Objectives : The aim of the study is to estimate the dental caries experience and the factors influencing the dental caries in children and adolescents and to provide the data for effective management of oral health in children and adolescents. Methods : Subjects were 446 students randomly recruited in primary, middle, high school students located in Seoul from April 1 to May 31 2011. The data were collected by a questionnaire survey and direct oral examination. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS WIN 14.0 program. Results : DMF in male accounted for 88.8% and that in female accounted for 89.1%. The oral promotion behaviors in female was significantly higher than those in male (p<0.001). Aged (p<0.05) and well-educated parents(p<0.001) tended to have better oral promotion behaviors. The higher oral health knowledge, the better oral health promotion behaviors. Better oral health promotion behaviors tended to have lower DMFT and DT index (p<0.01). In regression analysis, age, oral health promotion behavior in children and adolescents were related to the dental caries experience (p<0.001). Poor oral health promotion behaviors increased the dental caries experience. Conclusions : The active oral health care can prevent dental caries in children and adolescents. The concern for oral health care is important to maintain healthy dental hygiene.

They also scored 3.88 points in perceived benefit, 3.51 in selfesteem, 3.43 in self-efficacy, 3.28 in perceived oral health status, 2.77 in previous oral health related behaviors, and 1.79 in perceived barriers. Second, a significant difference was observed according to gender in previous oral health related behaviors and oral health promotion behavior. And a significant difference was also found according to grade in previous oral health related behaviors, perceived benefit, perceived barriers, selfesteem, self-efficacy, and oral health promotion behavior. Third, when they had an experience of visiting a dental clinic for preventive purposes, a significant difference was found according to the purposes of going to a dentist in previous oral health related behaviors, perceived benefit, and oral health promotion behavior. And fourth, multiple regression analysis was carried out with oral health promotion behavior as a dependent variable. As a result, all the research variables, which include previous oral health related behaviors, perceived oral health status, perceived benefit, perceived barriers, self-esteem, and self-efficacy, turned out to have significant influences on oral health promotion behavior. And their explanatory power was 49%. Conclusion: Those factors that were identified to affect the oral health promotion behavior of programs to promote their oral health.

Method. Self-administered questionnaire was used in marriage migrant women using eight multi-cultural centers in Yeongnam region from October to December, 2013 and 256 copies were finally analyzed. The statistically analysis was performed using SPSS 18.0, with the statistical significance level set at p<.05. Results. As for the effects of oral health belief on oral health behaviors, the experience of scaling was affected by sensitivity(${\beta}=2.787$), by seriousness(${\beta}=.568$), and the experience of oral health education status was affected by seriousness(${\beta}=.214$), usefulness(${\beta}=.155$). Conclusions. It is necessary to analyze the effects of oral health belief on oral health behaviors, making positive efforts to develop preventive oral health management and oral health education programs, and make fundamental policies for improving oral health in multi-cultural family so that marriage immigrant women can make efficient oral health management.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine socioeconomic inequalities in oral health and to investigate the extent to which socioeconomic disparities in oral health are attenuated by oral health related consciousness and behaviors. Methods: We used data from the third 2006 Korea National Oral Health Survey(KNOHS) and a total of 3,457 subjects aged over 18 years were analyzed. The dependent variable was periodontal conditions which is devided into dichotomy, that is, health and ill-health, using the Community Periodontal Index(CPI) in KNOHS. Socioeconomic status(SES) were measured by educational attainment, income and residential area. Age, gender, oral health consciousness(self-assessed oral health status, concern about oral health and self-perceived dental treatment needs and behaviors(brushing, use of dental floss and dental visits) were adjusted in binary logistic regression analysis. Results and Conclusion: The results show that oral health consciousness and behaviors do not mediate the relationship between SES and periodontal health and there might be limitations to attenuate socioeconomic disparities in oral health only by changing of either oral health consciousness or(and) behaviors. Our findings suggest that more definite oral health policies and dental health education among adults with lower education will need in order to improve oral health.
Objectives: This study aimed to examined the socioeconomic disparities in oral health related behaviors and to assess if those behaviors eliminate socioeconomic disparities in oral health in a nationally representative sample of adults aged 30-64. Methods: Data are from the Korea Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2005). Behaviors were indicated by smoking, over intake of daily calories from carbohydrate, perceived stress, frequency of daily tooth brushing, use of oral hygiene goods, insufficient oral treatment. Oral health outcomes were self-reported dental caries and periodontitis during the last 12 months and perceived oral health. Education, household income, and employed status indicated socioeconomic position. Sex, age, residential area, marital status were adjusted for in the logistic regression analysis. Logistic regression analysis was used to assess socioeconomic disparities in behaviors. Logistic regression model adjusting and not adjusting for behaviors were compared to assess the change in socioeconomic disparities in oral health. Results: Clear socioeconomic disparities in all behaviors were showed. After adjusting for behaviors, the association between oral health and socioeconomic indicators attenuated but did not disappear. For example, the odd ratios of reporting poorer oral health for persons in no education or elementary school education and middle school education groups, compared with college or higher education group, were 1.77 (95% CI: 1.36-2.29) and 1.56 (1.19-1.97), respectively. After adjusting for all indicators of behaviors, these odds ratios attenuated to 1.54 (1.17-2.03) and 1.48 (1.15-1.91) for those groups, respectively. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the presence of more complex determinants of socioeconomic disparities in oral health should be considered with developing preventive policies for those disparities.
Purpose. This study assessed the actual status of oral health behaviors, oral health consciousness and oral health belief with workers at work sites in some regions and would utilize the results of changes in the hygiene status in the oral cavity as basic materials for developing an education program for the oral health promotion of workers at work sites with the implementation of oral health education and oral health promotion program. Methods. The subjects of the study were 106 workers who expressed their intention to participate in a program in SMEs that agreed on the activities of an oral health education program through an education once per week, of the SMEs with less than 500 persons, located in G. City. General characteristics and the questionnaires of the items on the survey were investigated with a self-administered method, and the collected data were statistically analyzed, using SPSS 20.0. Results. As a result of research, it was noted that PHP-Index, the dental plaque index in the oral cavity became lower from 2.02 points to 1.00 point with continuous management and practice of oral promotion behaviors, and that the oral hygiene status improved. Conclusions. In order to promote the oral health of workers at work sites, substantially, it would be necessary to introduce an oral health promotion program they can practice themselves and through continuous education of oral health by assessing their consciousness and the actual status of their oral health behaviors, and it is expected that their oral health would be promoted ultimately by changing workers' oral health behaviors and consciousness.
Objectives: This study aims to provide fundamental data on seeking more effective programs for metabolic syndrome patients' oral health by researching their knowledge, attitude and behaviors on oral health and considering the effects each factor has on the oral health impact profile.
