변전소 형태 및 설비규모의 결정 (Application Standards for Substation Types and Facility Scales)

  • Substations in Korea are classified into an outdoor steel structure type, an outdoor GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) type, an indoor GIS type, an underground GIS type, and a complex GIS type. Before 1970, substations were built in outdoor steel structure types only. In 1980, an 154kV indoor GIS type substation was built for the first time in Pusan. And the first 345kV indoor GIS type substation, the first 765kV full GIS substation were built in 1984 and in 2002 each. In 1998, 154kV indoor type substations were standardized into regular type and urban type which applied steel frames to structures. In 2002, this was re-standardized into five different types in detail. In 2007, hub substations which had high capacity were built in the region of industrial zone and heavy load areas. And 154kV compact substation was developed and standardized by compacting an indoor GIS type substation in 2009. This paper would present a series of substation type transition and application standards for substation types and facility scales.

옥외 변전소 변압기의 소음레벨 기준에 대한 연구 (A Study on Standards of Transformer Noise Level for Outdoor Substation)

  • Customer complaints on noise from the power transformer have been increased because of their concerns on environment. In order to solve fundamental noise problem of the transformer, KEPCO and domestic transformer manufacturers are developing 55 dBA class low noise transformers. To check accordance of the noise abatement law, we study relation between transformer noise level and substation border noise level. We present 'noise level of the substation border' under operating conditions and transformer noise level change. We also present an appropriate noise level of the transformer that satisfy the noise abatement law for outdoor substations.

  • For two decades and more, a lot of research work on the biological effects of EMF (Electromagnetic Field) on human health have been reported. Electric facilities in a typical substation are the main source of magnetic field. This paper presents the measurement and analysis of magnetic field in 345/154KV outdoor substation. The magnetic field depends on the currents which distributed by electric facilities. The result of this paper will be able to be used as basic informations to reduce the level of EMF from the electric utility facilities.

154kV 콤팩트 변전소 표준모델 개발 및 실증 (Development and Construction of 154kV Compact Substation Standard Model)

  • Before 1970s, 154kV substations in Korea were built in outdoor steel structure types only. In early 1970s, Germany developed GIS and the first indoor GIS type substation was built in Korea in 1980. In 1998, 154kV indoor type substations were standardized into regular type and urban type which applied steel frames to structures. In 2002, this was re-standardized into five different types in detail. In 2009, 154kV compact substation design was developed and standardized and saved about 20% of the construction cost with new technology and methods. Compact substations were classified into three types ; urban type, multi-function type, and regular type. The first urban type compact substation, Jang-ki substation, was built in Kimpo in June, 2010. This paper would present the standard model of 154kV compact substation and the way of improving facilities for the first compact substation.

  • Because the overhead transmission lines are exposed to the outdoor weather, the faults of the transmission lines are due to natural conditions, and among these faults, the outage rate by lightning is about $50\%$. Therefore, the insulation design is important to decrease the damage of the facility and to increase the reliability of electric power system. This paper describes the protective method of substation equipments using the Underbuilt Ground Wire and the Guy Wire. This would not only reduce backflashover possibility but also minimize crest and duration of surges entering the substation. EMTP is used to analyze the efficiency of the proposed methods.

  • With the increase of electric power demand in the downtown area. many problems, such as the difficulty in security of substation site and interference of the electromagnetic wave or damage to person due to outdoor type substation facilities has been occured. Therefore, the compaction of substation facilities is required and the gas insulated switchgear(GIS) has been adopted accordingly. However, much care should be taken of the interface problem between cable and GIS. This paper describes the failure analysis and a countmeasure for prevent ion from failure in the interface.

  • The degree of contamination on outdoor insulators is one of the most importance factor to determine the pollution level of outdoor insulation. Outdoor insulators in coastal are affected due to salty wind blowing from the seaside. The sea salt is known as the most dangerous pollutant. As known through the preceding study, the generation of salt pollutant and the pollution degree of outdoor insulators have a close relation in accordance with meteorological conditions, such as temperature, humidity, dewpoint, wind velocity and wind direction. Therefore, at first, we have analyzed relation between meteorological conditions and contaminants for development of prediction method. In this paper, we have investigated a statistical estimation technique based on actual data for equivalent salt deposit density(ESDD) of outdoor insulators which were installed in Kochang field test substation with multiple linear regression analysis.

  • Current design standard of substation grounding systems is primarily concerned with conventional outdoor substations. But in case of 154kV substations in the nation, almost all are indoor-type GIS substations. So there became to be something not proper for application of present design standard to indoor-type substations. In this paper, as a preliminary stage of drawing-up of the grounding system design standard which concerned with in-door-type substions, issues of current design standard are mentioned and directions of improvement are also presented.

  • Surface contamination and leakage current have caused operating problems. A flashover in a substation may result in destruction of an insulator or many others electrical equipment. Engineering plastics have good characteristic (light weight, good productivity and little of void) as compare with epoxy or porcelain insulators. Outdoor insulator must have resistance to contamination. However, it isn't suited to outdoor insulator because it is not hydrophobic. RTV(Room temperature vulcanizing) has a good property of hydrophobic and micro-filler. nano-filler have characteristics of obstructing exothermic reaction. In order to reduce the incidence of insulator flashover and damage, the silicon rubber contained with micro, nano-filler coating on surface of engineering plastics. In this paper, it compares tracking resistance, leakage current of the engineering plastic coated RTV with that of non-coated engineering plastic. And filled-composites performed much better than non-filled composites.
