The results of this study were as follow: First, the subjects' general characteristics including job, monthly mean income and age made statistical differences to their pathological characteristics such as part of primary paralysis, detailed name of disease and cause of elicitation. Second, their general characteristics including religion and job produce statistical difference to their actual use of medical service, like medical institution form, term of treatment and type of medical institution at first-aid. Third, through the awareness of cooperative treatment system, the effect of C.V.A treatment and the shorten of the C.V.A treatment term were higher at oriental medical department inpatients and cooperative treatment serviced inpatients than western medical department inpatients and cooperative treatment non-serviced inpatients. Fourth, the biggest problem on current dual medical system is increase medical expenses and the biggest reason on not vitalized cooperative service is prejudice of both parts.

Methods : During the patient with OPLL was treated CHUNA manual therapy, acupuncture, and physical therapy, we examined cervical X-ray, CT and Moire topography and evaluated the patient's symptoms by VAS. And we observed whether the changes exist or not in X-ray and VAS. Results : VAS in symptoms was improved significantly(p<0.05), and the radiologic X-ray image in OPLL patient was improved. Conclusion : OPLL was generally treated conservative treatment and operation in severe case. But CHUNA manual therapy may be more effective in conservative treatment of OPLL, if more clinical studies and reaches are accomplished.

We divide the pain into four parts and then we checked the intensities of them comparing with those of the first treatment. The pain worsened by psychic factor was decreased after treatment. Especially, after hypnosis, the intensity of the pain is highly changed. Psychotherapy in oriental medicine can be helpful to treat patients who have psychic and physical disorders.

  • This study was performed to figure out effects of stroke rehabilitation on education using isokinetic exercise on physical function recovery. It is considered isokinetic exercise will playa primary role in muscle strength, ROM of joint, and body balance recovery for stroke rehabilitation and so far can be used as a basic references to increase the health of all people. The study consisted of 42 stroke patient(21 training group, 21 control group) diagnosed as cerebral hemorrhage from Oriental Rehabilitation Department of Kyung Hee University. Upper extremity and lower extremity exercise was performed in the training group using isokinetic ergometer. The recovery of physical function(muscle strength, ROM of joint, body balance) data between the two groups were compared and ana lysed by paired t-test are as followed. 1. Muscle testing record showed increased in the strength of elbow flexion, knee flexion, knee extension, ankle extension of the training group com paired to control group(p < .05). In the measurement of ROM, however other parts of the body motion showed no significant changes, only shoulder extension of the training group was increased(p < .05). 2. Body balance increase was highly significant in all training group compaired to control group(p<001). Based on these findings, stroke rehabilitation education with isokinetic ergometer showed available effects on recovery of physical function rehabilitation program with isokinetic exercise will play a primary role in the recovery of physical function of stroke or brain injury patients as well as to promote the health of all people.

Power grip was enhanced in needle TENS and taping groups(p<.05) but ultrasound was no difference compared with before therapy. 3. Compared with needle TENS and taping therapy about pain release was needle TENS groups better than ultrasound groups(p<.05) Conclusion : Needle TENS, taping therapy are more effectable than ultrasound therapy for grip power and pain release. Needle TENS therapy is more effectable than taping therapy for pain release. Therefor, neddle TENS therapy is most effectable for pain release with carpal tunnel syndrome patients.

  • Objective : Blepharoptosis is drooping of eyelid which causes impairment of visual field by covering partially or completely, and it is classified into congenital ptosis and acquired one. In western medicine, idiopathic blepharoptosis is usually treated by tarsectomy. Contrary to that concept, we consider eyelid is assigned to Yookryoon(肉輪) among Ohryoon(五輪) which matches to spleen. In oriental medicine, it can be treated by promoting spleen and kidney. Here I report two cases of idiopathic blepharoptosis improved by conservative acupuncture therapy and herb medicine. Methods : The changes in clinical symptoms of general body weakness, anorexia, dizziness, dry eye, etc, in degree of eyelid drooping and in individual expression were described as they were treated with acupuncture therapy, herb medicine, Bojoong-ikgi-tang(補中益氣湯) and some physical therapy including Negative, I.C.T, S.S.P and Carbon. Results : Symptoms(ex) general body weakness, anorexia, dizziness, dry eye, etc) at admission improved and disappeared gradually with acupuncture therapy and herb medicine. The patients could discharge with favorable recovery. Conclusions : In oriental medicine, blepharoptosis is mainly treated by promoting Qihyul(氣血) and enhancing flow of that. If the patient has deficiency of Suhnchun-poomboo(先天稟褓賦) and Mungmoon-hwa(命門火), he is treated by promoting Shin-yang(腎陽). If he is weak in Bee-qi(脾氣), he needs to be treated by strengthening Bee-yang(脾陽) where patient with lack of Ganhyul(肝血) is supposed to be treated by promoting Hyul(血). These following two cases were managed by acupuncture, herb medicine and physical therapy on idiopathic blepharoptosis.

Methods: Among the patients with shoulder pain, We selected 3 patients diagnosed as shoulder impingement syndrome by physical examination and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). After Chuna treatment and burning acupuncture therapy, we evaluated the effectiveness by measuring range of movement(ROM) and checking The Shoulder Pain And Disability Index(SPADI) every three times the patients called at the clinic for three weeks. Results: The symptoms of the patients got improved relatively in short period considering shoulder impingement syndrome belongs to chronic diseases and steps chronical procedure in recovering. Conclusions: These cases showed Chuna treatment and burning acupuncture therapy could be applied on shoulder impingement syndrome and were effective for improving the symptoms. We suggest that further studies and clinical trials will be needed afterwards.
