This study was carried out to acguire some basic information on nutritional and lhysiological effects of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae(VAM) on mulberry trees inoculated with Glomus mosseae, Gerd. & Trap. grown in clay for 65 days and treated with 5 different levels of phosphorus, ie 30, 60, 120, 240, 480 ppm as (NH4)2 HPO4. At the End of the expermental period the levels of fixed phosphate in the soil was measared. And the native VAM fungi were collected to select the most effective VAM species on mulberry tree. The nutritional and biochemical effects of VA mycorrhizae on the mulberry leaves were also studied. Those results are as follow. 1. The mulberry trees grown in clay and inoculated with VAM were heavier in shoot dry weight as much as 197% than uninoculated plants. But in vermioulite, uninoculated mulberry trees were heavier as much as 135% than inoculated. 2. The rates of endo mycorrhizal formation in clay was highest at 60 ppm level of phosphorus, and vesicles in roots were formed in 240ppm and 480ppm level of phosphorus, but not in 30ppm, 60ppm and 120ppm. 3. The greatest growth responses of VAM inoculation was found at 60ppm level of hosphorus, and the optimum phosphorus level for VAM responese appeared to be 60ppm. 4. VAM was also to absorb soil-fixed phosphate. VAM abosrbed Fe-bound phosphate most efficiently and Ca-bound phosphate with ease but not Al-bound phosphate and Al-Fe occluded phosphate. 5. Three species of Gigaspora and one species of Glamus growing naturally in mulberry plantations were collected and tested for the growth responses. Gigaspora tricalipta and Gigaspora calospora revealed the greatest growth responses on mulberry tree among tested VAM fungi. 6. Mulberry leaves inoculated with VA mycorrhizal fungi contained 9.8% more phosphate and 15.2% more nitrogen, 22.2% more water-soluble carbohydrates and 15.2% more proteins than uninoculated plants. 7. The electrophoretic pattern of mulberry leaf protein inoculated with VAM fungi has 19 bands. 8. The patterns of peroxidase zymogram and Amulase zymogram were different between the mulberry leaves inoculated and uninoculated with VA mycorrhizal fungi. The peroxidase zymogram of inoculated leaves has 1 less majour band than unioculated leaves The amylase zymogram of inoculated leaves has 2 bands near the +pole, but that of uninoculated leaves has 1 band near the $pole.
A total of 120 growing crossbred pigs ($Landrace{\times}Large$$White{\times}Duroc$) with equal numbers of barrows and gilts were used in the feeding trial in a $2{\times}3$ factorial arrangement (gender by feeding regimens) to investigate the effect of phase feeding on growth performance during the 25 to 58 kg body weight growth stage, and 6 pigs (three of each sex) were used in a metabolic trial. The growing period was divided into two phases and 4 different CP diets were used to make 3 different feeding regimens (GE18-GL18; 18% CP diets for both early and later growing period, GE18-GL16; 18% CP diet for early and 16% CP diet for later growing period, GE19-GL17; 19% CP diet for early and 17% CP diet for later growing period). There were no significant differences in growth performance among treatments during the entire growing period. However, during the later growing period, feed intake of barrows was significantly higher than that of gilts (p<0.05). Average daily gain of barrows was higher than that of gilts (p>0.05). Based on the result, growth performance differences between barrows and gilts appeared to begin after 40 kg of body weight. There was no significant difference in digestibility among treatments or between sexes. During the early growing period the 18% CP diet showed better digestibility than the 19% CP diet. However, during the later growing period, the 18% and 17% CP diets exhibited similar digestibilities, although 16% CP diet showed slightly lower digestibility than 18% and 17% CP diets. During the early growing period, fecal N and P excretion of pigs fed the 19% CP were higher than that of those fed the 18% CP diet. During later growing period, fecal N and P excretion by those receiving the two phase feeding compared to single phase feeding was reduced by 10.2% and 2.0%, respectively. In the gilts, the cost reduction by two phase feeding (GE18-GL16) compared to single feeding was around 3.81%, but that of barrows was only 0.52%. The results suggested that the same nutrient levels could be applied to barrows and gilts during the growing period. Also, this study suggested the optimum protein and lysine level for early and later growing pigs to be 18% CP, 1.0% lysine and 16% CP, 0.8% lysine, respectively. Feeding two diets to growing pigs, i.e., two-phase feeding, would be more appropriate than feeding a single diet on economic and environmental considerations.
