As the accidents of cargo and passenger carrying ships occur, the stress faced by the vessel users is increasing. The risk factors for accident deterioration in remote marine area are stronger than those in road accidents, and therefore the need for safety control is greatly emphasized. To overcome such issue, a lot of effort has been made in terms of conducting research and development of the passengers and freights location tracking system. However, the inner bulkhead structures are made of aluminum/steel which is a difficult material to transfer location information through. This study aims to measure the receiving rate of LoRaWAN signal inside the aluminum/steel bulkhead structures with variation in reception strength and distance. The test was taken place at platforms with 6T and 8T enclosures to reflect the same conditions found in fishery patrol boats. The receiving rate of through-the-wall communication at 10M distance turned out to be 86% in case of using two 6T enclosures, and 73% in case of using one 8T enclosure. The result showed that the receiving rate was more affected by the thickness rather than the number of enclosures.
Biological samples can be fixed either by chemical method by using chemical solution or physical methods by using heat treatment. The problem in traditional heat fixation is unsatisfactory quality due to uneven heat conduction in specimen and loss of inner cell contents. Chemical fixation method also bears several intrinsic problems like the limit in specimen size, time consumption in fixative impregnation, and loss of low molecular weight cell components. These factors deteriorate the quality of fixed specimen, thus limit the magnification and contrast of tissue pictures. Microwave heat has been reported to be a good alternative to current chemical methods to overcome these problem. In this study, we tried to introduce the microwave energy method to routine fixation work in hospital. We replaced chemical fixative with saline to provide moderate reaction condition, and used frozen section to reduce time for sample preparation. Temperature was measured at each experiment. The fixation of rat kidney tissue with 2.45 GHz electromagnetic wave and saline showed similar result to the control group fixed with traditional chemical method. Human tumor tissue fixed with 2.45 GHz electromagnetic in frozen section was improved in terms of histochemistry of PAS and immunohistochemistry of tumor marker like cytokeratin. Total turnaround time was reduced from $24\sim38$ h to to $2\sim4$ h. In conclusion, the quality of samples prepared by microwave heating method was at least as good as that of traditional method. If the condition for the fixation of different specimens is standardized, this new method could be applied to routine work in hospital, and could save working time as well.
Cavitating flow is usually formed on the surface of a high speed underwater object. When a object moves near a free surface at very high speed, the cavity signature becomes one of the major factors to be overcome by sensors of military satellite. The present work was to study the free surface effect on the ventilated cavitation. The governing equations were Navier-Stokes equations based on a homogeneous mixture model. The multiphase flow solver used an implicit preconditioning method in the curvilinear coordinate system. The cavitation model used here was the one first presented by Merkle et al.(2006) and redeveloped by Park & Ha(2009). Computations considered the free surface effects were carried out with a NACA0012 hydrofoil and the corresponding results were compared with the experimental data to have a good agreement. Calculations were then performed considering the ventilated cavitation, including the effect of non-condensable gas under the free surface effects.

This thesis proposes a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller for a multi axis servo system. The overall control system consists of three elements: the axial position controller, the speed controller, and a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller. In conventional multi axis servo system, the motion of each axis is controlled independently without regard to the motion of other axes, in which the contour error, defined as the shortest distance between the desired and actual contours is compensated only by the position error of each axis. This decoupled control approach may result in degraded contouring performance due to such factors as mismatch of axial dynamics and axial loop gains. In practice, such systems contain many uncertainties, Therefore, the multi axis servo system must receive and evaluate the motion of all axes for a better contouring accuracy. Cross coupled controller utilizes all axis position error information simultaneously to produce accurate contours. However the existing cross coupled controllers cannot overcome friction, backlash and parameter variation. Also, since it is difficult to obtain an accurate mathematical model of multi axis system, here we investigate a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller method. Some simulations and experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

