How Did the COVID-19 Pandemic Affect Mobility, Land Use, and Destination Selection? Lesson from Seoul, Korea

  • COVID-19 팬데믹은 정부의 예방 및 통제 조치, 사람들의 위험 인식의 변화, 그리고 생활 방식의 변화를 통해 상당한 사회적 변화를 가져왔다. 특히, 정부의 방역정책과 도시공간의 잠재적 감염 위험에 대한 우려는 교통수단과 도시공간에 대한 선호를 크게 변화시켰다. 이러한 변화는 COVID-19 팬데믹이후에도 도시 공간에 지속적인 영향을 미치거나 새로운 형태로 변화할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 코로나19 범유행에 따른 도시민의 이동수단 선호와 도시공간 이용 변화를 분석하여 도시공간이 현재와 미래의 감염병에 적응할 수 있는 회복탄력성과 잠재력을 탐색하고자 한다. 본 고는 이동 수단과 도시 공간에 대한 전반적인 선호도가 팬데믹 이전, 팬데믹 중, 팬데믹 종료에 따라 유의미하게 차이가 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 팬데믹 기간 동안 안전하다고 인식되는 개인 소유 차량과 녹지 공간을 제외하고는 전반적인 이동수단과 도시 공간에 대한 선호도가 감소하였다. 특히, 이동수단과 도시 공간에 대한 유행 중 선호도는 팬데믹 전에 비해 5배 가량 낮게 나타났다. 팬데믹 당시 긍정적으로 인식되었던 녹지 공간과 의료시설이 팬데믹 이전 선호도 수준으로 돌아올 것으로 예상되나, 다른 도시 공간 요소들은 뉴노멀을 맞이한 것으로 보인다. 본 결과는 코로나19 팬데믹이 도시민의 이동 수단과 도시 공간 선호에 큰 영향을 미쳤음을 시사한다.

The Effect of Surface Plasmon on Internal Photoemission Measured on Ag/$TiO_2$ Nanodiodes

  • Over the last several decades, innovative light-harvesting devices have evolved to achieve high efficiency in solar energy transfer. Research on the mechanisms for plasmon resonance is very desirable to overcome the conventional efficiency limits of photovoltaics. The influence of localized surface plasmon resonance on hot electron flow at a metal-semiconductor interface was observed with a Schottky diode composed of a thin silver layer on $TiO_2$. The photocurrent is generated by absorption of photons when electrons have enough energy to travel over the Schottky barrier and into the titanium oxide conduction band. The correlation between the hot electrons and the surface plasmon is confirmed by matching the range of peaks between the incident photons to current conversion efficiency (IPCE, flux of collected electrons per flux of incident photons) and UV-Vis spectra. The photocurrent measured on Ag/$TiO_2$ exhibited surface plasmon peaks; whereas, in contrast to the Au/$TiO_2$, a continuous Au thin film doesn't exhibit surface plasmon peaks. We modified the thickness and morphology of a continuous Ag layer by electron beam evaporation deposition and heating under gas conditions and found that the morphological change and thickness of the Ag film are key factors in controlling the peak position of light absorption.

SIEVING NONLINEAR INTERNAL WAVES IN SATELLITE IMAGES

  • Nonlinear internal waves (NLIW) were studied as a unusual phenomena in the ocean decades ago. As the quality, quantity and variety of satellite images improve over decades, it is founded that NLIW is a ubiquitous phenomenon. Over the continental shelf of northern South China Sea (SCS), both optical and microwave images show that there are trains of NLIW packets near Dongsha Atoll (20.7N, 116.8E). Each packet contains several NLIW fronts. These NLIW packets are nearly parallel to each other and they are refracted, reflected or diffracted by the change of ocean bottom topography. Based on Korteweg de Vries (KdV) theory and the assumption that the bright/dark lines in the satellite images are centers of convergence/divergence of NLIW fronts, one may (1) sort NLIW packets in the same satellite image into groups of the same source, but generated at different tidal cycles, (2) relate NLIW packets in consecutive satellite images of one day apart, (3) locating faint signals of NLIW fronts in a satellite image. The NLIWs travel more than 100 km/day near Dongsha Atoll, with higher speed in deeper water. The bias and standard deviation of predicted location of NLIW front from its true location is about 1% and 5.1%, respectively.

