Organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) backplane constitute the active elements in new generations of plastic electronic devices for flexible display. The overall OTFTs performance is largely depended on the properties and quality of each layers of device material. In solution based process of organic semiconductors (OSCs), the interface state is most impediments to preferable performance. Generally, a threshold voltage (Vth) shift is usually exhibited when organic gate insulators (OGIs) are exposed in an ambient air condition. This phenomenon was caused by the absorbed polar components (i.e. oxygen and moisture) on the interface between OGIs and Soluble OSCs during the jetting process. For eliminating the polar component at the interface of OGI, the role of high vacuum seasoning on an OGI for all solution processable OTFTs were studied. Poly 4-vinly phenols (PVPs) were the material chosen as the organic gate dielectric, with a weakness in ambient air. The high vacuum seasoning of PVP's surface showed improved performance from non-seasoning TFT; a $V_{th}$, a ${\mu}_{fe}$ and a interface charge trap density from -8V, $0.018cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$, $1.12{\times}10^{-12}(cm^2eV)^{-1}$ to -4.02 V, $0.021cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$, $6.62{\times}10^{-11}(cm^2eV)^{-1}$. These results of OTFT device show that polar components were well eliminated by the high vacuum seasoning processes.
The interfacial polymerization method has been applied to various fields as a reaction in which reactive monomers dissolved in two immiscible solutions cause polymerization at the interface. In the case of water treatment membranes, m-phenylene diamine and trimesoyl chloride are used as reactants. The performance of the membrane is affected by various polymerization factors. In this study, we investigated how the spreading rate of the organic solution influences the surface and structure of the membrane. Spreading rate of organic solutions was adjusted to 7.6 and 25 mm/sec. The solution volume of the organic phase was adjusted to 1~3 drops. The observed results showed that cracks were not found in the polyamide membrane when dropping at a drop of 7.6 mm/sec and dropping two drops at 25 mm/sec. On the other hand, cracks occurred in all cases. Therefore, the spreading rate of the initial organic solvent is expected to greatly affect the performance of the polyamide membrane.

Organic-inorganic hybrid coating solutions were prepared by using a sol-gel method for transparent film. In this study, colloidal silica (CS) and alkoxy silane such as vinyltrimethoxysilane (VTMS), and [3-(methacryloyloxy)]propyltri methoxy silane (MAPTMS) were used in various conditions such as types of organic silane, weight ratios of CS to silane and reaction times. Coating solutions which were bar coated on the PET (polyethyleneterephthalate) film and cured were investigated on the chemical and physical properties. The pencil hardness and adhesion of coating films were increased with increasing the organic silane content in the coating solution compared to that of PMMA (polymethamethylcrylate) coating solution.

