  • This research analyzes users' cognitive responses to Out-Of-Home advertising content based in virtual environments. Specifically, it distinguishes the depth of advertisements as 2D or 3D and categorizes animation effects of light as a representation of virtuality into 'none', 'blinking', and 'flowing'. For this purpose, virtual reality content was developed, and after experiencing the content while wearing HMD, users' cognitive responses were investigated. Involving 60 participants, the study found that the interaction effects between depth perception and animation effects were not statistically significant, nor was the primary effect of depth perception. However, the main effect of animation showed statistically significant differences in users' attention, vividness, perceived intrusiveness, avoidance tendency, and flow. This study presents design elements that can be utilized in the production of virtual environment-based Out-Of-Home advertising and experimentally demonstrates that animation effects can serve as an effective means of emphasis in virtual environment advertising. These findings provide important insights for the creation and strategic planning of advertisements in virtual environments.

Third, in terms of expression, text took up more weight than visual elements, and illustrations were the main visual expression element. This proves that the public content of domestic outdoor advertisements mainly has a strong purpose of conveying direct information.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of combining DOOH advertising, which has fully met the functional requirements of a standalone digital medium, with transmedia storytelling as a expansion of a new advertising area. This researcher examined the concept of transmedia storytelling used in various fields and its application cases in dramas, movies, and webtoons, and analyzed examples of transmedia storytelling approaches in the field of advertising. As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that although OOH advertising has brought many changes in the way of content implementation with the advent of digital signage, DOOH advertising needs to be approached in a more diverse way in a situation where the boundaries that were considered to be the unique domain of each content are blurring. In particular, it has been analyzed that it can not only fulfill its role as an independent medium but also expand the scope of DOOH advertising by combining it with transmedia storytelling enthusiasts. These results suggest the need to incorporate DOOH advertising with transmedia storytelling strategies.

  • DOOH(Digital Out Of Home) advertising targets for reaching consumers through outdoor digital display medias. Traditionally, scheduling of advertisement contents over DOOH medias is usually done by operator's strategy, but an efficient ad scheduling strategy is not easy to find under various advertising contexts. In this paper, we present a context-aware factorization machine-based recommendation model for the scheduling under various advertising contexts, and provide analysis for understanding of the contexts' effects on advertising based on the recommendation model. Through simulation results on the dataset adapted from a real dataset of RecSys challenge 2015, it is shown that the proposed model and analysis based on the model will be effective for better scheduling of ad contents under advertising contexts over DOOH networks.

  • K-Pop Square Media, located at COEX in Samseong-dong, has gained public attention and mass media focus by showcasing various three-dimensional videos on a large LED display. The video content on the distinctive large curved LED display utilizes a form of media façade technique, establishing itself as a new landmark and attraction within the spatial characteristics of the COEX Plaza. This study aims to examine the characteristics of media facades used in outdoor advertising in urban spaces, focusing on K-Pop Square Media. The approach for this research involves three aspects: Firstly, examining the 'spatial characteristics' of urban public spaces by referencing Kevin Lynch's five elements constituting urban space and William J. Mitchell's exploration of smart spaces and changes in spatial paradigms. Secondly, analyzing the 'digital nature' of outdoor advertising through an examination of three types of Digital Out-Of-Home (DOOH) Media. Thirdly, exploring the 'technological advancements and content composition of media facades' by investigating types of display media (projection, LED screens), the inception of media facades, and the latest display technology like Anamorphic displays. Through this research, it becomes evident that K-Pop Square Media exhibits characteristics of publicness, communicativeness, artistry, and placemaking through the spatial characteristics of smart spaces, the media-specific aspects of Digital Out-Of-Home advertising, and the content composition of media facades.
