In this study, various conflicts in the maritime police organization were diagnosed and police subculture, which is different from dominant mainstream maritime police culture, was concluded to cause conflicts. In addition, maritime police conflicts and conflicts due to the balance, confrontation, and contradiction between bureaucratic and democratic values in the maritime police organization itself are discussed. The results of analysis on the effects of Maritime police subculture on organizational conflict are as follows: First, the influence of cynicism on functional conflict was explored. The higher the level of lies of the persons under investigation, the more functional conflict appeared. Also, if a person showed a low level of credibility among the police, this also led to functional conflict. In addition, if an individual showed low levels of cooperation and credibility with the police, this resulted in hierarchical conflict. Second, the influence of machismo on functional conflict was also explored. It was found that female officers experienced conflicts because of poorer job performance compared to male counterparts. In hierarchical issues, female officers experienced conflict over the reduced scope of tasks assigned to them and lower job performance ability. Third, the effect of non-acceptance of change in functional conflict was not statistically significant. An aggressive attitude toward crime control and rejecting jobs unrelated to crime influenced functional conflict, and an aggressive attitude and performing jobs unrelated to crime lead to functional conflict.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship among self-efficacy, nursing organizational culture and the emotional labor in clinical nurses. Methods: The subjects of this study were the clinical nurses working at 3 general hospitals in D city. The self-reported questionnaires were administered to 293 clinical nurses and data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 19.0. Results: The levels of self-efficacy, nursing organizational culture and emotional labor of the subjects were revealed moderate to high. Significant explanatory variables of the degrees of self-efficacy included age, career of work and job satisfaction and nursing organizational culture included position, nursing method and job satisfaction and emotional labor included education, number of patient and job satisfaction. Correlations between self-efficacy and emotional labor and nursing organizational culture and emotional labor were negative while self-efficacy and nursing organizational culture were positive. Conclusion: The findings suggested the intervention program in order to improve job performance and job satisfaction, develop effective nursing organizational culture and reduce role conflicts among clinical nurses.
Government intervention, industry cooperation, new vendors, and foreign competition are all factors that exert a powerful influence on the information technology, marketplace, and on the individual IS organization. When these influences need to change an organization, it is likely the culture or identity of the organization will be targeted for change. Because an organization is also composed of cognitive frameworks, there is an implication that the existing cognitive structures are in jeopardy. Thus, the cognitive component is important in how all members of organizations react and respond to change. This paper defines cognitive process and its related research history, introduces organizational change matters, tries to solve conflicts in organizational changes, and applies this topic to the information systems field.

The paper tests the above socio-cognitive model with four empirical case studies of leading Korean science and technology research and technology transfer organizations. The case studies demonstrate clear differences in individuals' frames about the technology transfer process and arising conflicts. As a result, technology transfer process is not fully controllable and is highly contextual. We argue, whereas public policy in countries approaching technology frontier provides essential support for defining and exploiting best practices (routines/pathways) for technology transfer at organizational level, they have not matured enough to support the timely identification and resolution of conflicts between individual actors, hence the inefficiencies. Therefore, among others, public policy for technology transfer could consider allowing an inclusive approach to recognition of best practices for technology transfer and innovation processes, increased social interactions between technology transfer actors, and their training on resolution of individual level cognitive conflicts.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between calling, clinical performance, role conflict, and organizational socialization and to evaluate the factors associated with organizational socialization of new nurses. Methods: This study design was cross-sectional correlational study. The participants of this study were new nurses 171 at general hospitals in Jeollabuk-do. Data was collected between August 1 to 20, 2018 from questionnaire responses and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The average calling rating was 2.47±0.59 (rated on a scale of 1~4), clinical performance rating was 3.55±0.52 (rated on a scale of 1~5), role conflict rating was 3.29±0.59 (rated on a scale of 1~5), and organizational socialization rating 3.19±0.41 (rated on a scale of 1~5). Calling, clinical performance, role conflict, gender, and work in the desired unit were the significant factors influencing organizational socialization of new nurses. Conclusion: These findings indicate that strategies are needed to improve organizational socialization of new nurses to ensure effective management of personnel. Moreover, it is necessary to develop a program to cultivate the nursing calling, enhance clinical performance, and resolve role conflicts among new nurses.
This research emphasized that the importance of work-family conflict elements such as time-based conflict, strain-based conflict, behavior-based conflict and verify the effects of these three elements on organizational commitment through the moderating effects of Job autonomy. The research results are as follows. First, behavioral-based conflict, a element of work-family conflict, was found to have a negative effect on organizational commitment, but time-based conflict and strain-based conflict were verified to have no effect. Second, strain-based conflict and behavior-based conflict, which are elements of family-work conflict, were found to have a negative effect on organizational commitment, but time-based conflict was verified to have no effect. Third, job autonomy had a moderating effect in the relationship between behavior-based conflict and organizational commitment. Fourth, as a result of verifying the moderating effects of job autonomy in the relationship between family-work conflict and organizational commitment, it was found that job autonomy had moderating effects in the relationship between strain-based conflict, behavior-based conflict and organizational commitment.
