  • Effectiveness is a major concern in organizations of all sorts. Library researchers have been particularly active recently in trying to define, measure, and promote library effectiveness. The purpose of this study is to place library effectiveness in the context of theoretical and empirical work on organizational effectiveness. Four major approaches to organizational effectiveness can be identified. The goal model defines an effective organizations as one that meets its goals. The system resource model emphasizes the organization's need to acquire resources from its environment. The process model sees organizations as social systems seeking to survive and maintain their equilibrium. The multiple constituencies defines effectiveness as the degree to which the needs and expectations of strategic constituencies are met. These models are not necessarily contradictory but may be seen as emphasizing different aspects of organizational performance or values. This study also reports four findings of the library effectiveness. They are significant as the empirical investigation into the dimensions of the construct of library effectiveness. The result shows that organizational effectiveness of libraries is, indeed, a multidimensional construct, implying that no single measure of effectiveness is sufficient to describe an organization.

In conclusion, leadership, organizational commitment, and job performance were significantly different according to the occupation(p<0.05), age(p<0.05), and working period(p<0.05), and individual care(p<0.001) and conditional reward(p<0.001) showed a high causal relationship with the organizational commitment and job performance. In the future, leadership that can take care of the individual characteristics of the members of the organization and ability to demonstrate their competence will be needed, and it will be necessary to establish a reasonable compensation system after measuring the degree of achievement of work. • The purpose of this study is to identify a suitable organizational diagnostic model for analyzing the management efficiency of food service firms. We used the three-iteration Delphi technique on a panel of 19 business employees, 7 industry experts, and 4 employees in the food service industry. A total of 36 assessment indicators were developed through this panel, with numerous major findings. First, it is important to evaluate the leadership qualities of employees in terms of their motivation and competency. Second, it is important to evaluate the ability of employees to interface well with other employees. Third, it is important to evaluate and manage the brand image recognized by customers. Fourth, it is important to evaluate the fairness and regularity of the rewards given for an excellent job performance. Fifth, it is important to evaluate the level of communication and information distribution in the organizational culture. Last, but not least, it is important to evaluate the transparency and fairness of an organization in its human resource management (HRM) and the efficiency of its organizational structure. In conclusion, this study empirically shows how food service firms can develop an organizational diagnostic model to increase their managerial efficiency.

  • In order to explore a relationship among KM context, KM effects, and sustainability of competitive advantage of organizations, a contingency model of KM, which is based on resource-based as well as knowledge-based theory, is developed from the information systems and strategic management literature. To put it concretely, our motivation for this paper was to answer the following questions: (1) What factors affect the degree to which an organization achieves KM effects? (2) Is there a positive relationship between KM effects and organizational performance achieved by linking KM to competitive advantage? A detailed exploratory analysis of survey responses from 79 Korean companies provides the following significant findings: (1) This study found support for the proposed research model. (2) The organization's degree of process and organizational outcomes of KM effects is determined by technical and social resources and its capabilities. Furthermore, the influence of technical and social resources of KM context on process and organizational outcomes of KM effects is controlled by different types of organizational perspectives on KM. (3) There is a relationship between process and organizational outcomes of KM effects and organizational performance enhanced by linking KM to competitive advantage.
