액정 표시기의 구동효율 개선을 위한 중첩구동방식에 관한 연구 (A study on the overlap scanning method for the driving efficiency improvement of LC Displays)

  • In this paper a Duty Effective Overlap Scanning method (DEOS) for the improvement of driving efficiency of LC displays which have the RMS voltage responding characteristics is proposed and new processing method of data signals for optimum application of this method is also proposed. Proposed method has a few advantages such as the increment of duty ratio the increment of driving power loaded on LC cell and the decrement of RMS voltage error rate caused by signal attenuation on electrodes composing of display when compared with the conventional method which is called as optimum voltage amplitude selection method. And also by adopting new data signal processing method which has 3 kinds of voltage levels additional advantage much improving crosstalk phenomenon which is the most serious problems of simple matrix structured display is obtained. For the characteristic estimation new mathematical representation for new overlap scanning method and data signal processing method are induced and defined. And by the defined formula and simulation the characteristics of the proposed method and the conventional method are compared and analyzed. As a result of estimation this new method being able to optimize the overlap rate of scan signal and using 3 levels of data signals has the characteristic which can improve the driving efficiency of LC displays.

감쇄(damping) 하모닉 크기 파라미터를 이용한 음성의 중첩합산 정현파 합성 방법 (Overlap and Add Sinusoidal Synthesis Method of Speech Signal Lising the Damping Harmonic Magnitude Parameter)

  • 본 논문에서는 음성신호의 정현파 합성방법 중 하나인 선형위상을 사용한 중첩합산방법에 대하여 감쇄(Damping) 하모닉 크기 파라미터를 사용하여 합성음성의 연속성을 개선시킨 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 중첩합산 정현파 합성방법은 프레임의 중간 지점에 대한 정현파 파라미터를 얻기 위해서 가중치로 사용된 정현파 크기값을 과거 프레임과 현재 프레임의 평균값을 사용하였으나 제안하는 방법은 정현파 크기값을 단순히 과거와 현재 프레임에서 평균값이 아닌 원 신호와 합성신호 사이의 상관성을 이용하여 감쇄(Damping)요소를 정의하고 보다 정확한 정현파 크기의 파라미터 값을 추출한 후 합성한다. 이렇게 제안한 합성 방법의 성능을 관찰하기 위해 합성방법의 연속성 평가를 통해 기존의 방법과 비교 평가한다. 제안한 방법의 평균 MSE값이 N/2 중첩길이에서 0.251dB, N/4 중첩길이에서 0.298dB 낮아짐을 볼 수 있다.

  • UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle)은 적은 비용으로 고해상도 정사영상과 DSM(digital surface model)을 빠르게 생성할 수 있다. 그러나, UAV에 의하여 획득된 정사영상과 DSM의 수직 및 수평위치 정확도는 영상처리 기술, 항공사진의 품질, GCPs(ground control points)의 개수와 위치, 촬영경로 상의 중복도에 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서는, 정사영상과 DSM의 생성에 있어 중복도와 GCP의 개수가 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 위치정확도는 9쌍의 자료를 이용한 RMSE(root mean square error)을 기반으로 평가하였다. 실험결과, GCP의 개수와 중복도는 수평위치 및 수직위치 정확도에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다.

  • GPS Navigation Solutions are used for operational orbit determination for the KOMPSAT-1 spacecraft. GPS point position data are definitely affected by systematic errors as well as noise. Indeed, the systematic error effects tend to be longer term since the GPS spacecrafts have periods of 12 hours. And then, the overlap method of determining orbit accuracy is always optimistic because of the presence of systematic errors with longer term effects. In this paper, we investigated the measurement noise and the system error for the KOMPSAT-l GPS Navigation Solutions. To assess orbit accuracy with this type of data, we use longer data arcs such as 5-7 days instead of 30 hour data arc. For this assessment, we should require much more attention to drag and solar radiation drag parameters or even general acceleration parameters in order to assess orbit accuracy with longer data arcs. Thus, the effects of the consideration of the drag, solar radiation drag, and general acceleration parameters were also investigated.

