Most of methane gas result from waste matter in landfill, therefore the persons concerned take an increasing interest in management of gases in landfill. Infrared Gas Analyzer was used to measure components of gases, $CH_4,$$CO_2,$$O_2,$ through gas exhausted pipe. To measure amount of the gas flow meter(Portable Hot-Line Current Meter) was used and it was set at right angles with direction of the flow. In this research the total amount of methane gas produced in Beck-Suk Landfill was calculated through FOD method suggested by IPCC. This research found that in Chon-An Beck-Suk Landfill anaerobic resolution was made actively and the amount of methane gas produced there was 54.14%, which is higher than common figure, 50%, in other researches. The components of reclaimed waste matter, especially, organic waste matter can have a great effect of the amount of the greenhouse gases produced in landfill. We can expect that the amount of greenhouse gas will decrease from 2005, when it will be prohibited from carrying kitchen refuse and sludge into landfill.
Water Pollution of Gwangju Stream was examined for four months from 22 March 1981 to 7 June, 1981. For checking the water pollution, 6 sampling positions were selected 5 from main stream. We assumed that the water pollution of Gwangju stream was due to the organic materials, which came from the domestic sewage. The apparatus for this test were pH meter (Orion model 301), Dissolved Oxygen & Temperature meter(Delta model 1010). The results we obtained are as follows: 1. The average range for mid-stream(sp. 3, 4) was 3. 10~2.73ppm of Dissolved Oxygen(DO), 80.23~102.95ppm of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), 195. 10~165.90ppm of Suspended Solid (SS), 6.6~6.7 of pH. 2. The plankton identification in this survey period showed Cyanophyceae is 4 genera 5 species, Bacillariophycea 11 genera 14 species, Chlorophyceae 8 genera 15 species and Zooplankton 6 genera 7 species: total 29 genera 41 species. 3. To appear dominant plankton in polluted water, there were Paramecium, Euglena and Oscillatoria. 4. The results of biological water analysis were as follows: st. 1 was B-mesosaprobic to oligosaprobic, but st. 4 and st. 5 at stream in the midtown area seemed to be polysaprobic.
OMC is essentialiy necessary compound in sun goods as organic UV protecting products. But the skin-trouble problem is raising because of skin penetration of OMC. In this study, non-capsulated pure OMC was compared with Organic-Inorganic-Nano-hybrid OMC for skin penetration force and SPF degree. Organic- Inorganic Nano-Hybrid OMC is OMC trapped in the pore of the mesoporous silica synthesized by the sol-gel method after OMC is nanoemulsified in the system of the hydrogenated Lecithin/ Ethanol/caprylic/capric triglyceride/OMC/water. OMC- nano- emulsion was obtained by a microfluidizing process at 1000bar and then micelle size in the nanoemulsion solution is 100-200nm range. Mesoporous silica nano-hybrid OMC was prepared by the process; surfactant was added in dissolved OMC-Nanoemulsion, then the rod Micelle was formed. OMC-nanoemulsion was capsulated in this rod Micelle and then silica precursor was added in the OMC-nanoemulsion solution. Through the hydrolysis reaction of the silica precursor, mesoporous silica concluding OMC-Nanocapsulation was obtained. The nano-hybrid surface of this OMC-Nanoemulsion-Inorganic system was treated with polyalkyl-silane compound. OMC-Mesoporous silica Nano-hybrids coated with polyalkyl-silane compound show the higher sun protecting factor (SPF Analyzer: INDEX 10-15) than pure OMC and could reduce a skin penetration of OMC. The physico-chemical properties of these nano-hybrids measured on the SPF index, partical size, strcture, specific surface area, pore size, morphology, UV absorption, rate of the OMC dissolution using SPF Analyzer, Laser light scattering system, XRD, BET, SEM, chroma Meter, HPLC, Image analyzer, microfluidizer, UV/VIS. spectrometer.
Nitrification performance of fixed film biofilters using coarse sand, loess bead, or styrofoam beads in biofilter columns 1 meter high and 30cm in diameter were studied at different hydraulic and organic matter loading rates. Synthetic wastewater was supplied to the culture tank in order to maintain desired TAN concentrations in inlet water to biofilters. All the biofilters were conditioned 5 months before start of sampling. TAN and $NO_2-N$ conversion rates increased with an increase in the hydraulic loading rate (HLR). However, the improvement in biofilter performance was not linearly correlated to HLR in styrofoam bead filters. This is mainly due to the characteristics of the styrofoam beads used. TAN conversion rates of sand filters increased with the increase of HLR up to $200m^3/m^2$. per day. No increase in the TAN conversion rate was observed at the highest HLR since flooding on the media surface took place. HLR had a significant impact on the TAN conversion rates in loess bead filter up to the highest HLR tested (P<0.05). TAN conversion rates were much less at organic matter loading rates of 9 and 18kg $O_2/m^3$ per day than those without the addition of organic matter in styrofoam bead filters. The addition of glucose resulted in a reduction of the TAN conversion rate from 540 to 284g $TAN/m^3$ per day. No significant difference of TAN conversion rates between the two organic matter loading rates was found (p<0.05). This indicates that the impact of organic matter on nitrification becomes less and less sensitive with an increase in the COD/TAN ratio. At an organic matter loading rate of 9kg $O_2/m^3$. per day, a great reduction of TAN conversion rates was observed in sand filters and loess bead filters. Clearly, organic matter can be one of the most Important Impacting factors on nitrification. $NO_2-N$ conversion rates showed a similar trend for TAN. Based on the TAN and nitrite conversion rates, styrofoam beads showed the best performance among the three filter media tested. Also, the low gravity and price of styrofoam beads make the handling easier and more cost-effective for commercial application. The results obtained at the highest organic matter loading rates can be used in the biofilter design in recirculating aquaculture system.
