  • Providing Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantee requires the reservation of resource needed to accommodate the traffic flow of service for which resource reservation protocol (RSVP) was introduced. However, if any RSVP-capable router on the path fails to accommodate the traffic flow due to lack of resource, the flow is not allowed no matter how much surplus resources other routers on the path have. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a resource reservation method with available resource migration between RSVP-capable routers in which the routers use the recently developed latency optimized fair queuing scheduler. The results of the simulation applying the proposed method to an evaluation network show that it may yield the gain of up to 165% compared to that in the original one in terms of the number of admitted flows.

  • The tactical network has several different characteristics compared with commercial internet network such as hierarchical topology, dynamic topology changing and wireless link based connectivity. For considering IP mobility management in the tactical network, current mobility management using Mobile IP(MIP) is not suitable with some reasons such as non-optimal routing paths and single point of failure. Proxy Mobile IP(PMIP) which supporting network-based mobility in hierarchical manner can provide optimal routing path in the tactical network environment, but centralized anchor is still remained a threat to the stability of the tactical network which changes its topology dynamically. In this paper, we propose PMIP-based distributed mobility management for the tactical network environment. From our design, routing paths are always configured in optimized way, as well as path is recovered quickly when the mobility anchor of user is failed. From numerical analysis, comparing to other mobility scheme, result shows that the proposed scheme can reduce packet transmission cost and latency in tactical network model.

  • Multipath Transport Control Protocol (MPTCP) is a transport layer protocol that enables multiple TCP connections across various paths. Due to path heterogeneity, it incurs more energy in a multipath wireless network. Recent work presents a set of approaches described in the literature to support systems for energy consumption in terms of their performance, objectives and address issues based on their design goals. The existing solutions mainly focused on the primary system model but did not discourse the overall system performance. Therefore, this paper capitalized a novel stochastically multipath scheduling scheme for data and path capacity variations. The scheduling problem formulated over MPTCP as a stochastic optimization, whose objective is to maximize the average throughput, avoid network congestion, and makes the system more stable with greater energy efficiency. To design an online algorithm that solves the formulated problem over the time slots by considering its mindrift-plus penalty form. The proposed solution was examined under extensive simulations to evaluate the anticipated stochastic optimized MPTCP (so-MPTCP) outcome and compared it with the base MPTCP and the energy-efficient MPTCP (eMPTCP) protocols. Simulation results justify the proposed algorithm's credibility by achieving remarkable improvements, higher throughput, reduced energy costs, and lower-end to end delay.

  • Under Water Sensor Networks (UWSN) has gained attraction among various communities for its potential applications like acoustic monitoring, 3D mapping, tsunami detection, oil spill monitoring, and target tracking. Unlike terrestrial sensor networks, it performs an acoustic mode of communication to carry out collaborative tasks. Typically, surface sink nodes are deployed for aggregating acoustic phenomena collected from the underwater sensors through the multi-hop path. In this context, UWSN is constrained by factors such as lower bandwidth, high propagation delay, and limited battery power. Also, the vulnerabilities to compromise the aquatic environment are in growing numbers. The paper proposes an Energy-Efficient standalone Intrusion Detection System (EEIDS) to entail the acoustic environment against malicious attacks and improve the network lifetime. In EEIDS, attributes such as node ID, residual energy, and depth value are verified for forwarding the data packets in a secured path and stabilizing the nodes' energy levels. Initially, for each node, three agents are modeled to perform the assigned responsibilities. For instance, ID agent verifies the node's authentication of the node, EN agent checks for the residual energy of the node, and D agent substantiates the depth value of each node. Next, the classification of normal and malevolent nodes is performed by determining the score for each node. Furthermore, the proposed system utilizes the sheep-flock heredity algorithm to validate the input attributes using the optimized probability values stored in the training dataset. This assists in finding out the best-fit motes in the UWSN. Significantly, the proposed system detects and isolates the malicious nodes with tampered credentials and nodes with lower residual energy in minimal time. The parameters such as the time taken for malicious node detection, network lifetime, energy consumption, and delivery ratio are investigated using simulation tools. Comparison results show that the proposed EEIDS outperforms the existing acoustic security systems.

  • In a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), the wireless data transmission environment plays an important role in system performance. In the proposed mobility model moving distance of sensor nodes has a great influences on communication performance. Transmission/receiving distance (d), path loss (L), sensitivity, Bit Error Rate (BER), Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) are considerations when designing a wireless communication system. MANET is a form of network in which only wireless terminals communicate with each other independently and move without any assistance of an existing infrastructure network. This paper is research on the optimized power usage method which is study on the effect of the moving distance of mobile nodes on the overall energy efficiency of the system in WSN. The purpose of this study is to extend the life of the entire network by proposing the mobile distance of sensor nodes within the communication available range.

