The organic impurities are formed in the p-xylene oxidation process to terephthalic acid(TPA) and they are present in the filtrate(mother liquor) solution or the TPA particles. The organic impurities present in the p-xylene oxidation are formed through side reactions or incomplete reaction. In this study, the main organic impurities, such as benzoic acid, p-toluic acid, p-tolualdehyde, 4-carboxybenzaldehyde, phthalic acid, isophthalic acid, trimellitic acid, and 4-hydroxymethyl benzoic acid were identified simultaneously by gas chromatograghy. The above impurities were reacted with bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide in the mixture of internal standard solution and pyridine solution by trimethylsilylation, where the internal standard solution was made by 99% bis (trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide and 1% trimethylchlorosilane. The main organic impurities above mentioned can be analyzed quantitatively within 50 min.
An organic solvent-tolerant Pseudomonas savastanoi strain BCNU 106 was isolated.. This bacterium was gram negative rod, and showed oxidase positive, catalase positive, and decaboxylase positive reactions. The Pseudomonas strain oxidized cholesterol on the medium supplemented with an organic solvent. The strain BCNU 106 is able to grow in presence of organic solvents of which log $P_{ow}$ is between 1.5 to 7.0. The strain was well grown in a medium supplemented with a 10% volume of a organic solvent (toluene, p-xylene, cyclohexane, mesitlylene) containing $cholesterol(20mg/m{\ell)$. Major conversion compound were 7-dehydrocholesteryl dimethylphosphate, cholesta-4,7-dien-3-one, and cholesta-3,5-dieone.

Hydrolyzable organic esters were compared with ammonium sulphate as an acid donor for the pH control in dye-bath-reuse system of acid dyes mixtures. The ability of pH control, levelness, dyeing properties and reproducibility in dye-bath-reuse system were investigated comparatively. Hydrolyzable organic esters showed higher exhaustion and color yield than ammonium sulphate. In addition, hydrolyzable organic ester exhibited very low conductivity less than 0.5 mS, while ammonium sulphate give high conductivity. However, we could not observe any difference in levelness of dyed samples between two kinds of acid donors in laboratory scale dyeing. Over 10 cycles of reuse, hydrolyzable organic esters showed higher reproducibility than ammonium sulphate. No deterioration of the color fastness and levelness occurs over 10 cycles of reuse.