The catalytic combustion of benzene, toluene and xylene over Pt-based catalyst was investigated in a fixed bed flow reactor system with atmospheric pressure to recycle the waste industrial catalyst for the processes of removing volatile organic compounds. According to the pretreatment condition, the properties of the waste Pt-based catalyst were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Toller). In the carte of air pretreatment, 20$0^{\circ}C$ was found to be optimal, and increasing pretreatment temperature resulted in the reduction of the catalytic activity. When Pt-based catalyst pretreated at 20$0^{\circ}C$ by alto was retreated by hydrogen, the catalytic activity increased by increasing treatment temperature. In the case of HNO$_3$aqueous solution pretreatment, the catalytic activity decreased by increasing the concentration of HNO$_3$aqueous solution. The catalytic activity was seen to observe the following sequence : benzene > toluene > xylene.
A study on the separation Cu, Ni, and Co was carried out using LIX 84 leachate, chelate extractant. For this test, artificial test solution was prepared by varing concentrations of Cu, Ni, Co, $(NH_4)_2CO_3$ and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$. It found that pH of the solution was very important factor for the separation of nickel from copper. The results showed that nickel was effectively extracted from copper by using LIX 84 at pH 1.0 to 1.2. The volume ration or organic to aqueous phases was 1.0. According to the McCabe-Thiele diagram, the extraction rate of copper was 99 percents at the equal ratio of organic to aqueous phase in three stages.
A highly efficient blue organic light-emitting diode (OLED) was fabricated by using a novel polymer host, poly[3-(carbazol-9-ylmethyl)-3-methyloxetane]. The resultant solution-processed device showed a markedly high efficiency of 29.7 lm/W at 100 cd/$m^2$ by doping 24 wt% blue dye bis(3,5-difluoro-2-(2-pyridyl)-phenyl-(2-carboxy pyridyl) iridium (III).
The binding isotherms of ionic dyes with Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) in aqueous solution were determined by the dynamic dialysis technique. The shape of the isotherms of cationic dye, C. I. Basic Red 18 with poly(vinlypyrrolidone) showed a partition type. It suggests that the binding involves a non-cooperative mode. Isotherms of an anion dye, a synthesized dye by coupling of diazotized m-trifluoromethylaniline with 2-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid, were sigmoid type and showed multimode interaction. The results were interpreted by the McGhee von Hippel theory. The thermodynamic parameters for the complex formation of the dyes-polymer were calculated from their temperature dependences of the intrinsic binding constant.

We demonstrated that the solution processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have the high efficiency with pre-treated indium-tin-oxide (ITO). ITO surface was pre-treated with four methods and compared each other. The pre-treatment of ITO surface improves the chemical and physical characteristics of ITO such as the surface roughness, adhesion property, and the hole injection ability. These properties were analyzed by the contact angle, atomic force microscope (AFM) image, and the current flow character in device. As a results, the device with ITO pre-treated by $O_2$ plasma shows the current efficiency of 5.93 cd/A, which is 1.5 times the device without pre-treatment.
Organic semiconductors have received tremendous attention for their research because of their tunable electrical and optical properties that can be achieved by changing their molecular structure. However, organic materials are inherently unstable in the presence of oxygen and moisture. Therefore, it is necessary to develop moisture and air stable semiconducting materials that can replace conventional organic semiconductors. In this study, we developed a NiOx thin film through a solution process. The electrical characteristics of the NiOx thin film, depending on the thermal annealing temperature and UV-ozone treatment, were determined by applying them to the hole injection layer of an organic light-emitting diode. A high annealing temperature of 500 ℃ and UV-ozone treatment enhanced the conductivity of the NiOx thin films. The optimized NiOx exhibited beneficial hole injection properties comparable those of 1,4,5,8,9,11-hexaazatriphenylene hexacarbonitrile (HAT-CN), a conventional organic hole injection layer. As a result, both devices exhibited similar power efficiencies and the comparable electroluminescent spectra. We believe that NiOx could be a potential solution which can provide robustness to conventional organic semiconductors.

This experiment was performed to investigate the characteristics of sonolytic reaction as the basic data for development of the ultrasonic AOP(Advanced Oxidation Process) process from which the refractory organic compounds in aqueous solution which are not readily removed by the existing conventional wastewater treatment processes can be destructed and removed. Trichloroethylene (TCE), benzene, and 2,4-dichlorophenol(DCP) were used as the samples, and their destruction efficiency were measured in terms of experimental parameters of the initial solution concentration, initial solution pH, reaction temperature, acoustic frequencies and intensities. Results showed that the destruction efficiencies of all of the sample materials were above 80% within 120 minutes of sonolytic reaction in all reaction condition. The reaction order of these three compounds was verified as Pseudo first order. From the fore-mentioned results, it can be concluded that the refractory organic compounds could be removed by the ultrasonic irradiation with radicals, such as H$.$and OH$.$causing the high increase of pressure and temperature. Finally, it appears that the new AOP technology using ultrasonic irradiation can be applied to the treatment of refractory substances which are difficult to be decomposed by the conventional methods.
