Objectives : The purpose of this study is to assess oral health perception, oral health behavioral and family smoking status according to smoking experience in a part of high school students. Methods : A survey is conducted with a total of 648 first grader at high school in Dae-Gu city from 1st to 30th September, 2009. The results are as follows. Results : 1. 95.5% of respondents are 'smoking is very harmful for health' and the majority of smoking-related disease are lung cancer, oral disease, and oral cancer. 2. 127 respondents have experience in smoking and 62 respondents are smoking at that time. 59.7% respondents have 1 year smoking history and the majority of respondent are 5 cigarettes/day. 67.8% respondents are under 5 cigarettes/day. 3. In oral health behavioral by smoking, the majority of smokers' teeth brushing are 3 times, 47.2% and 2 times, 27.6%. The majority of nonsmoker's teeth brushing are 3 times, 47.0% and 2 times 26.5%. The results of teeth brushing time are significantly different between smokers and non-smokers(p<.001). The majority of smokers and non-smokers have not experienced about scaling. It is significantly different between 2 groups(p<.05). 4. The smoking rate of father and grandfather in smokers is higher than non-smokers. It is significantly different between 2 groups(p<.005). 5. The need for oral management in oral health education is gum treatment and dental caries treatment. 22.8% smokers and 25.7% non-smokers require to get gum treatment. 18.1% smokers and 20.2% non-smokers required to get dental caries treatment. Conclusions : Also Future longitudinal research is required to develop oral health promotion program contents according smoking-oral health.
The purpose of this study is to investigate correlation between experience of visiting the dentist and oral symptoms with 10,701 high school seniors in the research data of the 8th juvenile online health behavior carried out in 2012. The results of this research showed that the lower academic grades, the more tooth crack they experienced, and the lower economic conditions, the more toothache they tended to experience. The main reasons they visited the dentist were because their teeth ached, tingled or throbbed with pain. Scores of oral symptoms, sex, economic conditions and the number of experience of visiting the dentist were found to have a significant correlation. In order to improve high school students' dental health continually, we need to install the school dental health room and need to systemize continuous dental health care system for high school students, along with development of various school dental health education programs, by vitalizing prevention based school dental health education.
Oral health knowledge, awareness and attitude towards parents of the dental hygiene students is giving a mutual influence over their children enrolled in the dental hygiene department. Therefore, the university is a situation that requires students to oral health education that can be caused by changes in attitudes and behavior, rather than a simple knowledge transfer. This study was performed to compare the differences in oral health knowledge and awareness of dental hygiene department parents. Research method was used to survey the SPSS v19.0 through the Google study has used a total of 200 in the final analysis to the National Dental Hygiene Department of the lower grades (first grade) and seniors (fourth grade), the student's parent. The results child's impact as a student in the dental hygiene department is older group were more statistically significant than the younger group. Oral Health Knowledge average of the parents of the grade your child is younger parents, older parents, cognitive average younger parents, older parents, education, whether through a child younger parents older parents, the impact is younger parents was higher in the upper grades to both parents of older parents. Objectives: This study analyzed the perception towards clinical practice education content held by dental hygiene students in dental institutions and their perceived importance of dental hygienists' clinical duties. Methods: The subjects of this study were 182 dental hygienists who were working at dental institutions in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungcheong areas. A survey was conducted with a self-administered questionnaire. In the questionnaire, the clinical practice contents were classified into observation, preparation, and performance, and the importance of clinical duty was measured with a 3-point scale. For the clinical practice contents and the importance of duty, descriptive statistics and chi-square test were performed, and the study results were analyzed using STATA 11.0. Results: With regard to clinical practice contents, observation was mainly performed in oral & maxillofacilal radiology, preventive dentistry, periodontal medicine and oral medicine. In primary care and infection control, practice and observation were mainly performed. In the department of orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, observation and preparation were mainly conducted, while in oral surgery, conservative dentistry observation, preparation and practice were all conducted. With regard to clinical practice contents according to the dental institution, there were statistically significant differences in the type of dental institution and the duty (p>0.05). In terms of the importance of dental hygienist's duty, infection control, toothbrushing education for each patient, removal of plaque, and patient education after surgery were considered important. Conclusions: For clinical practice of the dental hygiene department, the education contents should be standardized in accordance with the importance of the dental hygienist's duty, a protocol for operation of practice should be developed, and a method of standardization of evaluation should be sought in the future.
Background: Legal regulations and fees have been established in Korea to provide visiting oral health care services to individuals with long-term care insurance (LTCI). However, beneficiaries of this service are very limited. Therefore, to improve the Korean system we propose a comparative analysis with the Japanese system. Methods: This study is a descriptive analysis based on secondary data, such as statistics, laws, and service record forms from Korea and Japan. The most recent institutional documents were obtained through a Google search. The variables investigated were financial resources of LTCI, co-payment structure, monthly limit of LTCI benefits, care levels of LTCI, service providers, service costs, contents of service, and the number of cases of service. Results: In both Korea and Japan, LTCI is financed through a combination of taxes and insurance premiums. However, the monthly limit for receiving LTCI services in Japan is about 2.4 times higher than in Korea. Visiting medical and dental treatment is also possible in Japan. Furthermore, nursing staff can provide daily oral health care services according to dental hygienists' instruction unlike Korea. Oral health care services in Korea are focused on oral hygiene and prevention of oral diseases, while Japan additionally provides oral function screening, patient education for oral health management, and training for nursing staff to enhance oral function, eating, and swallowing of the patients. Conclusion: We concluded that the possibility of visiting dental treatment, differences in monthly limit of LTCI benefits, oral function assessment and guidance, as well as collaboration with other healthcare professionals contributed to the difference in the frequency of utilization of visiting oral health care services between Korea and Japan.

