An Efficient Proxy-Signcryption Scheme for Mobile Communications (이동통신 환경에 적합한 효율적인 Proxy-Signcryption 방식)

  • According to the development of mobile communications, the future mobile communication systems are expected to provide high quality multimedia service to users. Therefore, many technical factors we needed in these systems. Especially the confidentiality and the security would be obtained through the introduction of the security for mobile communications. In this paper, we propose an efficient Proxy-Signcryption scheme, which can be performed digital signature and encryption by using the proxy agent who has more computational power under mobile communications environment. The proposed scheme provides non-repudiation and prevents creating illegal signature by the origin and proxy agent in a phase of proxy signature processing. This scheme also keeps the confidentiality and the security in mobile communication by means of confirming the signature by right receiver.

  • Wireless mesh network, which is an access network technology, adopts ubiquitous features of ad-hoc network that includes capabilities of self-configuration and self-management. This paper proposes a scheme which enables nodes along route in wireless mesh network to authenticate data and verify data integrity. The scheme distinguishes infra-node, which is a network device used to form mesh network, and user node in ad-hoc network, which operates functions as a sender, receiver or relayer, to deploy different authentication scheme. That is, hop-based authentication scheme along route forming wireless backbone differs from authentication scheme for user nodes in route over MANET. The proposed scheme is less complex than previously proposed schemes from the repects of security setup procedures and managements. In addition, the scheme is able to reduce transmission delay from a source to a destination owing to fast authentication over wireless backbone.

  • Distributed Denial-of-Service(DDoS) attack prevent users from accessing services on the target network by spoofing its origin source address with a large volume of traffic. The objective of IP Traceback is to determine the real attack sources, as well as the full path taken by the attack packets. Existing IP Traceback methods can be categorized as proactive or reactive dating. Proactive tracing(such as packet marking and messaging) prepares information for tracing when packets are in transit. Reactive tracing starts tracing after an attack is detected. In this paper, we propose a 'advanced ICW Traceback' mechanism, which is based on the modified pushback system with secure router mechanism. Proposed mechanism can detect and control DDoS traffic on router and can generate ICMP Traceback message for reconstructing origin attack source, by which we can diminish network overload and enhance Traceback performance.

Building a Database of DQT Information to Identify a Source of the SmartPhone JPEG Image File (스마트폰 JPEG 파일의 출처 식별을 위한 DQT 정보 데이터베이스 구축)

  • As taking pictures by using smartphones has become more common in society, there are many incidents which are unexpected manipulation of images and leak of confidential information. Because of those incidents, demands that identify forgery/alteration of image file and proves of the original copy is constantly increasing. In general, smartphone saves image file as JPEG form and it has DQT which determines a compression rate of image in a header part of image. There is also DQT in Thumbnail image which inside of JPEG. In previous research, it identified a smartphone which take image by only using DQT, However, the research has low accuracy to identify the devices. There are two main purposes in this research. First, this research will analogize a smartphone and an application that takes a picture, edits and save an image file by testing not only about a DQT information but also a information of Thumbnail image. Second, the research will build a database of DQT and Thumbnail information in JPEG file to find more accurate image file's origin.

  • As computers and networks become popular, distributing information on the Internet is common in our daily life. Also, the explosion of the Internet, of wireless digital communication and data exchange on Internet has rapidly changed the way we connect with other people. But secure mail is gaining popularity abroad and domestically because of their nature of providing security. That is. It has been used a variety of fields such as general mail and e-mail for advertisement. But, As the data transmitted on network can be easily opened or forged with simple operations. Most of existing e-mail system don't have any security on the transmitted information. Thus, security mail system need to provide security including message encryption, content integrity, message origin authentication, and non-repudiation. In this paper, we design and implement secure mail system with secure key agreement algorithm, non-repudiation service, and encryption capability to provide services for certification of delivery and certification of content as well as the basic security services.

  • Recently, a great attention has been paid to a vehicle black box device in the auto markets since it provides an accident re-construction based on the data which contains audio, video, and some meaningful driving informations. It is expected that the device will get to promote around commercial vehicles and the market will greatly grow within a few years. Drivers who equips the device in their car believes that it can find the origin of an accident and help an objective judge. Unfortunately, the current one does not provide the integrity of the data stored in the device. That is the data can be forged or modified by outsider or insider adversary because it is just designed to keep the latest data produced by itself. This fact cause a great concern in car insurance and law enforcement, since the unprotected data cannot be trusted. To resolve the problem, in this paper, we propose a novel real-time integrity protection scheme for vehicle black box device. We also present the evaluation results by simulation using our software implementation.

Advanced n based Packet Marking Mechanism for IP Traceback (TTL 기반 패킷 마킹 방식을 적용한 IP 패킷 역추적 기법)

The objective of IP Traceback is to determine the real attack sources, as well as the full path taken by the attack packets. Existing IP Traceback methods can be categorized as proactive or reactive tracing. Existing PPM based tracing scheme(such as router node appending, sampling and edge sampling) insert traceback information in IP packet header for IP Traceback. But, these schemes did not provide enhanced performance in DDoS attack. In this paper, we propose a 'TTL based advanced Packet Marking' mechanism for IP Traceback. Proposed mechanism can detect and control DDoS traffic on router and can generate marked packet for reconstructing origin DDoS attack source, by which we can diminish network overload and enhance traceback performance.

  • In this paper, we describe a defense mechanism to cope with stepping stones attacks in high-speed networks. (Stepping stones Attacker launches attacks not from their own computer but from intermediary hosts that they previously compromised.) We aim at tracing origin hacker system, which attack target system via stepping stones. There are two kind of traceback technology ; IP packet traceback, or connection traceback. We are concerned with connection traceback in this paper. We propose a new host-based traceback. The purpose of this paper is that distinguish between origin hacker system and stepping stones by using process structure of OS(Operating System).

  • Underwater Wireless Communication System can be useful for research of quality of water, ocean resources exploration, analysis ocean environment and so on. However, there exist security threats including data loss, data forgery, and another variety of security threats, because of characteristics of water, various geographical factors, intended attack, etc. To solve these problem, in this paper, we propose a CCM-UW mode of operation modified form of CCM mode of operation, providing data confidentiality, integrity, origin authentication and anti-attack prevent, for the Underwater Wireless Communication System. By implementing CCM-UW in MACA protocol(Underwater Wireless Communication MAC Protocol) and measuring speed of communication, we confirm the applicability of the security and analyze the communication environment impact.
