Business Process Change Design from Decision Model Perspective

  • Various organizational factors effect successful implementation of IT enabled business transformation. Among them, the most critical success factor is deemed to overcoming change management problem. Lots of studies have been made on implementation methodologies and business process formalizations to encourage organizational members to accept new business process changes. However, the logic of process redesign still depends on qualitative problem solving techniques mostly depending on basically human intuition such as brainstorming, cause-and-effect analysis, and so on. In this paper, we develop algorithmic procedure applicable to designing various business process changes such as process automation, business process resequencing, and more radical process integration. The framework is employed from dynamic programming approach in the literature, which is based on the decision making paradigm of organizations to abstract business processes as quantitative decision models. As such, our research can fill the gap of limited development of theory based analytic methodologies for business process design, by providing objective rationale to reach the consensus among the organizational members including senior management.

  • Effective communication flow is a fundamental for the success of any construction projects. The key role of communications among project parties is even more critical in the case of Design-Build (DB) projects. Previous research has shown that these projects have an environment where integration between different project team members and schedule constraints increase channels of communication, and require faster communication flows. This paper summarizes the findings from research analyzing organizational structures and communication flow of the Texas State Highway 130 (SH130) project. Awarded in 2002, the SH130 project, totaling $1.3 billion USD, constitutes the "pilot" application for the DB approach in the state of Texas. A set of observations pertaining to team organization and communication issues in the design-build environment is included.

  • 시스템 통합의 포괄적인 의미로는 사용자요구를 만족시키고, 사업의 성공을 위해 하드웨어, 소프트웨어, 네트워크, 시스템개발, 유지보수, 교육, 인력 등을 자기 책임하에 조달 확보하여 제공하는 것이다. 그러나 아직 이에 대한 기본개념이 정립되지 있지 않고 추진절차에 따른 모델링작업이 되어 있지 않다. 본고에서는 첫째, SI에 대한 기본개념을 실무중심으로 정립하고 둘째, SI추진절차를 최신기법의 대형 프로젝트를 중심으로 모델링화 작업을 하였다. 이러한 추진방법론을 바탕으로 일반 SI사업뿐만 아니라 GIS사업추진시에 단독으로 시스템을 구축하기보다는 조직의 SI 사업의 일환으로 조직전략과 IT기술을 연계하여 시스템을 구축함으로서 국가 및 산업경쟁력을 높일 수 있을 것이다.

종합병원 구성원들의 의사소통 만족도가 조직유효성 인식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Communication Satisfaction on Hospital Employees' Perceived Organizational Effectiveness)

  • 이 연구는 우리나라 종합병원에 근무하는 직원들의 의사소통에 대한 만족도와 조직유효성 인식과의 관계를 실증적으로 조사하기 위한 것이다. 이와 같은 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 4개의 연구가설을 설정하였으며, 가설검증을 위해 전국 10개 병원에 근무하는 의사, 진료지원직, 행정직 직원 473명에 대한 설문조사를 2013년 1월 3일부터 2월 8일까지 실시했다. 단계적 회귀분석 결과, 병원 직원들의 의사소통에 대한 만족도는 조직유효성에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 의사소통 만족도와 직종 간의 상호작용 효과는 조직유효성 중 안정성보다는 성장성에 더 크게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 직종별 의사소통 만족도조사에서는 진료지원직종이 5점 만점에 3.11점으로 가장 낮아 문제점으로 지적되었다. 병원이 조직의 통합을 원한다면 직종 간 의사소통 만족도를 높이기 위한 세부적인 전략 개발이 필요하다고 하겠다.

ICT 기업의 조직문화가 조직구성원 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Effect of Organizational Culture on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment In ICT Enterprises)

  • 기업 고유의 조직문화는 조직구성원의 직무관련 행동을 통하여 직무만족을 가져오게 만들며, 조직에 더 충성하려는 조직몰입을 증가시키는 역할로 작용하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 ICT 기업들을 대상으로 조직문화유형에 따른 조직구성원의 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하는데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 한국직업능력개발원의 제6차 인적자본기업패널 자료를 활용하여 ICT 기업의 조직문화가 조직구성원의 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 선행연구들을 바탕으로 실증분석을 위한 가설의 설정과 검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 실증분석 결과는 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, ICT 기업의 조직문화가 조직구성원의 직무만족에 미치는 영향에 있어서는 조직문화유형 중 관계문화, 합리문화, 혁신문화, 위계문화가 조직구성원의 직무만족에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 조직문화가 조직몰입에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 합리문화, 관계문화, 혁신문화는 조직몰입에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 위계문화는 조직몰입에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. ICT 기업의 조직문화유형 중 관계문화가 조직구성원의 직무만족과 조직몰입에 높은 영향력을 나타내었다. 마지막으로 ICT 기업의 조직구성들의 직무만족은 조직몰입에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 직무만족이 높은 조직구성원은 조직몰입에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 ICT 기업의 성과제고를 위하여 조직구성원들간의 긍정적인 작업환경의 조성과 정보공유를 통한 협력이 중요함을 제시하고 있다.

