were 83% to 96%, respectively. Almost 67% of chlorophyll-a at the concentration of $38.4\mu\textrm{g}/{\ell}$ was removed by ozonation at ozone dosage of $1 mg/{\ell}$ for 20 min. Considering the efficiency of ozone utilization and water treatment, the most effective ozonation could be obtained with high ozone dosage and short contact time.

Effect of nanobubbles (oxygen, ozone) on the Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei), Vibrio parahaemolyticus and water quality under lab conditions

  • This study assessed the effects of oxygen and ozone nanobubbles on gill morphology, weight gain, and mortality of Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei), as well as the level of Vibrio parahaemolyticus and water quality of shrimp culture tanks under lab conditions. Two experiments were carried out with oxygen macrobubble, ozone macrobubble, oxygen nanobubble, ozone nanobubble, and control treatments (air-stone macrobubble). Experiments were done in triplicate in 100 L tanks with 15‰ saline water, and 20 shrimp per tank. Tanks in Experiment 1 were not inoculated with bacteria; tanks in Experiment 2 were inoculated with V. parahaemolyticus at a concentration of 106 CFU/mL. The results revealed that short treatments with ozone nanobubbles had minimal impact on shrimp gills, mortality, and growth rates, reduced V. parahaemolyticus concentration in water compared to the other groups, and improve water quality. These laboratory results indicate that ozone nanobubble treatment may be useful for controlling V. parahaemolyticus. More work is needed to find the best protocol to apply the technology on a commercial scale.

미세먼지와 오존노출에 의한 노인의 의료 이용 영향에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Influence on Medical Care for the Elderly by Exposure to Fine Particulate Matter and Ozone)

  • Objectives: The effects of particulate matter and ozone on health are being reported in a number of studies. These effects are likely to be stronger on the elderly population, but studies in this regard are scarce. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of particulate matter ${\leq}2.5{\mu}m$ and ozone on the acute health status of the elderly population. Methods: In order to analyze the health status of the elderly population, the NHIS-Senior Cohort data was used. In this study of people 60 years or older in Seoul, the number of outpatient visits and ER visits between 2002 and 2013 were calculated. Each disorder and the lag effect were analyzed separately. Particulate matter and ozone were analyzed using both the single exposure model and the adjusted multi-exposure model. Results: In the single exposure analysis with PM2.5 as the exposure variable, with each increase of $10{\mu}g/m^3$, the number of outpatient visits increased by 1.0081 times, vascular disease 1.0065 times, chronic pulmonary disease 1.0086 times, and diabetes 1.0055 times. In the multi-exposure model adjusting for ozone, the number of outpatient visits increased by 1.0066 times. There was a one-day lag effect and 1.0066 times increase between PM2.5 and ER visits in the multi-exposure model and 1.0057 times when adjusted for ozone (p value <0.10). There was a one-day lag effect in all multi-exposure models with ozone as the main variable, and when the particulate matter was adjusted, there was a one-day delay and 1.0143 times increase in ER visits. Conclusions: In our study, an increase in the number of outpatient and ER visits in the elderly population in accordance with the increase in PM2.5 and ozone was found. The association found in our study could also produce a socioeconomic burden. Future studies need to be performed in regards to younger populations and other air pollutants.

고분자재료의 물성에 미치는 환경인자의 영향: 오일 및 오존반응시간 (Effect of Environmental Factors on the Properties of Polymeric Material : Oil and Ozone Reaction Time)

  • The purpose of this experiment is to prepare ethylene propylene diene terpolymer(EPDM)/ acrylonitrile butadiene rubber(NBR) blend which represents good environmental resistant properties including favorable oil and ozone resistance. With incorporation of EPDM, NBR and other ingredients, the rubber and chemical additives were mixed by mechanical method such as Banbury mixer and open 2-roll mill. Then rubber vulcanizates were manufactured by hot press and mechanical properties, oil and ozone resistance of the test specimens were measured. The oil resistance and ozone resistance of EPDM and NBR, respectively, is remarkably improved by blending EPDM with NBR. The optimum results of oil and zone resistant characteristics were obtained at EPDM/NBR(=25/75 wt%) composition ratio.

라이다 시스템을 이용한 하층 대류권 오존농도 측정 (Ozone Monitoring in the Lower Tropospheric Atmosphere by LIDAR System)

  • We have developed a Differential Absortion LIDAR (DIAL) method for the measurement of lower tropospheric ozone concentration. We used two laser beams from quadrupled Nd:YAG (266 nm) for the resonance wavelength and dye lasers (299.5 nm) for non -resonance wavelength. Aerosol extinction coefficients in the lower troposphere was computed by both Klett and Slope methods. To correct the SIN (Signal -Induced Noise) effect caused by photo detector, we subtracted a new-fitted baseline on the background part of a LIDAR signal, after the subtraction of the DC level. This is because SIN can be treated as an exponentially decaying tail. Using theme results, ozone profiles were obtained approximately 2km at daytime and 3km at nighttime. We compared the results derided by the Slope method with those measured by UV spectrometer. The computed results are in mostly good agreement with experimental results. In the measurement of the vertical layer, we observed the variation of the ozone profiles around the top mixed layer.

  • With the help of mechanical mixing method such as Banbury mixer and open 2 roll mill, ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM) was blended with the chloroprene rubber (CR) then mechanical properties and ozone resistance test of blends were subsequently investigated. It was noted that the hardness increased with an increasing of CR contents. Generally the hardness was increased with heat aging time most likely due to the post cure. In ozone resistance test of blend, after 8 hours a portion of fine crack is obtained for pure CR. It is confirmed that ozone resistance is greatly improved by addition of 25wt% EPDM to CR.

  • The effects of UV and ozone on the weathershed materials for 5 polymer insulators were investigated. This study was carried by material characterizations such as surface microstructure, thermal property, chemical structure and contact angle. The aged specimens are compared with new ones. In case of UV, the chalking of fillers and cracking of surface were increased with the increase of UV radiation time. In case of ozone, aged specimens are not different from new ones. From this study, It can be concluded that UV has more effect on the surface properties of weathershed materials than ozone.
