Experimental Study on Characteristics of Two-Phase Flow through a Bypass Orifice Expansion Device

  • To establish optimum cycle of the inverter-driven heat pump with a variation of frequency, the bypass orifice, which was a short tube haying a bypass hole in the middle, was designed and tested. Flow characteristics of the bypass orifice were measured as a function of orifice geometry and operating conditions. Flow trends with respect to frequency were compared with those of short tube orifices and capillary tubes. Generally, the bypass orifice showed the best flow trends among them. and it would enhance the seasonal energy efficiency ratio of an inverter heat pump system, Based on experimental data, a semi-empirical flow model was developed to predict mass flow rate through bypass orifices. The maximum difference between measured data and model`s prediction was within $\pm$5%.

오리피스 튜브에 의한 단계별 냄새 분석용 희석가스의 제조방법에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Production Method of Stepwise Dilution Gas for Odor Analysis with Orifice Tubes)

  • 본 연구는 냄새 농도 평가를 위한 공기희석관능법의 단계별 희석가스 제조방법에 관한 것으로, 시료가스와 무취가스를 오리피스 튜브로 조절하여 희석하는 방법에 관한 것이다. 10배 및 30배 희석용 오리피스 튜브를 설계하고, 10, 30, 100, 300 및 1,000배 등의 단계별 희석가스를 10배 및 30배 희석용 오리피스 튜브를 반복적으로 사용하여 다양한 희석배율의 희석가스를 제조할 수 있다. 10배 희석용 오리피스 튜브의 홀 크기는 0.84 mm, 30배 희석용 오리피스 튜브의 홀 크기는 0.32 mm로 제작하였다. 제작된 냄새 평가를 위한 시료가스 희석용 오리피스 튜브에 의한 제조된 희석가스의 균질성은 2%RSD 내외로 우수한 재현성을 확인하였다. 또한, 기존 주사기를 이용하는 공기희석관능법에 의해 제조된 희석가스 농도와 비교하여 90% 이상의 상관성을 보이고 있었다. 진공펌프의 유량 변화에 따른 희석가스의 농도변화가 없이 간단히 진공흡인상자의 전단에 설치하여 활용할 수 있어 향후 다양한 현장 적용 평가 및 공기희석관능법과의 비교 연구를 통하여 현장에서의 복합악취 등의 평가에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 볼텍스 튜브는 고압의 가스를 이용하여 고온 가스와 저온 가스를 분리하거나 입자상 물질의 분리에 사용 할 수 있는 장치이다. 본 연구에서는 직경 10mm의 볼텍스 튜브의 기본 설계 자료를 구축하기 위하여 에너지 분리 성능 실험을 수행하였다. 설계를 위한 기초 자료를 확보하기 위하여, 공급압력, 볼텍스 발생기의 오리피스 직경 및 튜브의 길이가 에너지 분리 특성에 미치는 영향력을 실험을 통하여 분석하였다. 결과적으로 오리피스 직경과 공급압력이 볼텍스 튜브의 성능의 지배적인 성능인자임을 확인하였다. 튜브길이가 성능에 미치는 영향은 미미하였다. Dc=0.7D, L=16D의 볼텍스 튜브에서 가장 우수한 에너지 분리효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

안내관 제트유동 억제시의 하나로 원형 조사공의 냉각특성 (The Cooling Characteristics for Circular Irradiation Hole under Suppressing Jet Flow at Guide Tube in HANARO)

  • The HANARO, multi-purpose research reactor, 30 MWth open-tank-in- pool type, is under normal operation since it reached the initial critical in February 1995. The HANARO is planning to produce a fission moly-99 of radio isotopes, a mother nuclide of Tc-99m, a medical isotope and is under developing a target handling tool for loading and unloading it in a circular flow tube (OR-5). A guide tube is extended from the reactor core to the top of the reactor chimney for easily un/loading a target under the reactor normal operation. But active coolant through the core can be quickly raised up to the top of the chimney through the guide tube by jet flow. This paper is described an analytical analysis to calculate the hole size of a orifice inserted in the circular irradiation hole and to study the flow characteristics through the guide tube under reactor normal operation and loading the target. As results, the results show that the hole size of orifice was 31 mm of the inner diameter to suppress the guide tube jet flow and the coolant safely cooled the target of fission moly after inserting the orifice to the flow tube.