재난 인명 탐색을 위한 로봇 시스템 개발 (Development of a Robotic System for Searching Human Victims in Disasters)

  • This paper introduces a mobile robotic system being developed for urban search and rescue. In order to search human victims in narrow spaces, we developed two types of serially linked mobile robots, named KAEROT-Centipede and KAEROT-SnakeTV1, that can climb over large vertical steps or travel inside narrow vertical pipes. To send such mobile robots to the disaster areas coping with large obstacles, we also developed a assistant mobile robot, named KAEROT-QuadTrack, that has 4 articulated track modules. This paper describes the mechanical structure and control architecture of the serially linked mobile robots and the supporting configuration for torque reduction of the assistant mobile robot during spinning motion that usually requires large driving torque. The experimental results show that such robotic systems have good mobility over the various terrains in disaster areas.

고속 세틀링과 고정밀 위치 제어를 위한 모드 변경 제어 기법 (A New Mode Switching Control for Fast Settling and High Precision Positioning)

  • Recently, with rapid development of digital media like semiconductor and large flat panel display, the manufacturing equipment is required to have high precision over large travel range. Moreover it should have high product throughput. To achieve high product throughput, a controller should perform fast point-to-point motion and high precision positioning after settling in spite of external disturbances or residual vibrations. We proposed a new mode switching control algorithm with an application to dual stage for long range and high precision positioning. The proposed algorithm uses a proximate time-optimal servomechanism for the fast settling and a time-delay controller for the high precision positioning. Experimental results show that the proposed method enables smooth mode switching and improves the settling time and the precision accuracy after settling by over than 33% and 45%, respectively.

듀얼스테이지를 이용한 고정밀도의 하이브리드 밀링머신 (High Precision Hybrid Milling Machine Using Dual-Stage)

  • High precision machining technology has become one of the important parts in the development of a precision machine. Such a machine requires high speed on a large workspace as well as high precision positioning. For machining systems having a long stroke with ultra precision, a dual-stage system including a global stage (coarse stage) and a micro stage (fine stage) is designed in this paper. Though linear motors have a long stroke and high precision feed drivers, they have some limitations for submicron positioning. Piezo-actuators with high precision also have severe disadvantage for the travel range, and the stroke is limited to a few microns. In the milling experiments, the positional accuracy has been readily achieved within 0.2 micron over the typical 20 mm stroke, and the path error over 2 micron was reduced within 0.2 micron. Therefore, this technique can be applied to develop high precision positioning and machining in the micro manufacturing and machining system.

태충 유침 및 전침이 병태모델 흰쥐의 장운동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Acupuncture and Electro-acupuncture at $LR_3$ on Intestinal Motility in Rats)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of acupuncture and electro-acupuncture at $LR_3$ on intestinal motility in rat. Methods : We made over-activated state of intestinal motility with carbachol and suppressed state of intestinal motility with loperamide in rat and carried out needle retention acupuncture and high frequency electro-acupuncture at $LR_3$ in rat devided into pre-treatment group and post-treatment group. The charcoal travel rate was measured to evaluate the intestinal motility. Results : 1. High frequency electro-acupuncture at $LR_3$ have significant influences on intestinal motility of rat in normal state. 2. Pre-treatment of needle retention acupuncture, high frequency electro-acupuncture significantly decreased intestinal motility in rat which over-activated with carbachol. 3. Post-treatment of high frequency electro-acupuncture significantly increased intestinal motility in rat which suppressed with loperamide. Conclusions : These results suggest that acupuncture and electro-acupuncture at $LR_3$ are effective on intestinal motility in rat.