배관설치도 내 생산정보 증강을 위한 겹침 회피 알고리즘의 적용 (An Application of Overlap Avoidance to Augment the Production Data in Pipe Installation Drawings)

  • A lot of drawings for pipe construction and installation are needed to construct plant process system on the offshore plant structures. Depending on their scale or complexity, the required number of drawings related pipes sometimes amounts to several hundreds of thousands. Most major shipyards, therefore, have their own system which can automatically depict pipes’ geometric, manufacturing, and BOM(Bill of Material) information on the drawings. However, as the complexity and absolute quantity in the isometric region on the drawings is increased, the information extraction from the customized DB and positioning at the typical locations does not get to be enough to avoid the overlap between geometric contours, labels, and symbols. For this reason, the novel methods to arrange additional annotations without overlaps are presented in the paper. This approach is expected to increase the readability and legibility of the drawing and prevent the human error, and finally decrease the time-consuming and tedious jobs which are unnecessarily required to designers.

Numerical simulation of propeller exciting force induced by milling-shape ice

  • On the basis of the Computational Fluid Dynamics technique (CFD) combined with the overlap grid method, this paper establishes a numerical simulation method to study the problem of ice-propeller interaction in viscous flow and carries out a simulation forecast of the hydrodynamic performance of an ice-class propeller and flow characteristics when in the proximity of milling-shape ice (i.e., an ice block with a groove cut by a high-speed revolving propeller). We use a trimmed mesh in the entire calculation domain and use the overlap grid method to transfer information between the domains of propeller rotation calculation and ice-surface computing. The grid is refined in the narrow gap between the ice and propeller to ensure the accuracy of the flow field. Comparison with the results of the experiment reveals that the error of the hydrodynamic performance is within 5%. This confirms the feasibility of the calculation method. In this paper, we calculate the exciting force of the propeller, analyze the time domain of the exciting force, and obtain the curve of the frequency domain using a Fourier transform of the time-domain curve of the exciting force. The existence of milling-shape ice before the propeller can greatly disturb the wake flow field. Unlike in open water, the propeller bearing capacity shows a downward trend in three stages, and fluctuating pressure is more disordered near the ice.

  • A variable air-gap type system is widely used for inductive precision position measurement systems. This type transducer has high sensitivity but lacks a linear measurement range due to structural nonlinearity. Furthermore, as measurement range increases, linearity error is also increased. The alternative is a variable overlap-area type system. The sensitivity of this type is determined by the initial air-gap dimension, keeps the original value and does not deteriorate linearity in spite of the variations of the measuring range.

  • For the last twenty years fragment assembly in DNA sequencing followed the "overlap - layout - consensus"paradigm that is used in all currently available assembly tools. Although this approach proved to be useful in assembling clones, it faces difficulties in genomic shotgun assembly: the existing algorithms make assembly errors and are often unable to resolve repeats even in prokaryotic genomes. Biologists are well-aware of these errors and are forced to carry additional experiments to verify the assembled contigs. We abandon the classical “overlap - layout - consensus”approach in favor of a new Eulerian Superpath approach that, for the first time, resolves the problem of repeats in fragment assembly. Our main result is the reduction of the fragment assembly to a variation of the classical Eulerian path problem. This reduction opens new possibilities for repeat resolution and allows one to generate error-free solutions of the large-scale fragment assemble problems. The major improvement of EULER over other algorithms is that it resolves all repeats except long perfect repeats that are theoretically impossible to resolve without additional experiments.

  • In case of outputting the image with color printer, image is occurred color distortion by characteristics of paper, effect by overlap between neighbor dots and the mechanical characteristics if printer. Color calibration is needed to reduce this color distrotion. To color calibration, we select the color sample in printer color gamut. The accuracy of color calibration is determined by the number of sample, distribution, and calibration method. Generally, color space is selected the color sample dividing equal interval. In this case, the range of gamut of printed color patches is reduced due to the effect of inks overlap. Therefore, error is occurred when color transformation relatively. In this paper, we have the color sampling based on equi-visual perception and then reproduce the color using the Neural-Network and interpolation by LUT.

Interval Estimation of the Difference of two Population Proportions using Pooled Estimator

  • In order to examine whether the difference between two point estimates of population proportions is statistically significant, data analysts use two techniques. The first is to explore the overlap between two associated confidence intervals. Second method is to test the significance which is introduced at most statistical textbooks under the common assumptions of consistency, asymptotic normality, and asymptotic independence of the estimates. Under the null hypothesis which is two population proportions are equal, the pooled estimator of population proportion is preferred as a point estimator since two independent random samples are considered to be collected from one population. Hence as an alternative method, we could obtain another confidence interval of the difference of the population proportions with using the pooled estimate. We conclude that, among three methods, the overlapped method is under-estimated, and the difference of the population proportions method is over-estimated on the basis of the proposed method.
