강관의 Guillotine 전단날 형상 설계 (Shape Design of Guillotined Shear Cutters for Steel Pipes)

  • The guillotined cutting process for the pipe was studied in this paper. Until now guillotining mechanism can not be practically applied in the industries because of the deformation of sheared section around cutting area, the coarse sheared surface, and the burs. To find optimum shapes of blade, several types of blade were experimentally studied. The cutting force normal to the axial direction of the pipe was compared with the theoretical result based on the cutting energy. The experimental maximum cutting forces were very good agreement with the theoretical results. It also discussed that the design parameters of guillotining system such as the blade shape and the clearance between the blade and the die made effects to the deformation of the cutting cross section area. The results show that the guillotining method can be applicable to the pipe cutting system by optimizing the blade shape and the clearance between the blade and the die of the guillotined cutting system with respect to the sheared pipe material.

단순 기어형상의 셰이빙가공에 있어서 작업 변수의 영향 (Influence of Working Variables in Simplified Gear Shaving Process)

  • Shaving technology is one of the significant metal forming technologies which can make the smooth and fine sheared surface of products after shearing process. The sheared surface on the side wall of the cutting edge is very important because it functions as a basic surface for measuring the dimensions of product. Effective sheared surface after shaving can be influenced by several working variables such as shaving allowance, shaving clearance, type of material and profile of cutting edge. The influence of these variables on shaving characteristics was investigated in this study. A cut-off die to make the simplified gear-shaped products was manufactured. Three kinds of sheet metals (AL5052, SPCC and SAPH440) of 3mm thickness were firstly sheared and then shaved for four shaving allowances and three sharing clearances. It was shown through experiments that the optimum working condition to give the maximum effective sheared surface in shaving was found ; Shaving allowance is 0.2mm and Shaving clearance is 0.01mm.

  • The aim of this study was to improve extrudability limit, eliminate welding line and obtain optimum thixoextrusion conditions for manufacturing tubes of 7075 Al wrought alloy. By thixoextrusion, it was possible to improve deformability, control isotropy with extrusion direction, eliminate welding line (seamless) and save cost due to low energy consumption compared with conventional extrusion processes. The welded part was not observed at the welding line area. The grains of thixoextruded tube were homogeneously distributed and equiaxed grains were observed. Therefore, thixoextrusion is the most effective variable for the control of the magnitude of the welding line.

3D 프린팅시스템과 CAM시스템을 활용한 금형가공에 관한 연구 (Research on Die Machining using 3D Printing and CAM System)

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate optimum machining conditions to improve the quality of die using the CAD/CAM system(Power Shape/Power Mill) and 3D printing. Surface roughness is widely used as an index for processing degree of accuracy. The Power Shape was used to model the shape of product. And the model shape is confirmed by 3D printing system(BFB-3000). Also, tool path and NC-codes were generated using Power Mill. Finally, the product was cut using CNC machine(NBS-2025). The cutting time and surface roughness were measured by measuring instrument. And then this process was repeated by changing the conditions to find optimal machining conditions. The surface roughness behavior with regard to specific factors were analyzed. Through this study, the optimal machining condition can be obtained.

플라스티신을 이용한 롱넥 플랜지 냉간 단조 공정의 모사 실험 (Experiment of tong-neck Flange Cold Forging Process Using Plasticine)

  • The cold forging process to produce a long-neck flange is investigated by using model material test. The two stage process with optimum design condition is examined using plasticine, which is suitable to model steel at room temperature. The similarity theory is employed to estimate the forging load of each sequence by strict application of similarity condition between steel(AISI 1015) and plasticine material The model test results are compared with the simulation results and shows good agreement. The proper forging process with least forming energy can be resulted in $25^{\circ}$ of extrusion semi-die angle.

  • The sheet formability can be improved by the optimum drawbeads installation because draw-beads can control the flow of the metal into the die cavity when the punch enters into the die opening, In this study the drawing characteristics for step drawbead are analyzed by 2-D rigid -plastic FEM and also are measured experimentally. In addition for the validity of FEM theoretical results are compared with the experimental results. Especially the draw bead restrain-ing forces and the strain distributions of drawn specimens are obtained in both FEM and experiment. Also the effects of the drawbead dimensions drawing angles and blank holding forces on the drawing characteristics are investigated.

