Nitrox 공기통의 기체 분석에 의한 스쿠버다이버 사망원인 추정에 관한 사례연구 (Case on the Death of Scuba Diver by Analyzing the Air in Nitrox Cylinder)

  • Going underwater is supposed to begin with the history of human beings. At first it was confined to relatively shallow level, less than several meters by holding breath. Recently, deep level diving has been necessary for such purpose as construction, maritime salvage, military operations, research and sports by using SCUBA(self-contained underwater breathing apparatus) equipment. As one goes down into water, the pressure on the diver is increased due to water pressure with depth, usually 1 atm for each 10 m water level. In deep water, mixed gas or nitrox(EAN, enriched air nitrox) could be applied for the divers lest they should get disease due to high pressure. Of these, the former is usually composed of oxygen and inert gas like helium or hydrogen, the latter contains higher oxygen content than that in normal air in which the oxygen concentration is designated by the character "EAN" followed by vol. % of oxygen, for example, "EAN 40" contains 40% of oxygen. In this case, a victim was found at the 39 m below the sea surface breathing air and nitrox in cylinder wrongly marked as EAN 36, which was analyzed to contain 63% of oxygen by GC/TCD. The cause of death could not be exactly related with the oxygen content in the nitrox cylinder, because the accurate depth for the victim to dive was not known, even though the victim was just found at the depth of 39 m. However, the wrongly marked nitrox could be believed to be the main cause of the death at the depth unless there happened any other accident except that during diving.

CA저장을 위한 폴리이미드 막 시스템의 질소-산소 분리특성 (Nitrogen-Oxygen Separation Characteristics by Polyimide Membrane System for Controlled Atmosphere Storage)

  • 폴리이미드 고분자막을 사용한 질소부하 장치를 설계하고, 이를 CA 저장에 활용하기 위한 기술적 기본 데이터를 제시하였다. 순수 산소 및 질소의 투과특성은 dual-mode sorption 모델로서 설명될 수 있었으며, 공기 중의 산소의 투과율은 공기 중에 존재하는 질소의 영향으로 순수 산소의 투과율에 비해 크게 감소하나, 공기 중의 질소의 투과율은 산소의 영향으로 순수 질소의 투과율에 비해 증가하였다. 수행한 압력 및 온도 범위 내에서 이상분리인자는 5에서 6 사이의 값을 나타내었으며, 공기의 분리인자는 이상분리인자보다 작은 값을 나타내었다. 산소의 투과활성화에너지가 질소의 투과 활성화에너지보다 커서 이상분리인자는 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 제품회수율이 증가함에 따라 농축부의 질소농도는 급격히 감소하였으며, 이로부터 제품회수율은 CA 저장고에서 요구되는 질소농도를 얻기 위한 주요 조업인자임을 알 수 있었다. Polyimide 막 시스템을 이용한 CA 저장 공정의 가상적인 모형을 설정하고, 시스템의 조업시간에 따른 저장고의 질소농도를 예측할 수 있는 관계식을 제시하였다.

Characteristics of SrCo1-xFexO3-δ Perovskite Powders with Improved O2/CO2 Production Performance for Oxyfuel Combustion

  • Perovskite-type oxides are promising oxygen carriers in producing oxygen-enriched $CO_2$ gas stream for oxyfuel combustion. In this study, a new series of $SrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO_{3-{\delta}}$ (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) was prepared and used to produce $O_2/CO_2$ mixture gas. The phase, crystal structure, and morphological properties of $SrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO_{3-{\delta}}$ were investigated through X-ray diffraction, specific surface area measurements, and environmental scanning electron microscopy. The oxygen desorption performance of $SrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO_{3-{\delta}}$ was studied in a fixed-bed reactor system. Results showed that the different x values of $SrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO_{3-{\delta}}$ have no obvious effects on crystalline structure. However, the oxygen desorption performance of $SrCo_{1-x}Fe_xO_{3-{\delta}}$ is improved by Co doping. Moreover, $SrCo_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_{3-{\delta}}$ synthesized via a new EDTA method has a larger BET surface area ($40.396m^2/g$), smaller particle size (48.3 nm), and better oxygen production performance compared with that synthesized through a liquid citrate method.