Among the various human growth factors, epidermal growth factor (hEGF, consisting of 53 amino acids) has various effects on cell regeneration, stimulation of proliferation, migration of keratinocytes, formation of granulation tissues, and stimulation of fibroblast motility, which are important for wound healing. Owing to their multiple activities, EGFs are used as pharmaceutical and cosmetic agents. However, their low productivity, limited target specificity, and short half-life inhibit their application as therapeutic agents. To overcome these obstacles, we fused the collagen-binding domain (CBD) of Vibrio mimicus metalloprotease to EGF protein. About 18 or 12 amino acids (aa) (of the 33 total amino acids), which were essential for collagen-binding activity, were combined with the N- and C-termini of EGF. We constructed, expressed, and purified EGF (53 aa)-CBD (18 aa), EGF (53 aa)-CBD (12 aa), CBD (18 aa)-EGF (53 aa), and CBD (12 aa)-EGF (53 aa). These purified recombinant proteins increased the numbers of cells in treated specimens compared with non-treated specimens and control hEGF samples. The collagen-binding activities were also evaluated. Furthermore, CBD-hybridized hEGF induced phosphorylation of the EGF receptor. These results suggested that these fusion proteins could be applicable as small therapeutic agents in wound tissue healing.

Education is widely recognized one of main sources for growth. This paper attempts to incorporate the general recognition into formal regional growth model. The model structure is largely neoclassical. It produces a single good with the two factors, educated labor and non-educated labor, via a constant return production migrating to the region with the higher real wage. The educated labor in a region is accumulated by two sources, migration and physical education capital, while the non-educated labor is by only migration. The paper shows that regional growth equilibrium is characterized as a saddle point. This indicates the presence of the minimum threshold size that must be overcome before a region may grow. It contrasts sharply with results obtained in regional growth models. The paper suggests that regional growth is determined less by the technical characteristics of regional production function characteristics of regional production function but by the stock combination of educated function but by the stock combination of education labor and non-educated labor. Based on this result, the impact of agglomeration economies on regional growth is explored. It is by phase diagram demonstrated that the presence of agglomeration economies do not always lead a region to growth since there still exists the minimum threshold even in the presence of agglomeration economies.

The welding deformation of a hull structure in the shipbuilding industry is Inevitable at each assembly stage. The geometric inaccuracy caused by the welding deformation tends to preclude the introduction of automation and mechanization and needs the additional man-hours for the adjusting work at the following assembly stage. To overcome this problem, a distortion control method should be applied. For this purpose, it is necessary to develop an accurateprediction method which can explicitly account for the influence of various factors on the welding deformation. The validity of the prediction method must be also clarified through experiments. This paper is aimed at deriving the simple prediction model for fillet welding deformations. For this purpose, the thermal elasto-plastic analysis varying the welding conditions and plate thickness has been performed. On the basis of numerical results, the formulae for angular distortion and transverse shrinkage have been derived through the regression analysis. Experimental work has been also carried out to clarify the validity of numerical results. It has been found that the numerical results show a good agreement with those of experiments
In countries and regions population plays an important role. Recently the importance of population migration increased as population growth slowed. Researches on population migration are mainly focused on the analysis of the population movement factors and the regional structure analysis using the network analysis method. Analysis of regional structure through population movement is not enough to explain the phenomenon of migration of small cities and rural regions. In this study, to overcome the limit of previous studies the characteristics of the population movement rate according to the size of the population were analyzed. Also network analysis using the population movement OD (Origin and Destination) and population movement rate OD were conducted and the results of them were compared. As the results of analysis by the regional population scale, the population movement by population size showed a big difference in the areas with more than 100 thousand people and less than 100 thousand people. Migration to the outside of the province was the most frequent in regions with 30,000~50,000 people. The population migration rate network analysis result showed that the new area with large population inflow capacity was identified, which could not be found in the population movement network analysis because population movement number is small. The population movement rate irate is expected to be used to identify the central regions of the province and to analyze the difference in resident attractiveness.