This study was attempted in order to offer basic data for performing systematic and desirable task through improving job by surveying the actual condition and the task weight in dental hygienists. As a result of analyzing daily task weight in subjects of this study, the ratio of medical-cure cooperation task was indicated to be highest with 35.45%. It was indicated to be in order of periodontal therapy service with 21.54%, of administration & management task with 16.08%, of oral health education task with 15.88%, and of preventive treatment service with 11.23%. As for kind-based utilization ratio of the oral health education contents and oral health education data, a toothbrushing education method by subject was indicated most highly with 3.70 points. It was indicated to be in order of usage on oral hygiene device with 3.51 points, of educational method on regular check-up with 3.26 points, of educational method of preventing dental disease with 3.13 points, and of educational method on diet control with 1.39 points. Jaw-plate model was indicated to be used the most with 38.0%. It was indicated to be in order of orally explaining with 23.9% and of camera inside the mouth with 12.2%. Thus, establishment of a system is considered to be necessary in order to promote quality of oral health education for patients in the future by performing diverse programs with high utilization value in addition to a steady interest.
This study utilizes raw data from the first-ever Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) conducted in 2017 and its purpose is to identify factors that influences Daily toothbrushing frequency and use of oral health care products for adolescents aged 13 to 18 years in conjunction with their mothers. Factors affecting Daily toothbrushing frequency of adolescents are: Whether the mother smokes or not, and Daily toothbrushing frequency for the mother. The more the mother younger and smoked and brushed her teeth, the higher the number of sessions increased for the adolescent child. The higher the mothers' level of education and use of oral care products were the greater the adolescent child's use of oral care products became. As a result, the study determined that the oral health of adolescents and of their mothers are closely related. A program to educate adolescents and mothers to promote the oral health of adolescents should be developed, and continuously and systematically implemented at home and school.
The aim of this study was to confirm for relationship between national exam stress and oral health status on allied health students. For this, 829 of allied health students were surveyed in four college and university located in Chungbuk and Kyungbuk. Survey tool were constituted general characteristic(4 items), national exam stress(16 items) and oral health status(34 items). The result of study, national exam stress of female were higher than male and that of department of dental hygiene, nursing, emergency medical service students were higher than other students(p<0.05). Subjective oral symptom were higher on high stress group than other groups(p<0.05). Relationship between stress and subjective oral symptom were related each other(p<0.01). Therefore it is necessary to education for manage oral symptom affected national exam stress.
This study aimed to find out the effects of oral health education between the experiment group and the control group upon motivating them using oral facial program in 56 subjects including 29 members in the experiment group and 26 in the test group. With the collected data, Wilcoxon signed rank test was performed to understand the difference before and after the program. OHBI in the experiment group showed significantly higher than the control group (p<0.05), mean values after the program with $9.57{\pm}1.44$ and $8.68{\pm}1.46$ points in the experiment group and the control group, respectively. Mean QHI score in the experiment group was $1.00{\pm}.14$ points after the program while that in the test group was $1.03{\pm}.23$, demonstrating lower in the experiment group but not statistically significant. Mean scores of program satisfaction level were $4.13{\pm}.17$ and $3.94{\pm}.22$ points in the experiment group and the control group, respectively, demonstrating statistically significant. Based on the study results, the effects of oral health education using orofacial program showed the differences between the groups in dental plaque index and oral health behavior index. It is worth to use the oral facial exercise program as a tool for improving the authoring function and oral hygiene.
This study researched the toothbrushing behavior and perception of oral health condition in accordance with the use of cafeteria, 280 Students of 28 high schools in Daegu and Gyeongbuk to identify the relationship between cafeteria use and oral health. and then obtained statistically significant results like below. Toothbrushing after meals and snacks was high with female students and Grade3. Rinsing mouth for ten times or more after toothbrushing was high with female students and private car while the use of oral care products was high with female students, Grade3, and private car. The whole average frequency of using cafeteria was 2.26 while the perception of oral health condition was 3.44. The frequency of using cafeteria was high with Grade2, before time for school, and lots of allowance. The perception of oral health condition was high with male students, school bus, and lots of allowance. The frequency of using cafeteria in accordance with toothbrushing behavior was high with toothbrushing for longer than three minutes(2.45) while the perception of oral health condition was high in case when using oral care products(3.32). In the results of multiple regression analysis to understand the influence of perception of oral health condition, general characteristics, and toothbrushing behavior on the frequency of using cafeteria, it was analyzed like Y(frequency of using cafeteria)=-952+.393(perception of oral health condition)- 1.721(time for school)+ .991(allowance)+ 1.124(duration of toothbrushing). Based on the results above, it would be necessary to establish the educational system to continuously practice the correct oral health care education in school.
