  • Copper deposition studies have been actively studied since interests on 3D SiP were increased. The defects inside via can be easily formed due to the current density differences on entrance, bottom and wall of via. So far many different additives and current types were discussed and optimized to obtain void-free copper via filling. In this research acid cupric sulfate plating bath containing additives such as PEG, SPS, JGB, PEI and wave current applied electroplating were examined. The size and shape of grain were influenced by the types of organic additives. The cross section of specimen were analyzed by FESEM. When PEI was added, the denser copper deposits were obtained. Electroplaing time was reduced when 2 step via filling was employed.

  • The defect like the void or seam is frequently generated in the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Via-Filling plating inside via hole. The organic additives including the accelerating agent, inhibitor, leveler, and etc. are needed for the copper Via-Filling plating without this defect for the plating bath. However, the decomposition of the organic additive reduces the lifetime of the plating bath during the plating process, or it becomes the factor reducing the reliability of the Via-Filling. In this paper, the interaction of each organic additives and the decomposition of additive were discussed. As to the accelerating agent, the bis (3-sulfopropyl) disulfide (SPS) and leveler the Janus Green B (JGB) and inhibitor used the polyethlylene glycol 8000 (PEG). The research on the interaction of the organic additives and decomposition implemented in the galvanostat method. The additive decomposition time was confirmed in the plating process from 0 Ah/l (AmpereHour/ liter) to 100 Ah/l with the potential change.

  • Effects of cathodic overvoltages on the electrodeposition of lead from electrolyte containing lead chloride, ammonium acetate and sodium succinate was investigated at 20$^{\circ}C$. The use of organic additives, phenol and gelatin was found effective to inhibit the growth of dendritic crystals. At the carthodic overvoltages higher than 0.2V, the lead deposit becames less compact even in the presence of organic additives. The applications of agitation and pulse current promoted compact and shiny deposits.

  • Analysis of additives in cured rubber is often a difficult task for analytical chemists because of a wide variety of complex components. Conventional analyses of additives and rubbers have been done in multistep, off-line processes with large sample size and extensive sample preparations. The coumarone-indene resin, resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, and prevulcanization inhibitor have been characterized by their pyrolysis pathways and mass spectra of characteristic pyrolyzates. Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) was used in the identification of additives without any sample pretreatment. This result shows that several organic additives in cured rubber can be directly analyzed.

  • The changes of contaminants and odor corresponding to anaerobic maturation process of piggery slurry were investigated by applying the additives, such as different kinds of complex microorganism products and deodorants containing microorganism activating agents. The pHs during 20-day anaerobic maturation were operated stably without great change regardless of the additives, although they were rather lower in the case that the additives were contained than the case that they were not contained. The effects of removing CODcr, $NH_3-N$, T-N, and T-S in case that the additives were not contained, were not so great during the 20-day operation and so it would be difficult to remove the organic materials and nitrogen ingredients simply with anaerobic maturation process. However, in case of anaerobic maturation process that the additives were contained, their average removal rates were improved with the values of $49\%,\;63.5\%,\;48.5\%,\;and\;30.7\%$ for above each of items, even if the 20-day of short-term maturation period was applied. Especial1y, odor intensity with the additives was lowered continuously during the operation period and it had more than two times of lowering effect compared to that without those.

  • Composting has been proposed for the management of organic waste, and the resulting products can be used as soil amendments and fertilizer. However, the emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as CO2, CH4, and N2O produced in composting are of considerable concern. Hence, various additives have been developed and adopted to control the emissions of GHGs. This review presents the different additives used during composting and summarizes the effects of additives on GHGs during composting. Thirty-four studies were reviewed, and their results showed that the additives can reduce cumulative CO2, CH4, and N2O emission by 10.5%, 39.0%, and 28.6%, respectively, during composting. Especially, physical additives (e.g., biochar and zeolite) have a greater effect on mitigating N2O emissions during composting than do chemical additives (e.g., phosphogypsum and dicyandiamide). In addition, superphosphate had a high CO2 reduction effect, whereas biochar and dicyandiamide had a high N2O reduction effect. This implies that the addition of superphosphate, biochar, and dicyandiamide during composting can contribute to mitigating GHG emissions. Further research is needed to find novel additives that can effectively reduce GHG emissions during composting.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the effect of organic additives and prestressed D C. voltage on the impulse tree initiation in low density polyethylene. The five klnds of organic compounds was selected for the purpose of inhibiting tree initiation and 10 wt % of each additive was mixed in low density polyethylene. The positive or negative impulse voltage was applied after prestressed D.C. voltage was applied in order to investigate the effect of the space charge influenced on tree initiation. The lengths of tree initiation in case of belng same polarity between prestressed D.C. voltage and impulse voltage were longer than those in case of being different polarity between prestressed D.C. voltage and impulse voltage. When the polarity prestressed D.C. voltage was the different plarity of impulse voltage, the length of tree initiation increased with increasing the prestressed D.C. voltage and decreasing the rest time Among the organic additives used in this paper, the m-cresol can be shown to be the most effective inhibiter to tree initiation.

  • This study reports on the influence of N-butyl-N-methylpyrrolidinium tetrafluoroborate ($PYR_{14}BF_4$) ionic liquid additive on the conducting and interfacial properties of organic solvent based electrolytes against a carbon electrode. We used the mixture of ethylene carbonate/dimethoxyethane (1:1) as an organic solvent electrolyte and tetraethylammonium tetrafluoroborate ($TEABF_4$) as a common salt. Using the $PYR_{14}BF$ ionic liquid as additive produced higher ionic conductivity in the electrolyte and lower interface resistance between carbon and electrolyte, resulting in improved capacitance. The chemical and electrochemical stability of the electrolyte was measured by ionic conductivity meter and linear sweep voltammetry. The electrochemical analysis between electrolyte and carbon electrode was examined by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the usefulness, attitude for using on food labeling such as nutrition labeling, organic food labeling and food additives labeling, and purchase intention in Korean housewives and university students. A total of 320 subjects participated in study from October to November in 2008. They answered to developed questionnaire and 300 subjects (149 housewives, 151 students) completed all questions. The statistical analyses were performed using by SPSS 17.0 package program. The rates of checking the nutrition labeling, organic food labeling and food additives labeling were 57.3%, 57.2% and 63.3%, respectively. Comparing housewives with university students, housewives showed significantly more positive usefulness, attitude for using, purchase intention in some questions about nutrition labeling, organic food labeling and food additives labeling (p < 0.05). Subjects who checked each food labeling on purchasing had more positive usefulness, attitude for using and purchase intention in all questions (p < 0.01). For nutrition labeling and organic food labeling, usefulness (each value of ${\beta}$ was 0.362, 0.354) and attitude for using (each value of ${\beta}$ was 0.336, 0.301) were independent factors for purchase intention (p < 0.001). For food additives labeling, only usefulness had an effect on purchase intention. In conclusion, usefulness, attitude for using food labeling and purchase intention were different between housewives and university students. Moreover, usefulness and attitude for using food labeling affected positively on purchase intention.