$O_2/CO_2$ 혼합조건에 따른 LNG 연소특성해석 (Characteristic Study of LNG Combustion in the mixture of $O_2/CO_2$)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기존의 산업용 보일러에서 이산화탄소 배출저감을 위하여 연소가스 재순환에 의한 고온 순산소 연소기술을 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위해 실험실 규모의 LNG 연소기에서 연소 화염특성을 평가하기 위한 조직적인 수치해석 연구가 일차적으로 수행되었다. 특히 본 연구에서 고려한 중요한 변수는 산소부화환경에서 계산된 연소가스의 재순환 정도이다. 배기가스 재순환이 없는 100% 순산소 연소환경에서 화염은 고온의 길고 가는 층류형상의 화염을 보였다. 이는 산화제 중에서 질소성분이 감소함으로써 약화된 난류혼합효과와 $N_2$ 가스에 의한 현열손실의 감소에 기인하는 것으로 판단하였으며 문헌에 발표된 실험과 일치된 결과를 보였다. $O_2/CO_2$ 혼합가스에서 $CO_2$ 가스의 재순환율이 증가될수록 산화제의 유량 증가에 따른 강화된 난류혼합으로 인해 최고 화염온도가 버너 근처로 이동한 반면 전반적인 연소가스 온도는 $N_2$에 비해 $CO_2$의 높은 비열로 인해 낮아지는 현상을 보였다. 결국 80% 이상 $CO_2$ 가스를 재순환한 경우 연소가스의 온도가 급격하게 떨어지는 화염소멸 현상을 보여주었다. 그러나 30% $O_2/70%$ $CO_2$의 혼합 연소조건에서는 기존의 공기연소와 유사한 가스온도를 나타내었다. 이외에도 공기연소와 동일한 유량조건에서 난류강도와 열수지 측면에서 화염특성 변화를 평가하기 위한 면밀한 연구가 수행되었다.

  • This research was carried on an 8100cc turbo-charged heavy duty diesel in the application of a cooled-EGR. Exhaust and intake manifold were modified and an electronically controlled EGR was installed in order to investigate engine performance and exhausted emission characteristics. High pressure route was designed in the compact form on the purpose of practicability in this cooled-EGR system, which constitutes a venturi tube to maintain pressure difference between exhaust manifold and compressor, an EGR cooler, an EGR valve and a solenoid valve.

Effect of Ammonium Concentration on the Emission of $N_2O$ Under Oxygen-Limited Autotrophic Wastewater Nitrification

  • A significant amount of nitrous oxide ($N_2O$), which is one of the serious greenhouse gases, is emitted from nitrification and denitrification of wastewater. Batch wastewater nitrifications with enriched nitrifiers were carried out under oxygen-limited condition with synthetic (without organic carbon) and real wastewater (with organic carbon) in order to find out the effect of ammonium concentration on $N_2O$ emission. Cumulated $N_2O$-N emission reached 3.0, 5.7, 6.2, and 13.5 mg from 0.4 l of the synthetic wastewater with 50, 100, 200, and 500 mg/l ${NH_4}^+$-N, respectively, and 1.0 mg from the real wastewater with 125 mg/l ${NH_4}^+$-N. The results indicate that $N_2O$ emission increased with ammonium concentration and the load. The ammonium removal rate and nitrite concentration also increased $N_2O$ emission. Comparative analysis of $N_2O$ emission from synthetic and real wastewaters revealed that wastewater nitrification under oxygen-limited condition emitted more $N_2O$ than that of heterotrophic denitrification. Summarizing the results, it can be concluded that denitrification by autotrophic nitrifiers contributes significantly to the $N_2O$ emission from wastewater nitrification.

  • In the present paper we studied experimentally fundamental optimization of oxygen enriched pyrolysis melting incinerator, Characteristics of this system was confirmed dealing with the gas flow and combustion properties for the inside secondary air injection. The experiment setup has a disposal rate of 30kg/hr which was measured by the inside temperature and gas. Along with above experiments, the three-dimensional computation was employed to analyse the combustion fluid dynamics and gas residence time. Equations for turbulence and heat - transmission as well as chemical reactions were solved by using common codes. The experimental combustion chamber was composed of staged combustion types structure for reducing NOx. Finally, it was verified that the control of the secondary air and air ratio of thermo stack were important. In the computational analysis, it showed reasonable agreement with the experimental results regarding the temperature and discharged gas concentration.

