A Simple Method for the Monitoring of Photo-induced Alignment of the Azobenzene Molecules in a Poly(malonic ester)

  • A simple method for real-time monitoring the molecular orientation in a polymeric film was suggested. This method was examined in the polarization holograms by two recording beams on a poly(malonic ester) containing disperse red 1. The spatial distributions of the photo-induced alignment were measured and analyzed at various polarization states of two recording beams. As the result, the directions of molecular alignments could be identified easily by our method.

  • 본 논문은 에지 특징을 이용한 얼라인 시스템을 제안한다. 얼라인 시스템은 PCB나 LCD 패널 등에 새겨진 기준 마크(fiducial mark)를 통하여 위치 정보를 획득한다. 그러므로 획득한 영상에서 정확하게 기준 마크를 찾는 것이 얼라인 시스템 성능의 지표가 된다. 에지 특성은 위치, 길이, 형태 등의 기하학적 특징을 지니며 이런 특징은 기준 마크를 찾기 위해 적절하고, 밝기의 변화, 크기 및 각도의 변화에 강한 특성을 지닌다. X, Y 축 이동 및 회전 할 수 있는 장비와 소프트웨어을 이용한 얼라인먼트 실험을 통하여 제안한 시스템의 성능을 검증하였다.

Probing the Molecular Orientation of ZnPc on AZO Using Soft X-ray Spectroscopies for Organic Photovoltaic Applications

  • The interfacial electronic structure between zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) and aluminumdoped zinc oxide (AZO) substrates has been evaluated by ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy and angle-dependent x-ray absorption spectroscopy to understanding the molecular orientation of a ZnPc layer on the performance of small molecule organic photovoltaics (OPVs). We find that the ZnPc tilt angle improves the ${\pi}-{\pi}$ interaction on the AZO substrate, thus leading to an improved short-circuit current in OPVs based on phthalocyanine. Furthermore, the molecular orientation-dependent energy level alignment has been analyzed in detail using ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy. We also obtained complete energy level diagrams of ZnPc/AZO and ZnPc/indium thin oxide.

  • Purpose: We explore to find out and analyze the direct influence of Millennial Orientation on Goals Mediated by work engagement and satisfaction. And, interaction cannot be a direct relationship between research variables. Method: The implementation uses the survey method. This research was conducted at PT. East Kalimantan fertilizer operated in Bontang, East Kalimantan. The population in this study were all employees of PT. East Kalimantan fertilizers operated in Bontang, as many as N = 500 people. The sampling technique used is proportional stratified random sampling. Findings: Millennial orientation influences engagement, job satisfaction and intention to leave, direct engagement has a significant effect on job satisfaction and intention to leave, and job satisfaction is directly related to intention to leave. Originality: Alignment between millennial goals in encouraging job satisfaction and employee engagement, so that it can have an impact on the intention to leave employees, especially at PT. Pupuk. Kaltim. Also, direct millennials as decreasing intention to leave.

Automatic Control Point Measurement and Photo Orientation via Matching with Control Patch

  • In this study, we employ the control patches, which have been created in previous photogrammetric projects, serving for the candidates of the control points that are likely to be found in the newly taken photos by utilizing image matching technique. Among others, the successful implementation of the above idea lies in the underlying factors: (1). Predicting the control patches and projecting them onto new photos; (2). Alignment of control patches with respect to the new photos; (3). Generating the equivalent ground elements of control patches versus the new photos for the purpose of correlation; (4). Developing effective matching methods and matching strategy; (5). Refining the exterior orientation parameters. What may show significance in this work comparing to traditional aerial-triangulation chain is that whenever at least three matched control patches succeed in a single photo, it follows that single photo orientation is applicable. The experiments suggest the potential efficiency of automatic control point measurement from control patch database and photo orientation by the proposed workflow.