Over the Rainbow: How to Fly over with ChatGPT in Tourism

  • Tourism and hospitality have encountered significant changes in recent years as a result of the rapid development of information technology (IT). Customers now expect more expedient services and customized travel experiences, which has intensified competition among service providers. To meet these demands, businesses have adopted sophisticated IT applications such as ChatGPT, which enables real-time interaction with consumers and provides recommendations based on their preferences. This paper focuses on the AI support-prompt middleware system, which functions as a mediator between generative AI and human users, and discusses two operational rules associated with it. The first rule is the Information Processing Rule, which requires the middleware system to determine appropriate responses based on the context of the conversation using techniques for natural language processing. The second rule is the Information Presentation Rule, which requires the middleware system to choose an appropriate language style and conversational attitude based on the gravity of the topic or the conversational context. These rules are essential for guaranteeing that the middleware system can fathom user intent and respond appropriately in various conversational contexts. This study contributes to the planning and analysis of service design by deriving design rules for middleware systems to incorporate artificial intelligence into tourism services. By comprehending the operation of AI support-prompt middleware systems, service providers can design more effective and efficient AI-driven tourism services, thereby improving the customer experience and obtaining a market advantage.

해외여행지의 관광이미지 포지셔닝 비교연구: 신혼여행지를 중심으로 (A Comparative Study of Oversea Honeymoon Destination Image)

  • 본 연구는 소비자의 가치지각 측면별 이미지 차별화를 각 세분시장에 따라 검토함으로써 여행시장 전반의 경쟁력 제고 및 커뮤니케이션 전략의 효율성을 개선하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 계절적인 목적지 특성에 따라 우리나라 해외신혼여행객이 해외신혼여행목적지를 선택할 때 어떻게 차이가 있는지를 분석하고자 하였다. 본 논문에서는 다차원 척도법을 적용하여 7개의 여행지(괌/사이판, 호주/뉴질랜드, 중국, 일본, 하와이, 태국, 유럽)를 중심으로 여행을 경험하였거나 신혼여행을 계획하고 있는 사람들을 대상으로 하였으며, 분석결과 목적지별로 계절에 따라 지각도의 위치가 달라지는 것을 확인하였다. 본 논문의 공간상에 지각측면을 시각화한 연구 결과를 통해 해외신혼 여행지 시장전반에 걸친 경쟁력 제고 및 목적지별 다양한 전략적 시사점은 여행기업 내의 가능한 대체전략을 수립하는 기초자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

교통흐름 예측 결과틀 적용한 동적 최단 경로 탐색 (A dynamic Shortest Path Finding with Forecasting Result of Traffic Flow)

  • 텔레매틱스 서비스 중 가장 보편적으로 사용되는 것이 출발지에서 목적지까지의 최단 경로 안내 서비스이다. 본 논문에서는 미래 시간에 대한 교통흐름 예측 결과를 바탕으로 한 동적 최단 경로 탐색 시스템을 개발하고 실시간교통정보를 이용한 다양한 실험을 수행하여 성능을 분석하였다. 교통흐름 예측은 베이지안 네트워크 (Bayesian network)를 이용한 예측 시스템을 사용하였다. 동일한 출발지와 목적지에 대해 동적 최단 경로와 정적 및 누적 최단 경로를 탐색하고 각 경로에 대한 통행 시간을 계산하여 실제 최단 경로의 통행시간과 비교하였다. 실험 결과 75% 이상의 비율로 동적 최단 경로의 통행시간이 정적이나 누적 최단 경로의 통행시간보다 실제 최단경로의 통행시간에 가깝게 나타났다. 따라서 중간 경유지에 도착 예정인 시간대의 교통 흐름을 예측하여 동적 최단 경로를 구하는 것이 출발시간의 교통흐름을 모든 구간에 적용하여 최단 경로를 구하는 정적 최단 경로에 비해 더 정확한 교통정보를 제공하여 텔레매틱스 서비스의 품질을 향상시킬 수 있음을 보여 주었다.