지하자원개발을 위한 오일샌드플랜트의 DCSG 증기생산효율 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of DCSG Steam Efficiency of Oil Sand Plants for Underground Resources Development)

  • Steam assisted gravity drainage(SAGD) is a process that drills well in the underground oil sands layer, injects hightemperature steam, lowers the viscosity of buried bitumen, and recovers it to the ground. Recently, direct contact steam generator(DCSG) is being developed to maximize steam efficiency for SAGD process. The DCSG requires high technology to achieve pressurized combustion and steam generation in accordance with underground pressurized conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a combustion technology that can control the heat load and exhaust gas composition. In this study, process analysis of high-pressurized DCSG was conducted to apply oxygen enrichment technology in which nitrogen of the air was partially removed for increasing steam production and reducing fuel consumption. As the process analysis conditions, methane as the fuel and normal air or oxygen enriched air as the oxidizing agent were applied to high-pressurized DCSG process model. A simple combustion reaction program was used to calculate the property variations for combustion temperature, steam ratio and residual heat in exhaust gas. As a major results, the steam production efficiency of DCSG using the pure oxygen was about 6% higher than that of the normal air due to the reducing nitrogen in the air. The results of this study will be used as operating data to test the demonstration device.

넙치 자어 사육에 있어서 먹이 종류에 따라 고밀도로 배양한 rotifer의 먹이효율 (Dietary value of rotifer fed on the different diets in high density culture for flounder larvae, Paralichthys olivaceus)

  • 본 연구는 먹이종류에 따라 고밀도로 배양한 rotifer를 넙치 자어에게 공급하였을 때 이들의 먹이효율을 조사하였다. Rotifer 고밀도 배양의 실험구 먹이는 18 시간 동안 담수산 Chlorella를 공급한 후 6시간 유지효모 및 $Marine\;{\alpha}$를 공급한 것과 24시간 동안 담수산 농축 Chlorella 및 해수산 농축 Chlorella를 공급한 것으로 하였다. 배양수조는 $2l$를 이용하였고 수온 $28{\circ}C$를 유지하였다. $Marine {\alpha}$와 해수산 농축 Chlorella를 공급한 실험구의 n-3 HUFA 함량이 유지효모와 담수산 농축 Chlorella를 공급한 실험구보다 높게 나타났다. 따라서 $Marine\;{\alpha}$와 해수산 농축 Chlorella를 공급한 실험구가 유지효모와 담수산 농축 Chlorella를 공급한 실험구보다 넙치 자어의 성장과 생존률이 높게 나타났다. 또한 $Marine\;{\alpha}$로 배양된 rotifer를 섭취한 넙치 자어 자체의 지방산 중 n-3 HUFA비율이 다른 먹이보다 높게 나타났지만 안정적 배양은 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 본 실험을 통해서 rotifer 고밀도 배양시 안정적인 rotifer 성장과 rotifer의 질적 개선을 위해서는 24시간 해수산 농축 Chlorella를 공급하는 것이 효율적이며 이들을 넙치 자어에게 공급하였을 때 가장 적절한 먹이일 것으로 판단된다.

Abundance Anomalies and Star Formation History of merging BCDs

  • We present elemental abundances of 95 blue compact dwarf galaxies (BCDs) at z=0.2~0.35 using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) DR7. We derived element abundances using Te method. We found that nitrogen abundance of merging BCDs are more enriched than normal BCDs by fast rotating young massive star. On the other hand, neon and oxygen abundances for merging BCDs are slightly lower than the normal BCDs. This might be result from the dilution by metal-poor gas infall during the interaction. This means that merging BCDs undergone star formation event for a long time than normal BCDs and we trying to explain using STARLIGHT code and various star formation rates (SFRs) ratios. At a result, merging BCDs have older stellar population (>10 Myr) more than normal BCDs and have clear distinction in elements abundances versus Ha/UV diagram. We also discuss the characteristics of post merger candidate using FUV to NUV ratios.