Little empirical study has been conducted concerning social worker' empowerment that has very important function on clients' empowerment. Using the sample of 222 social workers selected from 92 community welfare centers, this study attempted to identify social workers' empowerment level and its predictors. This study used the empowerment scale developed by Leslie, Holzhalb, Holland (1998) that focuses on measurement of social workers's empowerment in social work agencies. Using confirmatory factor analysis, it was confirmed that the scale has three factors such as control of work environment, work relationships, and personal work orientation. This study showed that using 5 points scale, mean of social workers' empowerment is 3.67. In identifying predictors of the empowerment, this study used variables from the following aspects: organizational characteristics, job characteristics, and individual characteristics. Using regression analysis, it was found that variables related to job characteristics such as role ambiguities, role conflicts, and skill varieties are statistically very significant predictors of social workers' empowerment. Self-esteem in personal characteristics and participation in decision making and transformational leadership in organizational characteristics are also statistically significant predictors of social workers' empowerment. This study also revealed that self-control and self-esteem variables function as moderator in the relation with variables such as role ambiguities and role conflicts. Finally, this study discussed the direction of future research in social workers' empowerment and the areas that management efforts should be focused on for promoting social workers' empowerment.
This study examined the case of women's conflict experience in small and medium size enterprises. Although the number of women working in business organizations is rapidly growing in Korea, discourse about them is still scarce. Some discourse about them focuses only on the productivity and inequality aspects within the organizations. Therefore, we need to examine their organizational lives through a more dynamic and performance based perspective. Especially, because conflicts experience by women within business organizations involve a variety of organizational interactions, they reveal the vivid reality with which working women face today. The existing conflict research studies focused on communication or interpersonal relationship are limited by the fact that they have primarily dealt with the variables such as conflict management styles. However, conflict research needs a more specific and wholistic interpretation because conflicts usually depend on their contexts and interaction dynamics. Therefore, the phenomenological methodology was employed as a more appropriate method for the current conflict study. Results shows that the two themes were identified regarding the conflict content. The first and second themes were the unfair situations and the hierarchical rank respectively. The three themes were identified regarding the attitudes about conflicts. They were the passive stance toward conflicts, the recognition of the gender difference, and the acknowledgement of the importance of the relational aspect respectively. Finally, three more themes were identified regarding the conflict management styles. The first, second and third themes were the passive responding, the aggressive responding and the positive conflict management respectively. In addition, the implications of the results and the suggestions for future studies were made.
The study started with the perception that there would be numerous conflicts within and outside the organization as a national and public cultural and artistic organization. In addition, the conflict acts as a negative problem factor for the members of the organization, and the resulting emotions were identified to determine what relationship. Specifically, 1) identify ingesting the conflict factors recognized by the members of the art corps (organizations) of incumbent national and public cultural and artistic organizations (organizations), and 2) how conflicts provide influence to the art corps as a negative problem factor, 3) the feelings of conflict (exhaustion, turnover intent, job dissatisfaction, negative transition) are intended to look at the relationship. To summarize the findings, it is as follows: The conflict struck by the members of the arts corps of national and public cultural and artistic organizations could consist of 1) organizational conflicts (management, administration, operations, etc.) and 2) personal conflicts (artistic preferences, colleagues, etc.). This conflict has been found to provide anegative direction to the feelings of members of the organization. Both organizational conflict and personal emotions were found to have an effect on emotional exhaustion, and emotional exhaustion was found to affect the intention of turnover and job dissatisfaction. In addition, job dissatisfaction was examined to have an effect of the static (+) on the turnover intent, the turnover intent and job dissatisfaction has an effect of the political (+) on the negative transfer. Based on these results, the authors of this study presented effective implications for cultural and artistic marketing.
This study relates to the problems of organizational performance in the Christian hospitals. In this study, quality of working life (QOWL), which harmonizes individual as well as organizational goals, was used as an indicator of organizational performance from the open systems view. In order to identify the behavioral factors influencing QOWL in hospitals, self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 1,926 employees who were randomly selected from fifteen Christian hospitals from August 1 to August 30, 1986. The following results were obtained: 1) All correlation coefficients between QOWL and behavioral variables were statistically significant even though their magnitude varied according to hospital size. 2) Using factor analysis, 32 variables were parsimoniously grouped into four factors: individual conflicts, group behavior, organizational characteristics and situation, and job characteristics. The proportion of variance explained by these factors ranged from 33.5% to 38.6% according to hospital size. 3) The overall effects of the four factors in the multiple logistic models ranged from 0.85 to 3.12 according to hospital size. Among three hospital models, the model for small hospitals showed the best statistical fit. 4) The most influential factor was organizational characteristics and situation with an odds ratio ranging from 1.99 to 3.02. Again, the odds ratio was the highest for small hospitals. 5) For large hospitals, the two main factor effects were statistically significant: organizational characteristics and situation, and job characteristics. For medium hospitals, all main factor effects except job characteristics were statistically significant. For small hospitals, all main factor effects except group behavior were statistically significant. However, a factor interaction effect was shown only for large hospitals where it was statistically significant. 6) To examine whether the four factors influence financial performance, the four factor scores from the two financial performance groups were compared using Mann-Whitney test. The test results showed that the organizational characteristics and situation factor score was significantly different only for small hospitals.
