  • In this paper, we propose a (2,2)-reversible secret image sharing scheme using histogram shifting and difference expansion. Two techniques are widely used in information hiding. Advantages of them are the low distortion between cover and stego images, and high embedding capacity. In secret image sharing procedure, unlike Shamir's secret sharing, a histogram generate that the difference value between the original image and copy image is computed by difference expansion. And then, the secret image is embedded into original and copy images by using histogram shifting. Lastly, two generated shadow images are distributed to each participant by the dealer. In the experimental results, we measure a capacity of a secret image and a distortion ratio between original image and shadow image. The results show that the embedding capacity and image distortion ratio of the proposed scheme are superior to the previous schemes.

  • We propose the optical encryption system using two divided image to hide the original image and a joint transform correlator. The encryption procedure is performed by the Fourier transform of the product of each phase encoded image (divided phase images) and the same random phase image which is generated by computer processing. An autocorrelation term of joint transform correlator contributes to decrypt the original image. This system will be used in optical certification.

  • Video camera play very important roles for preventing many kinds of crimes and resolving those crime affairs. But in the case of recording image of a specific person far from the CCTV, the original image needs to be enlarged and recovered in order to identify the person more obviously. Interpolation is usually used for the enlargement and recovery of the image in this case. However, it has a certain limitation. As the magnification of enlargement is getting bigger, the quality of the original image can be worse. This paper uses FOP(Facial Definition Parameter) proposed by the MPEG-4 SNHC FBA group and introduces a new algorithm that uses face outline information of the original image based on the FOP, which makes it possible to recover better than the known methods until now.

  • An image authentication scheme for gray scale image through embedding a digital watermark by quantization of Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT) coefficients of the image is proposed in this paper. Proposed method is designed to detect modification of an image and to identify tampered location of the image. To embed the watermark mid-frequency band of a second level IWT was used. An approximation of the original image based on LL band was stored in LSB bits of the pixel data as a recovery mark for restoration of the image. Watermarked image has achieved a good PSNR of 40 dB compared to original cover image. Restored image quality was also very good with a PSNR of more than 35 dB compared to unmodified watermarked image even when 25% of the received image is cropped. Thus, the proposed method ensures a proper balance between the fidelity of the watermarked image and the quality of the restored image.

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm that improve color component of compensated image using Retinex method for back-light image. A back-light image has two regions, one of the region is too bright and the other one is too dark. If an back-light image is improved contrast using Retinex method, it loses color information in the part of brightness of the image. In order to make up loss information, proposed algorithm adds color components from original image. The histogram can be divided three parts that brightness, darkness, midway using K-mean (k=3) algorithm. For the brightness, it is used color information of the original image. For the darkness, it is converted using by Retinex method. The midway region is mixed between original image and Retinex result image in the ratio of histogram. The ratio is determined by distance from dark area. The proposed algorithm was tested on nature back-light images to evaluate performance, and the experimental result shows that proposed algorithm is more robust than original Retinex algorithm.

  • Reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) provides some real-time cloud applications; i.e. the cloud, acting as a data-hider, automatically embeds timestamp in the encrypted image uploaded by a content owner. Many existing methods of RDHEI only satisfy user privacy in which the data-hider does not know the original image, but leaks owner privacy in which the receiver can obtains the original image by decryption and extraction. In the literature, the method of Zhang et al. is the one providing weak content-owner privacy in which the content-owner and data-hider have to share a data-hiding key. In this paper, we take care of the stronger notion, called strong content-owner privacy, and achieve it by presenting a new reversible data hiding in encrypted images. In the proposed method, image decryption and message extraction are separately controlled by different types of keys, and thus such functionalities are decoupled to solve the privacy problem. At the technique level, the original image is segmented along a Hilbert filling curve. To keep image privacy, segments are transformed into an encrypted image by using random permutation. The encrypted image does not reveal significant information about the original one. Data embedment can be realized by using pixel histogram-style hiding, since this property, can be preserved before or after encryption. The proposed method is a modular method to compile some specific reversible data hiding to those in encrypted image with content owner privacy. Finally, our experimental results show that the image quality is 50.85dB when the averaged payload is 0.12bpp.

  • The main purpose of this work was to restore the blurry chest CT images by applying a blind deconvolution algorithm. In general, image restoration is the procedure of improving the degraded image to get the true or original image. In this regard, we focused on a blind deblurring approach with chest CT imaging by using digital image processing in MATLAB, which the blind deconvolution technique performed without any whole knowledge or information as to the fundamental point spread function (PSF). For our approach, we acquired 30 chest CT images from the public source and applied three type's PSFs for finding the true image and the original PSF. The observed image might be convolved with an isotropic gaussian PSF or motion blurring PSF and the original image. The PSFs are assumed as a black box, hence restoring the image is called blind deconvolution. For the 30 iteration times, we analyzed diverse sizes of the PSF and tried to approximate the true PSF and the original image. For improving the ringing effect, we employed the weighted function by using the sobel filter. The results was compared with the three criteria including mean squared error (MSE), root mean squared error (RMSE) and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), which all values of the optimal-sized image outperformed those that the other reconstructed two-sized images. Therefore, we improved the blurring chest CT image by using the blind deconvolutin algorithm for optimal approach.

  • Many image display devices allow only a limited number of colors to be simultaneously displayed. In displaying of natural color image using color palette, it is necessary to construct an optimal color palette and map each pixel of the original image to a color palette with fast. In this paper, we proposed the clustering algorithm using local region block centered one color cluster in the prequantized 3-D histogram. Cluster pairs which have the least distortion error are merged by considering distortion measure. The clustering process is continued until to obtain the desired number of colors. Same as the clustering process, original color image is mapped to palette color via a local region block centering around prequantized original color value. The proposed algorithm incorporated with a spatial activity weighting value which is smoothing region. The method produces high quality display images and considerably reduces computation time.

  • Image stacking technique is one of the key techniques for complex surface reconstruction. The process includes sample collection, image processing, algorithm editing, surface reconstruction, and finally reaching reliable conclusions. Since this experiment is based on laser scanning confocal microscope to collect the original contour information of the sample, it is necessary to briefly introduce the relevant principle and operation method of laser scanning confocal microscope. After that, the original image is collected and processed, and the data is expanded by interpolation method. Meanwhile, several methods of surface reconstruction are listed. After comparing the advantages and disadvantages of each method, one-dimensional interpolation and volume rendering are finally used to reconstruct the 3D model. The experimental results show that the final 3d surface modeling is more consistent with the appearance information of the original samples. At the same time, the algorithm is simple and easy to understand, strong operability, and can meet the requirements of surface reconstruction of different types of samples.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved optical security system using three phase-encoded images and the principle of interference. This optical system based on a Mach-Zehnder interferometer consists of one phase-encoded virtual image to be encrypted and two phase-encoded images, en-crypting image and decrypting image, where every pixel in the three images has a phase value of '0'and'$\pi$'. The proposed encryption is performed by the multiplication of an encrypting image and a phase-encoded virtual image which dose not contain any information from the decrypted im-age. Therefore, even if the unauthorized users steal and analyze the encrypted image, they cannot reconstruct the required image. This virtual image protects the original image from counterfeiting and unauthorized access. The decryption of the original image is simply performed by interfering between a reference wave and a direct pixel-to-pixel mapping image of the en crypted image with a decrypting image. Computer simulations confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed optical technique for optical security applications.
