We have studied an angular dependence of emission pattern of top-emssion organic light-emitting diodes (TEOLED). Device structure is Al(100nm)/TPD(40nm)/$Alq_3$(60nm)/LiF(0.5nm)/Al(2nm)/Ag(30nm). N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-di(m-tolyl)-benzidine (TPD) and tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminium ($Alq_3$)were used as a hole transport layer and emission layer, respectively. Organic layers and cathode were thermally evaporated at $2\times10^{-5}$torr. The evaporation rate of the organic material was maintained to be $1.5\sim2.0{\AA}/s$, and that of metal layer to be $0.5\sim5{\AA}/s$. A transmittance of a cathode electrode(Al/Ag) in visible region is about 25~30%. In order to measure view-angle dependent intensity, electroluminenscence spectra of the device at each angle were integrated. Angle dependent emission spectra of the device do not show blue shift. Emission intensity of the device that the going straight characteristic is stronger the bottom-emission organic light-emitting diodes is shown.
Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted considerable attention on account of their high solar energy-to-conversion efficiencies and low cost processes compared to conventional p-n junction solar cells. The mechanism of DSSC is based on the injection of electrons from the photo excited dyes into the conduction band of the semiconductor electrode. The oxidized dye is reduced by the hole injection into either the hole conductor or the electrolyte. Thus, the light harvesting effect of dye plays an important role in capturing the photons and generating the electron/hole pair, as well as transferring them to the interface of the semiconductor and the electrolyte, respectively. We used the organic fluorescence materials which can absorb short wavelength light and emit longer wavelength region where dye sensitize effectively. In this work, the DSSCs were fabricated with fluorescence materials added $TiO_2$ photo-electrode which were sensitized with metal-free organic dyes. The photovoltaic performances of fluorescence aided DSSCs were compared, and the recombination dark current curves and the incident photon-to-current (IPCE) efficiencies were measured in order to characterize the effects of the additional light harvesting effect in DSSC. Electro-optical measurements were also used to optimize the fluorescence material contents on TiO2 photo-electrode surface for higher conversion efficiency (${\eta}$), fill factor (FF), open-circuit voltage (VOC) and short-circuit current (ISC). The enhanced light harvesting effect by the judicious choice/design of the fluorescence materials and sensitizing dyes permits the enhancement of photovoltaic performance of DSSC.
We have investigated gas-detection characteristics of CuTBP (Copper-tetra-tert-butylphthalocyanine) chemiresistor devices exposed to air/200ppm N $O_{2}$ gases. The CuTBP films were made by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) techniques. Sensitivity, response time, recovery time, and reproducibility of the devices were measured by current voltage characteristics. Interdigital electrode was used to improve the sensitivity. It was observed that a conductance G increases monotonically as the number of interdigital electrode finger pairs increases. As the number of interdigital electrode finger pairs increases, the sensitivity S( $G_{gas}$/ $G_{air}$) increases more than 50 times and stable. But the response time was delayed. The average recovery time of the CuTBP chemiresistor devices turned out to be about 100 second. We have also investigated applicability of the CuTBP chemiresistor device for a gas sensor.sor.
The organic electroluminescent(EL) device has gathered much interest because of its large potential in materials and simple device fabrication. We fabricated EL devices which have a blended single emitting layer containg poly(Nvinylcarbazole)[PVK] and poly(3-dodecylthiophene)[P3DoDT]. The molar ratio between P3DoDT and PVK changed with 1:0, 2:1 and 1:1. To improve the external quantum efficiency of EL devices, we applied insulating layer, LiF layer between polymer emitting layer and AI electrode. All of the devices emit orange-red light and it's can be explained that the energy transfer occurs from PVK to P3DoDT. Within the molar ratio 1:0, 2:1 and 1:1, the energy transfer was not saturated, which results in the not appearance of PVK emission in the blue region. In the voltage-current and voltage-light power characteristics of devices applied LiF layer, current and light power drastically increased with increasing with applied voltage. In the consequence of the result, the light power of the device have a molar ratio 1:1 with LiF layer was about 10 times larger than that of the device without PVK at 6V.
To overcome the theoretical efficiency of single-junction solar cells (> 30 %), tandem solar cells (or multi-junction solar cells) is considered as a strong nominee because of their excellent light utilization. Organic-inorganic halide perovskite has been regarded as a promising candidate material for next-generation tandem solar cell due to not only their excellent optoelectronic properties but also their bandgap-tune-ability and low-temperature process-possibility. As a result, they have been adopted either as a wide-bandgap top cell combined with narrow-bandgap silicon or CuInxGa(1-x)Se2 bottom cells or for all-perovskite tandem solar cells using narrow- and wide-bandgap perovskites. To successfully transition perovskite materials from for single junction to tandem, substantial efforts need to focus on fabricating the high quality wide- and narrow-bandgap perovskite materials and semi-transparent electrode/recombination layer. In this paper, we present an overview of the current research and our outlook regarding perovskite-based tandem solar technology. Several key challenges discussed are: 1) a wide-bandgap perovskite for top-cell in multi-junction tandem solar cells; 2) a narrow-bandgap perovskite for bottom-cell in all-perovskite tandem solar cells, and 3) suitable semi-transparent conducting layer for efficient electrode or recombination layer in tandem solar cells.