연동펌프의 유량맥동 조절과 역류현상을 방지하는 장치에 대한 연구 (A Study for Regulating Flow Fluctuation and Preventing Backflow of Peristaltic Pump)

  • Though a peristaltic pump is a crucial element in miniaturized drug delivery systems, it has some intrinsic disadvantages such as backflow and flow fluctuation. To overcome these limitation, we have developed valve-less peristaltic pump system including orifice and stagnation chamber. we measured flow rate to investigate the performance of rotary peristaltic pump with three rollers and an elastomeric tube pumping a viscous fluid. The flow fluctuations and the backflow happen as a result from the disengagement of the contact interaction between the rollers and the tubes. Stagnation chamber installed in front of orifice plate was composed of rubber tube and gas chamber. By changing orifice hole diameter with stagnation chamber flow rate and pressure in the tube was regulated. The obtained maximum reduction ratio of flow fluctuation is 96.79%.

항공기의 도어 댐퍼용 교축 오리피스의 설계 (Design of Throttle Orifices for an Aircraft Door Damper)

  • In this study the flow rate-to-pressure difference characteristics of short-tube type damping orifices for an aircraft door damper were investigated by CFD analyses and experiments. As the design parameters of the damping orifice its diameter, inlet and outlet angle, tube length and the viscosity of the working fluid were taken into consideration. The results showed that the discharge coefficient of the orifices are dependant on the inlet and outlet angle and the oil viscosity, while their length plays an little significant role. Although the short-tube type damping orifice was employed to induce a turbulent flow, their discharge coefficient decreases rapidly as the oil viscosity gets higher than 50mm2/s. Therefore, in order to determine the orifice size, satisfying the working temperature range of the door damper, the oil viscosity as well as the friction force on the damper piston should be kept within proper values. For the verification of the CFD analysis results the actual performance of a door damper was measured and compared with them.

  • A numerical model for predicting the performance of gas distrubutor type double inlet pulse tube refrigerators has been developed. The model was based on adiabatic analysis and the losses of heat exchangers and regenerator were considered. Thermodynamic behavior of working fluid within a double inlet pulse tube refrigerator was investigated and the effects of design parameters, such as valve and orifice openings, cold heat exchanger temperature, frequency and pulse tube length, on the cooling capacity and COP were shown.

과도상태의 압력데이터로부터 평형상태 압력 예측방법 연구 (A Study on the Method of Equilibrium-Pressure Prediction from Transient Data)

  • 본 논문은 과도상태의 압력데이터로부터 평형상태의 압력을 예측하는 방법을 제시하고 있다. 압력을 측정하는 곳과 압력센서는 튜브로 연결되어져 있다. 측정하고자하는 압력 (측정압력)이 높은 경우에는 압력센서가 빠른 시간 내에 측정압력에 반응을 한다. 그러나 매우 낮은 압력을 측정하는 경우에는 압력센서가 실시간으로 측정압력에 반응을 하지 못하여 압력지연현상이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 압력지연현상을 파악하고자 여러 가지 실험이 수행되었다. 본 연구의 제시된 평형압력예측방법은 낮은 압력을 측정함에 있어서 측정시간을 단축시킬 수 있다.

A guide tube is extended from the reactor core to the top of the reactor chimney for easily loading the target under a normal operation of the reactor. But active coolant through the core can be quickly raised up to the top of the chimney through the guide tube. The jet flow was suppressed in the guide tube after reducing the inner diameter of a flow restriction orifice installed in the OR-5 flow tube for adding the pressure difference in the flow tube. This paper describes an analytical analysis to calculate the flow distribution in the core of HANARO after suppressing the jet flow of the guide tube. As results, it was confirmed through the analysis results that the flow distribution in the core of HANARO were not adversely affected.