The Information System Management and Its Infrastructure for Supply Chain Management as Antecedents of Financial Performance

  • A model is presented in this paper to provide understanding of the supply chain integration and supply chain information practices' impact on the manufacturing industries. The supply chain information practices play a crucial role in sharing information between the members of SC network. Thus, it is important to develop a comprehensive understanding of the differences and similarities among ISI and information management. It will allow firms to systematically evaluate and carefully choose the information strategy. The empirical findings of this research offer essential and interesting insights about what role SCI, supply chain information and Supply chain ISI play in determining Malaysia's financial performance. The theoretical gaps addressed in this study are of significant importance, since a little empirical evidence is available regarding system infrastructure and supply chain information management's effectiveness. This research provides further paths of exploring system infrastructure and information management, thereby defining the manufacturing industries' next step in SCM struggle i.e. modifying total integrated SC principle in other manufacturing firms. The Resource-based theory discovered organizational resources as an essential organizational success ingredient. Therefore, in order to recognize its potential value, internal resources, for instance, information system and management must be fully utilized.

EDI 구축 성공에 영향을 미치는 파트너십과 EDI 수용태도 (Partnership and EDI Adoption Attitude affecting on EDI Implementation Success)

  • The fact that EDI is the IT system between partners implies the importance of studying the affecting factors associated with partnership in EDI. But there are few researches about the inter-organizational factors related to the relationship between partner firms, so called partnerships, influencing the implementation of EDI. Therefore our research is to investigate the relationship between partnership and EDI implementation with inter-organizational perspective. Additionally, we investigate the moderating role of EDI adoption attitude when the companies are divided into two groups, proactive attitude and reactive attitude. As a result, first, we found the positive relationships between the partnership factors about partnerships among trading partners and the degree of EDI implementation. Second, we expected that proactive firms have stronger significant relationships than reactive firms, but only the relationships between interdependence and integration, interdependence and utilization and trust and integration were proved to be signigicant among ten relationships. Third, we found positive relationships between EDI adoption attitude and EDI implementation.

제조기업의 환경혁신에 대한 원인요인과 촉진요인 (The Influence Factors on the Activation of Environmental Innovations in Manufacturing Firms)

  • This research empirically investigated the influence factors on the activation of environmental innovations (EI) in Korean manufacturing firms. In this study, external factors (compulsory demand, government regulation, normative pressure and imitative pressure) and internal factors (environmental resources, top management support, integration of environmental tasks, capabilities of environmental personnel, and environmental strategy/environmental management systems) were totally considered. The results of a multiple regression analysis showed that influence factors such as top management support, environmental resources and integration of environmental tasks have a significant and positive impact on levels of EI. However, the effects of external factors were not statistically significant. We also examined whether capabilities of environmental personnel as well as environmental resources, which are directly related with degrees of EI, have a moderating impact on relationships between other internal factors and levels of EI. With a subgroup analysis, the moderating role of abilities of environmental personnel were empirically confirmed. Through a multiple regression analysis, the direct effects of external factors on the adoption or construction of internal factors were demonstrated. The effects of government regulation, normative pressure and imitative pressure on internal factors were significant and positive. It was also found that external factors have indirect effects on EI through internal factors. Finally, the results of multiple regression analyses indicated that EI positively influences the achievement of environmental competitive benefits, and environmental competitive advantages can improve the organizational performance of a firm.

  • 신제품개발의 성공에 중요한 마케팅정보의 활용에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 변수는 마케팅정보의 질이다. 그리고 담당자간 관계와 상호작용은 마케팅정보의 활용에 간접적인 영향을 미친다. 대인적 특징과 관계 그리고 상호작용은 마케팅정보의 질에 정의 영향을 직접적으로 미치나 조직분위기와 통합은 간접적으로 정의 영향을 미친다. 따라서 연구개발담당자의 마케팅정보 활용을 촉진시키기 위해서는 최고경영자의 조직분위기 조성과 조직설계 노력이 요구된다. 아울러 연구개발 담당자와 마케팅 담당자의 상호이해에 기반을 둔 공동노력이 요구된다.

병원전문화 전략유형의 적합성과 조직성과 분석 (The Fitness and Organizational performance Analysis of Hospital Specialization Strategy Types)

  • This research classified hospital specialization strategy types through cluster analysis, analyzed fitness of hospital specialization strategy types for external environment or organizational structure, and examined relation between hospital specialization strategy types and organizational performance. This research surveyed 1,437 hospitals which have more than 30 patient's bed and practice national health service in Korea. Specifically, this research divided into two part : external fit - analysis of relation between external environment and specialization strategy, internal fit-analysis of relation between organizational structure factors and specialization strategy. also, as the organizational performance for achieving specialization strategic purpose, not only the productivity, efficiency, profit but also the medical quality was considered. In case of external fit, many hospitals chose integration type if there are a lot of competitive hospitals and regional population. Particularly, if there are many competitive hospitals, concentration type is chosen. In contrast, if there are many doctors in the region, differentiation type is chosen. In case of internal fit, according to organization type and patient's bed number, hospitals chose different types. If it is a general hospital and has a few bed number, generalization or concentration type is chosen. Tertiary hospital or the hospital with many patient's bed chose differentiation type. According to the number of specialists, if there are a few specialists, generalization or concentration type is chosen. If there are many specialists, differentiation type has high fitness for the hospital. In relation to strategy types and organizational performance, differentiation type has best result. Differentiation type has a good result in 7 items out of 11.
