In order to synchronize a remote system time to the reference time like Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), it is required to compare the time difference between the two clocks. The time comparison data may have some outliers and the time synchronization performance can be significantly degraded if the outliers are not removed. Therefore, it is required to employ an effective outlier detection algorithm for keeping high accurate system time. In this paper, an outlier detection method is presented for the time difference data of GNSS time transfer receivers. The time difference data between the system time and the GNSS usually have slopes because the remote system clock is under free running until synchronized to the reference clock time. For investigating the outlier detection performance of the proposed algorithm, simulations are performed by using the time difference data of a GNSS time transfer receiver corrected to a free running Cesium clock with intentionally inserted outliers. From the simulation, it is investigated that the proposed algorithm can effectively detect the inserted outliers while conventional methods such as modified Z-score and adjusted boxplot cannot. Furthermore, it is also observed that the synchronization performance can be degraded to more than 15% with 20 outliers compared to that of original data without outliers.

Density-based outlier detection is one of the hot issues in data mining. A point is determined as outlier on basis of the density of points near them. The existing density-based detection algorithms have high time complexity, in order to reduce the time complexity, a new outlier detection algorithm DODMD (Density-based Outlier Detection in Multidimensional Datasets) is proposed. Firstly, on the basis of ZH-tree, the concept of micro-cluster is introduced. Each leaf node is regarded as a micro-cluster, and the micro-cluster is calculated to achieve the purpose of batch filtering. In order to obtain n sets of approximate outliers quickly, a greedy method is used to calculate the boundary of LOF and mark the minimum value as LOFmin. Secondly, the outliers can filtered out by LOFmin, the real outliers are calculated, and then the result set is updated to make the boundary closer. Finally, the accuracy and efficiency of DODMD algorithm are verified on real dataset and synthetic dataset respectively.
A method for acquiring an environmental map by integrating distance data obtained by sonars of a moving robot with web interface is proposed. Sonar data contains outliers in some cases such as ultrasonic beam is projected onto a corner of an object. Therefore, the influence of the outliers should be reduced by detecting outliers. In our method, the outliers are detected by two ways: (i) a method considering geometrical .elation among the observed surface and the projected ultrasonic beau, and (ii) a method considering consistency with data obtained by other sonars. By measurement by the sonar, the distance from the sonar to the obstacle is obtained. Assuming the two dimensional space we can know that the inside of the sector, whose renter coincide with the sonar and whose radius is equal to the obtained distance, is the free area, and a part of the arc of this sector is the obstacle area. The generation of the environmental map is done by integrating the free area and the obstacle area obtained by each measurement by the sonars. Before the integration, the outliers detection is done by two ways mentioned above. Experimental results show that obtained maps obtained by our methods with outliers defection are much better than those by a method without outliers detection.

Outliers, unexpected extraordinary observations that look discordant from most observation in a data set are commonplace in various kinds of data analysis. Since the effect of outliers on model identification could be serious, the aim of this paper is to present some ways of handling outliers in given data set and to specify a model in the presence of outliers. A procedure based on neural network which identifies outliers, removes their effects, and specifies a model for the underlying process is proposed. In contrast with traditional parametric methods requiring to estimate the model's structure and parameters before detecting outliers, the proposed procedure is a nonparametric method without the estimation of model's structure and parameters before handling outliers and could be applied for real problems in the presence of outliers. The proposed methodology is performed as followings. Firstly, outliers are detected and the detected outliers replace the prediction values using outliers detection neural network. The data set removing the effect of outliers is retraining using neural network. Therefore the effects of outliers are removed and the modeling precision can be improved. Experimental results show that the proposed method is suitable for predicting data set in the presence of outliers.
In the livestock industry, detecting environmental outliers and predicting data are crucial tasks. Outliers in livestock environment data, typically gathered through time-series methods, can signal rapid changes in the environment and potential unexpected epidemics. Prompt detection and response to these outliers are essential to minimize stress in livestock and reduce economic losses for farmers by early detection of epidemic conditions. This study employs two methods to experiment and compare performances in setting thresholds that define outliers in livestock environment data outlier detection. The first method is an outlier detection using Mean Squared Error (MSE), and the second is an outlier detection using a Dynamic Threshold, which analyzes variability against the average value of previous data to identify outliers. The MSE-based method demonstrated a 94.98% accuracy rate, while the Dynamic Threshold method, which uses standard deviation, showed superior performance with 99.66% accuracy.

Genetic algorithm(GA) is applied for detecting multiple outliers. GA is a heuristic optimization tool solving for near optimal solution. We compare the performance of GA and the other diagnostic measures commonly used for detecting outliers in regression model. The results show that GA seems to have better performance than the others for the detection of multiple outliers.

Observational methods such as the Asaoka's method and the hyperbolic method are widely applied on the settlement analysis using observed settlement. The most unreliable aspects in those methods is arose from the subjective discretion of initial non-linearity on linear regression. The initial non-linearity is inevitable due to the settlement behaviour itself. Therefore an objective method is essential to achieve more reliable results on settlement analysis. It was found that the initial non-linear data are statistical outliers. New automation algorithms of the hyperbolic and the Asaoka's method were developed based on outlier detection method. The methods are a successive detection of outliers and a searching method of suitable hyperbolic range for the Asaoka's and the hyperbolic method respectively. Applicability of the algorithms was verified through case studies.
Observations identified as potential outliers are usually tested for real outliers; however, some outlier detection methods skip a formal test or perform a test using simulated p-values. We introduce test procedures for outliers by testing subsets of potential outliers rather than by testing individual observations of potential outliers to avoid masking or swamping effects. Examples to illustrate methods and a Monte Carlo study to compare the power of the various methods are presented.

In recent years, many people use R as a statistics system. R is frequently updated by many R project teams. We are interested in the method of multiple outlier detection and know that R is not supplied the method of multiple outlier detection. In this talk, we review these procedures for detecting multiple outliers and provide more efficient procedures combined with direct methods and indirect methods using R.

In this paper we consider the problem of identifying and testing outliers in linear regression. First we consider the use of the so-called scale ratio tests for testing the null hypothesis of no outliers. This test is based on the ratio of two residual scale estimates. We show the asymptotic distribution of the test statistics and investigate its properties. Next we consider the problem of identifying the outliers. A forward sequential procedure using the suggested test is proposed. The new method is compared with classical procedure in the real data example. Unlike other forward procedures, the present one is unaffected by masking and swamping effects because the test statistic is based on robust scale estimate.