  • For optimal injection molding, various molding conditions should be combined well. Therefore, engineers should be thoroughly familiar with mold design, fabrication, and injection molding. The choice of resin among the various molding conditions is closely related to the productivity of the molded part and the deformation after molding, so the engineer must select the appropriate resin. Engineers work on the basis of data provided by resin manufacturers during molding. However, in actual molding work, it is necessary to apply values slightly different from those provided to obtain molded articles of desired performance. In this study, various deformations of molded products were compared with respect to crystalline resin and amorphous resin when molded according to the data provided by the resin maker and molded at the changed values at the work site.

이축 압출 성형기를 이용한 붉은자루 동충하초의 압출 성형 (Extrusion-cooking Using Twin-screw Extruder on Cordyceps Pruinosa)

  • The extrusion-cooking condition on Cordyceps pruinosa was designed using twin-screw extruder. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to investigate extrusion-cooking using a central composition design with varying die temperature $(114-146^{\circ}C)$, feed moisture $(22-38\%)$, feed rate (4-14 ka/h) and screw speed (120-280 rpm). System parameters (die pressure and specific mechanical energy (SME)) and extrudate parameters (density and water solubility index (WSI)) were statically analyzed using RSH. Die pressure was significantly affected by temperature, moisture contents and feed rate. SM was affected by screw speed and feed rate. When die temperature is $130^{\circ}C$ and moisture content $25\%$, the optimum pressure is shown. SME is about 20 Wh/kg, when feed rate is $10\~12kg/min$ and screw speed $200\~250rpm$. WSI was affected by temperature and moisture contents. Density was not affected by any factor. WSI increases by $7\%$ from about $23\%$ to about $30\%$, as temperature is raised from $120^{\circ}C\;to\;140^{\circ}C$. The WSI of Cordyceps pruinosa pulverized after extruding (PE) is about $26.97\%$ higher than that of raw material and $10\%$ higher than that of pulverized after drying (PD). The content of unsaturated fatty acid were not significantly different in PD and PE. Anti-oxidative activity of PE was 1.67-2.2 times higher than that of PD in Cordyceps pruinosa using 1- dipheny1-2-picrylhydrazyl method (DPPH).

Effect of Moisture Content of Sawdust and Length to Diameter Ratio of a Hole in Flat-die Pelletizer on The Fuel Characteristics of Wood Pellets Produced with Quercus mongolica, Pinus densiflora, Pinus rigida and Larix kaempferi

  • This study was conducted to identify the potential of Quercus mongolica (QUM), Pinus densiflora (PID) and Pinus rigida (PIR) as a raw material for pellet production. Larix kaempferi (LAK), which has mostly been used for pellet production in Korea, was also used as a control. All specimens contained very minimal amounts of sulfur and chlorine. Ash content of LAK was the lowest, followed by PID, PIR and QUM. For the size distribution, the mass fraction between 0.42 mm and 0.25 mm was the highest in PIR. Most fuel characteristics of the produced wood pellets improved with the use of 12% moisture content (MC) particles and the increase of the ratio of length to diameter of a hole in flat-die (L/D ratio). When the MC, bulk density and durability of QUM, PID, PIR and LAK pellets was compared with the standards of the KFRI and ISO, the use of wood particles of 12% MC and flat-die with an L/D ratio of 5.00 for PID particles are suitable for high-quality pellets in the aspects of all fuel characteristics. For PIR and QUM, further work is needed to seek the optimum conditions for the production of high-quality and durable pellets.

  • Shrink-rings (stress-rings) are used in the fabrication of compaction dies to increase the allowable pressures for a given die material. This paper proposes a new approach, where the maximum allowable shrinking pressures are calculated on shrinked plans in the radial direction and then the fractional fitting pressures below the maximum shrinking pressures are used as the design values. A computer program, DIECAD, is developed. The paper presents two design cases as examples in order to easily illustrate the design procedures from the computer program DIECAD