This experiment was conducted to study the optimum energy feeding regimens fur broiler breeders peaked in winter season with 400 caged hens of Ross strain. Four energy supply regimens which were different in daily energy allotment during laying period were employed for 40 weeks from 24 to 64 weeks of age. All experimental diets were formulated to contain 2,750 kcal ME/kg with adjustments made in total feed allotment to provide the desired energy levels. Total consumption of the feed would provide 20 g of protein, 4 g of calcium and 0.35 g of available phosphorus. There were no difference in hen-day egg production and average egg weight among the regimens of energy supply. Feed, ME and feed cost required per egg or per kg egg were significantly increased as the level of energy allotment increased(p<0.05). It was concluded that the energy supply regimen, which supplied 280 kcal ME per day at the age of 24 weeks and then increased the energy supply up to 400 kcal ME per day at the peak period of 30∼34 weeks of age, was superior in feed, ME and feed cost required per egg or per kg egg without any adverse effect on eg production and egg weight.
A long-term (26 weeks) feeding experiment was conducted to examine the essentiality and requirement of inositol in diets for olive flounder because no information is available in the species. Five casein-gelatin based semi-purified diets were formulated to contain four different levels of myo-inositol (0, 0+antibiotic, 400, 800, and 1600 mg/kg, designated as M0, M0+, M400, M800, and M1600, respectively). One (M0+) of the control diets contained tetracycline hydrochloride (0.4%, wt/wt) as an antibiotic to inhibit biosynthesis of inositol by micro-organism in intestine of fish. Olive flounder at the early juvenile stage (initial body weight 1.22 g) were randomly distributed into fifteen 35 L tanks (48 fish/tank) and fed with one of the experimental diets (3 replicates per diet). At the end of the feeding trial, the weight gain, feed intake, specific growth rate, and protein efficiency ratio of fish fed diets containing higher levels of myo-inositol (M800 & M1600) were significantly higher than those of fish fed the other diets (P<0.05). Feed conversion ratio, survival, hematocrits, and hemoglobin of fish fed experimental diets were not significantly different among all the fish groups. Whole body compositions of fish were not different except for lipid content. The lipid content was significantly different between M0 and M400 diet groups. These results indicate that juvenile olive flounder requires dietary supplementation of myo-inositol in diets for normal growth and its optimum level seems to be approximately 800 mg myo-inositol/kg diet.
In Experiment 1, microbial assays were conducted on 57 feed ingredient samples to determine the content of total folic acid using Lactobacillus casei(ATCC 7469). Folic acid contents of feed samples pretreated with conjugase, ${\alpha}$-amylase, and a mixture of protease(Pronase)were corn, 09${\pm}$1.18($\pi$g${\pm}$SD); fish meal, 23.05${\pm}$1.27; milo, 29.34${\pm}$0.55; bakery meal, 25.80${\pm}$6.93; meat and bone meal, 56.76${\pm}$4.97; wheat middlings, 85.14${\pm}$2.56; and soybean meal, 193.97${\pm}$3.98. Experiments 2 and 3 were conducted to determine the effects of dietary supplemental folic acid and methionine on the performance of starting broiler chicks for 18 days. Four levels of dietary folic acid(0.24. 0.54,1.14 and 2.34mg/kg) and four levels of dietary methionine(0.45, 0.53,0.61, and 0.69%) were fed in a factorial design. The basal diet was based on corn, isolated soybean protein, meat and bone meal, and fish meal. It contained adequate amounts of all nutrients except methionine and folic acid in both experiments. Increased growth rate was observed in chicks fed the basal diet supplemented with either folic acid or methionine. Total dietary folic acid and methionine plus cysteine requirements for optimum growth were estimated to be 1.80 mg/kg and 0.89% in Experiment 2, and 1.47 mg/kg and 0.91% in Experiment 3, respectively. There were interactions between dietary folic acid and methionine on weight gain in both experiments. Chicks fed diets containing 2.34 mg folic acid /kg tended to display slow growth rate in both experiments. There was a significant linear feed conversion response to folic acid in Experiment 2, and a significant quadratic feed conversion resuonse to methionine in Experiment 3. There were both linear and quadratic liver folic acid responses to dietary folic acid in both experiments. There was no indication that dietary methionine had any effect on liver folic acid content. The incidence of tibial dyschondroplasia increased with increasing supplemental methionine, but were no significant differences detected at 5% level.