The glass electrode was empirically calibrated in methanol-and 2-propanol-water mixed solvents, by means of which the pH-meter reading could be converted to stoichiometric hydrogen ion concentration. The thermodynamic dissociation constants of hydrogen cupferrate in methanol-and 2-propanol-water solution were potentiometrically determined with the changes in composition of organic solvents at 0.01 and 0.05 of the ionic strength and 25$^{\circ}C$. The empirical formula of the constants with mole fraction (n) of the organic solvent are as follow: methanol-water solution $pK_a$= 2.24n + 4.29 at ${\mu}$ = 0.01 n = 0.0476∼0.642 $pK_a$ = 2.35n + 4.38 at ${\mu}$ = 0.05 n= 0.0446~0.642 2-propanol-water solution $pK_a$= 5.50n + 4.48 at ${\mu}$ = 0.05 n = 0.0253~0.259 The relationships between $pK_a$ of acetic acid, propionic acid and HCup and dielectric constant of some mixed solvents were discussed. It would be considered that the factors effecting $pK_a$ value of weak acid in mixed-solvent are not only dielectric constants but acid-base character and solvation effect of the solvent, etc.
The glass electrode was empirically calibrated in dioxane-and ethanol-water mixed solvents, by means of which the pH-meter reading could be converted to stoichiometric hydrogen ion concentration. By the potentiometric titration method, the thermodynamic dissociation constants of hydrogen cupferrate (HCup) with variations of ionic concentration in aqueous solution were determined, and by the extrapolation of the constants the new thermodynamic $pK_a$ value, 3.980${\pm}$0.006, at zero ional concentration was obtained. The thermodynamic dissociation constants of HCup in dioxane-and ethanol-water solution were also potentiometrically determined with the changes in composition of organic solvents at 0.01 and 0.05 of the ionic strength(${mu}$) and 25 $^{\circ}C$. The empirical formula of the constants with mole fraction(n) of the organic solvent are as follow: Dioxane-water solution. $pK_a$= 12.96n + 4.10 at ${\mu}$ = 0.01, n = 0.0228∼0.171 $pK_a$= 12.05n + 4.23 at ${\mu}$ = 0.05, n= 0.0228∼0.171 Ethanol-water solution, $pK_a$= 4.0ln + 4.26 at ${\mu}$= 0.01, n= 0.0395∼0.262 $pK_a$= 3.83n + 4.34 at ${\mu}$= 0.05, n= 0.0395∼0.262
Electrical, optical, and structural properties of indium zinc oxide (IZO) films grown by a box cathode sputtering (BCS) were investigated as a function of oxygen flow ratio. A sheet resistance of $42.6{\Omega}/{\Box}$, average transmittance above 88% in visible range, and root mean spare roughness of $2.7{\AA}$ were obtained even in the IZO layers grown at room temperature. In addition, it is shown that electrical characteristics of the top-emitting organic light emitting diodes (TOLEDs) with the BCS grown-IZO top cathode layer is better than that of TOLEDs with DC sputter grown IZO top cathode, due to absence of plasma damage effect. Furthermore the effects of oxygen flow ratio in IZO films are investigated, based on x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultra violet/visible (UV/VIS) spectro-meter, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis results.

In the present study we investigated the relationship between the morphology and mechanical properties of electrospun polysulfone (PSF)/polyurethane (PU) blend nonwovens, by using the electrospinning process to prepare three types of electrospun nonwovens: PSF, PU and PSF/PU blends. The viscosity, conductivity and surface tension of the polymer solutions, were measured by rheometer, electrical conductivity meter and tensiometer, respectively. The electrospun PSF/PU blend nonwovens were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and with a universal testing machine. The SEM results revealed that the electrospun PSF nonwoven had a structure consisting of cross-bonding between fibers, whereas the electrospun PU nonwoven showed a typical, point-bonding structure. In the electrospun PSF/PU blend nonwovens, the exact nature of the point-bonding structure depended on the PU contents. The mechanical properties of the electrospun PSF/PU blend nonwoven were affected by the structure or the morphology. With increasing PU content, the mechanical behaviors, such as Young's modulus, yield stress, tensile strength and strain, of the electrospun PSF/PU blend nonwovens were by up to 80%.
Objectives: Direct-reading instrument(Photoionization detectors, PID) and quantitative analysis using active type air sampling (Gas chromatography-flame ionization detector, GC-FID) were tested to evaluate their ability to detect volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in a semiconductor manufacturing plant. Methods: The organic compounds used were acetone and ethanol which are normally used as cleaning solutions in the semiconductor manufacturing. The evaluation was based on the preparation of test solutions of known acetone and ethanol concentration in a chamber($600{\times}600{\times}1150mm$). Samples were prepared that would be equivalent to 5~100 ppm for acetone and 10~ 200 ppm ethanol. GC-FID and PID were evaluated simultaneously. Quantitative analysis was performed after sampling and the direct-reading instrument was checked using real-time data logging. Results: Positive correlations between PID and GC-FID were found for acetone and ethanol at 0.04~2.4% for acetone(TLV: 500 ppm) and 0.1~8.3% for ethanol(TLV: 1000 ppm). When the sampling time was 15 min, concentration of test solution was the most similar between measurement methods. However, the longer the sampling time, the less similar the results. PID and GC-FID had similar exposure patterns. Conclusions: The results indicate that PID and GC-FID have similar exposure pattern and positive correlation for detection of acetone and ethanol. Therefore, PID can be used for exposure monitoring for VOCs in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. This study has significance in that it validates measuring occupational exposure using a portable device.