일축 연신 조건에 따른 Poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate) 배향에 관한 연구 (Effect of Uniaxial Drawing Conditions on the Orientation of Poly (ethylene 2,6- naphthalate))

  • 연신온도, 연신속도, 연신비 등 연신 조건에 따른 poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate) (PEN)의 배향상태 변화를 살펴보았다. 연신온도가 낮을수록 연신속도가 빠를수록 연신비에 따라 큰 복굴절 값을 보이며 FT-IR ATR dichroism 방법으로 구한 배향 특성도 복굴절의 실험결과를 뒷받침하였다. PEN을 $120^{\circ}C$에서 연신하면 무정형사슬 배향함수 ($f_a$)가 연신속도가 빠를수록 높은 값을 갖지만 $141^{\circ}C$에서 연신하면 반대로 연신속도가 빠를수록 낮은 값을 갖게 된다. 이러한 경향은 결정화 속도와 사슬 이완속도와의 관계로부터 설명이 가능하다. X-선 회절 실험 결과로부터 PEN의 naphthalene ring 구조가 필름표면에 평행하게 배열됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

Circumferential Alignment of Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells in a Cylindrical Microchannel

  • We report the circumferential alignment of human aortic smooth muscle cells (HASMCs) in an orthogonally micropatterned circular microfluidic channel to form an in vivo-like smooth muscle cell layer. To realize a biomimetic smooth muscle cell layer which is aligned perpendicular to the axis of blood vessel, we first fabricated a half-circular polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microchannel by soft lithography using a convex PDMS mold. The orthogonally micro wrinkle patterns were generated inside the half-circular microchannel by stretching-releasing operation under UV irradiation. Upon UV treatment with uniaxial 40 % stretch of a PDMS substrate and releasing process, the microwrinkle patterns perpendicular to the axial direction of the circular microchannel were generated, which could guide the circumferential alignment of HASMCs successfully during cultivation. The analysis of orientation angle, shape index, and contractile protein marker expression indicates that the cultured HASMCs revealed the in vivo-like cell phenotype. Finally, we produced circular microchannels by bonding two half-circular microchannels, and cultured the HASMCs circumferentially with high alignment and viability for 5 days. These results are the first demonstration for constructing an in vivo-like 3D smooth muscle cell layer in the circular microfluidic channel which can provide novel bioassay platforms for in-depth study of HASMC biology and vascular function.

폴리애미드 배향막의 편광 자외선 조사에 따른 액정 배향 메카니즘 (Mechanism of Orientation of Liquid Crystal Molecules for Polarized UV-exposed Polyimide Alignment Layers)

  • 편광 푸리에 변환 적외선 분광법과 자외선 분광법을 이용하여 액정 display (LCD)의 배향막으로 널리 사용되는 폴리이미드 (PI) 필름의 편광 자외선 (PUV) 조사에 따른 액정의 배향 메카니즘을 연구하였다. UV 측정 결과, PI 필름은 360 nm 이하 파장의 자외선을 주로 흡수하여 광화학 반응이 유도됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한, PUV가 조사된 PI의 경우, PI 분자들의 분해로 인해 FT-IR 흡수 피크들의 강도가 조사시간에 따라 감소하였고, $3244 cm^{-1}$ 부근에서 완만한 곡선 형태의 새로운 피크가 형성되었다. 또한 조사된 PUV의 극성 방향에 평행한 PI 분자들의 우선적인 광분해 반응으로 인하여 PUV 조사 후 남아 있는 PI 분자들은 조사된 PUV 극성 방향과 수직 배향을 나타내었다. 하지만 러빙 처리된 PI 필름은 러빙 방향과 평행하게 PI 분자들의 재배향이 유도됨을 확인하였다. 또한 러빙 처리 및 PUV가 조사된 PI 배향막을 차용하여 제조된 액정 셀에서는 액정이 러빙 방향에 대해서는 평행하게, 조사된 PUV의 극성방향과는 수직으로 배향함을 확인하였다.

  • Injection time of liquid crystal (LC) by capillary action in a vertically aligned (VA) nematic LC cell takes longer than that in a homogeneously aligned (HA) LC cell because Miesowicz viscosity in the former is bigger than that in the latter. To reduce liquid crystal injection time in the VA cell, we applied vertical electric field while injecting so that the orientation of LC molecules is changed from vertical alignment to homogeneous alignment. Consequently, the injection speed is improved by 25 % when compared with the cell without an applied field.

  • Liquid crystal alignments on a rubbed polyimide layer were investigated by using optical transmission method. Using this technique, we also studied the pretilt angle of the polymer molecules near the surface of a side-chain polymer layer as a function of the rubbing strength. In particular, we obtained the optical characteristics of liquid crystal orientations and pretilt angles for LC cell photo-aligned by UV as well after rubbing alignment. High pretilt angle of 3.84 degree was obtained on the weekly rubbed polymide layer duribg UV irradation time of 60min.