The "tang[tɑ:ŋ]" in Korean pronounciation means the beverage made of boiled medicinal herbs. The"Jeho-tang", the name of Drink in this abstract, is described in a variety of medical books including the "Dongeui Bogam" as being effective for illness from the summer heat in promoting digestion, curing the heatstroke and bringing it to a halt. The Drink was used as the Royal gifts granted to retainers and royal families on the Day of Dano-festival on the fifth of the fifth month of the year according to the lunar calendar, the items of encouragement for those who worked hard in sacrifices, and the awards for students of Confucianism who were proficient in their learning. The Jeho-tang used in this study was scientifically cooked again after a long time in history through looking at the methods written in the documents concerned with the Drink such as the "Dongeui Bogam" and the "Taste of Korea". In preparation of the medicinal herbs for the Drink, the powder of thinner than 30 mesh of the "Prunus mume", which is a species of Asian plum in the family of Rosaceae, and those of 50 mesh of the "Santalum album", which is the fragrant wood of trees in the genus Santalum and the "Amomum Xanthioides", which is produced in Vietnam and is the name of a kind of herb medicines, being very effective in the desease caused from heatstrare, were used. The sugar concentration of the honey boiled down long time at low heat was $82.43^{\circ}Bx$. When cooking in a double boiler, the inner part of the liquid for the Drink was kept at $80^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours to make it finished in a state of ointment. In the general composition of the finished Jeho-tang, the moisture content was 24.4%, 1.3% of crude fat, 1.4% crude protein and 0.7% ash, along with pH3.2. The acceptance on the whole was come out to be the highest in the sample diluted with the drinking water of 7-fold of the Jeho-tang, indicating that the 7-fold's addition of water was optimum level for drinking. In the Drink cooked by a vaccum pressure extractor for herb medicine, which was developed to improve the art of cooking, the longer the time of pressure was, the less the heterogeneous feeling at tongue was and the more the glossiness of the Drink was. The Jeho-tang cooked under pressure for 7 hours received an excellent evaluation in its acceptability in every way.
This study was conducted to detect the serum antibodies in the experimentally toxoplasma infected dogs and street dogs by use the of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). And this test was performed on the polystylene microplate by coating with the tachyzoites soluble antigen of T gondii (RH strain), incubated with sera diluted then, added with HPO-conjugated rabbit anti-dog IgG and o-phenylenediamine used as a substrate. Tachyzoites of T gondii harvested from mouse peritoneal cavity were purified by 30, 40 and 50% Percoll density gradient centrifugation and used as the source of antigen. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. The highest ratio of positive to negative (P/N ratio) was obtained at the level of $l{\mu}g/ml$ protein concentration of antigen with the 1/4000 dilution of the conjugate measured by checker-board titration. It was regarded as the optimum concentration of the antigen and conjugate. 2. Cut-off value in this IgG ELISA was 0.375 that was determined by mean absorbance (at 492nm) of IFA negative serum added with the dauble value of the standard deviation $(mean{\pm}2S.D.)$. 3. Serum ELISA IgG antibodies to T gondii in the exyerimentally infected dogs were detected firstly at the Week 3 after inoculation and the highest titer was recognized at the Week 4, 5 and 6 after inoculation. 4. Stability of the antigen absorbed in the microplates that were preserved at $4^{\circ}C$ and $-25^{\circ}C$ separately were prolonged up to 3 weeks and 10 weeks at $4^{\circ}C$ and $-25^{\circ}C$, respectively. However the reproducibility was not reliable after the preservation of 4 weeks and longer. 5. Positive rate of the specific antibodies in 312 test sera was 28.5% and there was no significant differences between the male (27.8%) and female (29.5%), respectively. 6. The IgG ELISA was proved to be a specific procedure for the detection of antibodies to canine toxoplasma infection and also evaluated as a screening test for the large scale of test samples in laboratory.