We have studied a lifetime in organic light-emitting diodes depending on buffer layer. A transparent electrode of indium-tin-oxide(ITO) was used as an anode. And the cathode for electron injection was LiAl. Phthalocyanine Copper(CuPc), Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly (PEDOT:PSS), or poly (9-vinylcarbazole)(PVK) material was used as a buffer layer. A thermal evaporation was performed to make a thickness of 40nm of TPD layer at a rate of $0.5{\sim}1\;{\AA}/s$ at a base pressure of $5{\times}10^{-6}\;torr$. A material of tris(8-hydroxyquinolinate) Aluminum($Alq_3$) was used as an electron transport and emissive layer. A thermal evaporation of $Alq_3$ was done at a deposition rate of $0.7{\sim}0.8[{\AA}/s]$ at a base pressure of $5{\times}10^{-6}\;torr$. By varying the buffer material, hole injection at the interface could be controlled because of the change in work function. Devices with CuPc and PEDOT:PSS buffer layer are superior to the other PVK buffer layer.
The organic electroluminescene (EL) device has gathered much interested because of its potential in materials and simple device fabrication. We fabricated EL device which have a mixed single emitting layer containing N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-(3-methylphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine [TPD] and poly(3-hexylthiophene) [P3HT]. The molar ratio between P3HT and TPD chaged with 1:1, 3:1, 5:1, 3:2 and 5:2. EL intensity of ITO/P3HT+TPD/Mg:In devices is enhanced by addition of TPD into P3HT. This can be explained that the energy transfer occurs from TPD to P3HT. Recombination probability increases in emitting layer because that TPD as hole transport material plays a role more injection hole and Mg:In (3.7eV) electrode has low work function make easily electron injection. ITO/P3HT+TPD(5:2)/Mg:In devices emit orange-red light at 28V.
We have studied an emission spectra of top-emssion organic light-emitting diodes(TEOLED) due to a change of cathode and organic layer thickness. Device structure is Al(100nm)/TPD(xnm)/$Alq_3$(ynm)/LiF(0.5nm)/cathode. And two different types of cathode were used; one is LiF(0.5nm)/Al(25nm) and the other is LiF(0.5nm)/Al(2nm)/Ag(30nm). While a thickness of hole-transport layer of TPD was varied from 35 to 65nm, an emissive layer thickness of $Alq_3$ was varied from 50 to 100nm for two devices. A ratio of those two layer was kept to be about 2:3. Al and Al/Ag double layer cathode devices show that the emission spectra were changed from 490nm to 560nm and from 490nm to 560nm, respectively, when the total organic layer increase. Full width at half maximum was changed from 67nm to 49nm and from 90nm to 35nm as the organic layer thickness increases. All devices show that view angle dependent emission spectra show a blue shift. Blue shift is strong when the organic layer thickness is more than 140nm. Devece with Al/Ag double layer cathode is more vivid.
In MIM capacitor, poly-Si bottom electrode is replaced with metal bottom electrode. Noble metals can be used as bottom electrodes of capacitors because they have high work function and remain conductive in highly oxidizing conditions. In addition, they are chemically very stable. Among novel metals, Ru (ruthenium) has been suggested as an alternative bottom electrode due to its excellent electrical performance, including a low leakage of current and compatibility to high dielectric constant materials. Chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) process has been suggested to planarize and isolate the bottom electrode. Even though there is a great need for development of Ru CMP slurry, few studies have been carried out due to noble properties of Ru against chemicals. In the organic chemistry literature, periodate ion ($IO_4^-$) is a well-known oxidant. It has been reported that sodium periodate ($NaIO_4$) can form $RuO_4$ from hydrated ruthenic oxide ($RuO_2{\cdot}nH_2O$). $NaIO_4$ exist as various species in an aqueous solution as a function of pH. Also, the removal mechanism of Ru depends on solution of pH. In this research, the static etch rate, passivation film thickness and wettability were measured as a function of slurry pH. The electrochemical analysis was investigated as a function of pH. To evaluate the effect of pH on polishing behavior, removal rate was investigated as a function of pH by using patterned and unpatterned wafers.

The effect of gate insulator surface treatment on electrical characteristics of bottom contact (BC) and suspended source/drain (SSD) organic thinfilm transistors (OTFTs) was studied. Triisopropylsilylethynyl pentacene was used as an active material and was printed by ink-jet printing method. In case of the BC OTFTs, threshold voltage was shifted from positive to near zero, and the fieldeffect mobility was increased when the gate insulator surface was treated with hexamethyldisilazane. However, in case of SSD OTFT, threshold voltage shift was not observed and the field-effect mobility was decreased.