We fabricate organic single crystal nanowire heterojunction p-n diode poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT) and from Phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester(PCBM) using by liquid-bridge mediated nanotransfer molding(LB-nTM) method. LB-nTM has been reported an one step direct printing method for making well-aligned nanowire arrays. Moreover, multi-patterning nanostructures can be fabricated with the consecutive printing process. As a result, it is possible to make simple and basic concept of heterojunction devices such as lateral organic p-n nanojunction diode. P3HT/PCBM nanowires heterojunction diode has rectifying behavior with on/off ratios of ~20.
Increasing use of organically grown foods has renewed interest in the relationship between agricultural methods and food quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical characteristics and antioxidant activities of organic strawberries. For this study, strawberries were measured in terms of quality characteristics, including weight, length, diameter, hunter color, soluble solid contents (SSC), moisture contents, and pH, as well as antioxidant activities, including DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities and total phenol and flavonoid contents. Consequently, conventional strawberries showed higher weight, diameter, and L (lightness) and b (yellowness) values than organic strawberries (p<0.001). Length, moisture contents, pH, a (redness) value, and DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities were similar (p<0.05). However, organic strawberries showed higher SSC and total flavonoid and phenol contents than conventional strawberries (p<0.001). These results indicate that there were significant differences between organic and conventional agriculture techniques.
Red lateritic soils are typically low in total organic carbon (TOC) and available phosphorus (AP) content and continuous fertilization is required to obtain desired crop yield. In this experiment, cattle manure in three forms (air-dried, composted and vermicomposted) were applied to red lateritic soil to study their effect on TOC and AP content of soil and probable mechanism of P-solubilization as affected by these treatments were also studied. Vermicompost was the most effective to solubilize insoluble P in red lateritic soil (Alfisols) as compared to other organic amendments (air-dried cattle manure and compost). The highest SPA in vermicompost-treated soil attributed to the comparatively higher concentration of all the three SPA isozymes in these soils. The maximum P-solubilization in these soils might be attributed to the highest SPA and presence of several organic acids like citric, lactic and oxalic acids in vermicompost-treated soils. Since, vermicompost application also increased TOC, mineralizable N and exchangeable K content of soil, vermicompost could be considered as the most rational organic amendment to improve chemical properties of red lateritic soils.
This experiment was conducted to evaluate the bioavailability of different organic selenium (Se) products in finishing pigs. A total of 48 growing pigs, average body weight $47.6kg{\pm}0.05$, were allotted to four different treatments in a randomized complete block (RCB) design in three replicates with four pigs per pen. Three different organic Se products, Se-enriched yeast (treatments A and B) and Se-proteinate (treatment C), were used in conjunction with a basal diet with no added Se as a control treatment. In growing period, pigs were fed the same diet but finishing pigs were fed each treatment diet containing organic Se products for 6 weeks. During the experimental period, feed intake and body weight were measured and blood samples were collected to determine the Se concentration. At the end of this experiment, 3 pigs per treatment were killed and various tissues (loin, liver, kidney, pancreas and spleen) were collected to analyze the Se concentration. The body weight, and average daily feed intake (ADFI) were similar among treatments, but the average daily gain (ADG) was increased on Se-proteinate treatment (p<0.01) and gain-to-feed ratio (G/F ratio) was improved on Se yeast B or Se-proteinate treatment (p<0.01). The tissue Se content was also increased when pigs were fed organic Se sources, and Se was retained efficiently in loin (p<0.01) and kidney (p<0.05) when Se yeast B was provided. The serum Se concentration was increased when organic Se was provided and was higher when pigs were fed Se-proteinate (p<0.01); subsequently liver Se was also higher on Se-proteinate treatment than other treatments. The Se yeast A treatment did not show any increment of Se concentration both in serum and tissues. This result demonstrated that Se retention and bioavailability in finishing pigs were varied by Se products although organic sources were provided. Consequently, each organic Se product should be evaluated before it is used as a supplement in animal feed.
Efficient white organic light-emitting diodes are fabricated with the blue and red electroluminescent (EL) units electrically connected in a stacked tandem structure by using a transparent doped organic p/n junction. The blue and red EL units consist of the light-emitting layer of 1,4-bis(2,2-diphenyl vinyl)benzene (DPVBi) and 4-dicyanomethylene-2-methyl-6-[2-(2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1H,5H-benzo[i,j] quinolizin-8-yl)vinyl]-4H-pyran) (DCM2) doped tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum $(Alq_3)$, respectively. The organic p-n junction consists of ${\alpha}-NPD$ doped with $FeCl_3$ (15 % by weight ratio) and $Alq_3$ doped with Li (10 %). The EL spectra exhibit two peaks at 448 and 606 nm, resulting in white light-emission with the Commission Internationale d'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of (0.36, 0.24). The tandem device shows the quantum efficiency of about 2.2 % at a luminance of 100 $cd/m^2$, higher than individual blue and red EL devices.
We have demonstrated several effective intermediate connectors in tandem organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) using doped or nondoped organic p-n heterojunction. The influence of n-type or p-type organic layer in intermediate connectors on device performance has been investigated based on the understanding of interfacial electronic structures.

Ninety-six, 35 day old, crossbred pigs, were fed either a basal diet based on com, soybean meal, fish meal and whey or one of three similar diets supplemented with either 0.5% organic acid or enzyme both alone and in combination. Neither organic acid nor enzyme produced any significant (p<0.05) improvements in daily gain or feed conversion. Organic acid, both alone and in combination with enzyme, significantly (p=0.04) decreased the pH in the lower colon. None of the treatments produced any effects on E. Coli or Lactobacillus numbers in any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Feeding enzyme increased trypsin (p=0.01), chymotrypsin (p=0.03) and amylase (p=0.08) levels in the jejunum. Chymotrypsin levels were higher (p=0.04) in the ileum of pigs fed enzyme. Serum glucose levels were lower (p=0.01) on day 14 in pigs fed enzyme either alone or in combination with acid. Under the conditions of this experiment (10% dietary whey, pigs weaned at 35 days of age), neither organic acid nor enzyme were effective in improving starter pig performance. Therefore, there would appear to be little justification for the routine inclusion of these products in diets fed to pigs weaned at 35 days or later.