Flavor modifing effects of ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$ on the flavor of Chungkookjang(Korean traditional fermented bean paste) were investigated with varied substitution levels of 10, 20, and 30%. The 20% substituted sample groups showed significantly lower amount of protein and ash contents compared to those of control. The L value of brightness had significantly the largest value of 53.99 with 30% substituted sample group, and lower a and b values. Internal structures of control group observed using the scanning electronic microscope, had irregular round type shape with viscous materials, and they had tendencies to be less rough and organized making even and ordered internal cell structures as the substituted levels were increased. Results of sensory characteristics showed significantly lower off-odor and salty flavor with the 20% substituted sample groups compared to those of control. Results of this study showed the possibilities of flavor moderating effects of ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$ when it was used as one of the flavor modifier of the Chungkookjang. Future studies of finding the optimum level of substitution is further required.
The changes of approximate composition, antioxidant activity and melatonin content in rapeseed were monitored during 10 days germination to choose the optimum sprouts with beneficial functionalities. The moisture content of seeds increased from 3.23% to 17.50% during 10 days germination period, while ash content was similar (4.03~4.91%). The fat content was reduced from 38.18% to 22.65%, however, protein content increased from 21.43% to 26.72%. The carbohydrate content increased from 32.71% to 35.84% at 8th day. The reducing sugar and fiber contents reached 10.47% and 15.12% at 6th day from 4.04% and 12.82%, respectively. Eighth day sprouts contained highest level of polyphenol (gallic acid equivalent, 19.2 g/kg). Germination increased antioxidant activities (trolox equivalent, mmol/kg) of seeds with slight difference depending on assay. That is, antioxidant activity was highest at 6th day in DPPH radical scavenging (55.9), 10th day both in ABTS radical scavenging (71.6) and Fe(III) reducing (125.3), and 4th day in peroxy radical scavenging (116.7) assay. Melatonin content of seeds ($0.85{\mu}g/kg$) also increased and reached up to $14.93{\mu}g/kg$ at 6th day. In conclusion, germination more than 4 days raised antioxidant activity of seeds highly, and 6th day sprouts had additional benefit in terms of melatonin, reducing sugar and crude fiber contents.
This research was conducted to investigate the effective methods for browning inhibition on yam (Dioscorea aimadeimo) during dehydration by physical and chemical pretreatments. Moisture, crude protein, crude fiber and N-free extract contents of yam were 81.17%, 1.43%, 0.29% and 15.81%, respectively. Yams were sliced to 0.5 cm thickness and placed to single and poly layer in plastic tray, and then changes of their weights were measured during air dehydration at $50^{\circ}C,\;65^{\circ}C,\;and\;80^{\circ}C$. The dehydration time reaching to optimum moisture level for the pulverization of the yam slices were 10, 6, 3 hours(single layered) and 12, 7, 5 hours(multi layered) at the respective temperature. To inhibit browning at $80^{\circ}C$ air dehydration, water and steam blanching, microwave treatment effects were investigated on yam slices for 30 sec. and 60 sec. Steam blanching for 30 sec. was comparatively effective to inhibit browning of yam slices. Yam slices were immersed in single and combined browning inhibitor solutions and evaluated for browing degree during dehydration by the values of Hunter L, a, b and ${\Delta}E$. The most effective pretreatment to inhibit browning of yam slices was immersion In the solution containing 500 ppm of citric acid and 1000 ppm of cysteine for 1 min.

1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