  • The adhesive strength can be improved through surface treatment. The most common method is to improve physical bonding by varying the surface conditions. This study presents the effect of laser surface treatment on the adhesive strength of CFRP. The surface roughness was patterned using a 1064 nm laser. The effects of the number of laser shots and the direction and length of the pattern on the adhesion of the CFRP/CFRP single joint were investigated through tensile tests. Tests according to ASTM D5868 were performed, and the bonding mechanism was determined by analyzing the damaged surface after a fracture. The optimized number of the laser shots and the optimized depth of the roughness should be required to increase the bonding strength on the CFRP surface. When considering the shear stress in the tensile direction, the roughness pattern in the direction of 45° that increases the length of the fracture path in the adhesive layer resulted in an increase of the adhesive strength. The surface treatment of the bonding surface using a laser is a suitable method to acquire a mechanical bonding mechanism and improve the bonding strength of the CFRP bonding joint. The study on the optimized laser process parameters is required for utilizing the benefits of laser surface processing.

  • This paper proposed a mobile multicast technique to satisfy end-to-end QoS for various user requirements in mobile network environment. In order to provide seamless mobility, fast handoff technique was applied. By using L2 mobile trigger, it was possible to minimize remarkable amount of packet loss by delay occurred during handoff. To provide efficient multicast, concept of hierarchy was introduced to Xcast++, which results in a creation of HXcast++. HXcast++ optimized transfer path of multicast and reduced expensive multicast maintenance costs caused by frequent handoff. Suggestion of GMA (Group Management Agent) mechanism allows joining to group immediately without waiting IGMP Membership query during handoff. GMA mechanism will minimize the delay for group registration process and the resource usage due to delay of withdrawal process. And also use of buffering & forwarding technique minimized packet loss during generation of multicast tree. IntServ/RSVP was used to provide End-to-End QoS in local domain and DiffServ was used in global domain. To minimize reestablishment of RSVP session delay, extended HXcast++ control messages ware designed to require PATH message. HXcast++ proposed in this thesis is defined as multicast technique to provide end-to-end QoS and also to satisfy various user requirements in mobile network environment.

  • Improvements in the standard of living and lifestyle have led to increased sales of frozen milk products, such as soft ice cream or slush. These frozen milk products are commonly made in a small refrigeration machine. In a soft ice cream machine, the freezer is composed of a concentric cylinder, where the refrigerant flows in the annul us and the ice cream is made in the cylinder by a rotating scraper. In this study, an optimization and performance evaluation were conducted on a soft ice cream machine having a freezer volume of 2.8 liters. The optimization was focused on the scraper rotation speed and the refrigerant path of the freezer. The measurements included the temperature, pressure and consumed power. At the optimized speed of 124 rpm, ice cream was produced in 6 minutes and 2 seconds, and the COP was 0.90. Through a flow visualization study using air-water, the refrigerant path was improved. The improved design reduced the ice cream making time significantly. The present results may be used for the optimization of other refrigeration cycles, including those of frozen food products.

  • As XML is gaining unqualified success in being adopted as a universal data representation and exchange format, particularly in the World Wide Web, the problem of querying XML documents poses interesting challenges to database researcher. Several structural XML query processing methods, including XISS and XR-tree, for past years, have been proposed for fast query processing. However, structural XML query processing has the problem of requiring expensive Join cost for twig path query Recently, sequence matching based XML query processing methods, including ViST and PRIX, have been proposed to solve the problem of structural XML query processing methods. Through sequence matching based XML query processing methods match structured queries against structured data as a whole without breaking down the queries into sub queries of paths or nodes and relying on join operations to combine their results. However, determining the structural relationship of ViST is incorrect because its numbering scheme is not optimized. And PRIX requires many processing time for matching LPS and NPS about XML data trees and queries. Therefore, in this paper, we propose efficient sequence matching method u sing the bottom-up query processing for efficient XML query processing. Also, to verify the superiority of our index structure, we compare our sequence matching method with ViST and PRIX in terms of query processing with linear path or twig path including wild-card('*' and '//').

  • A flow channel shape of PEMFC has an influence on the internal flow uniformity. If the reactant distribution in a flow path is not uniform during operation, both catalyst deactivation and mechanical damage of membrane could occur resulting in decreasing the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) durability. Numerous studies concerning flow design have been conducted to make smooth supply and uniform distribution of reactants in fuel cells. The baffle of flow path could improve fuel cell performance through the forced convection effect. A sub-channel, as an additional air flow path, could increase the reactant concentration and reduce the mass transfer loss via a smooth water discharge. In this study, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to analyze the effect of blocks and sub-channels on the current density and oxygen concentration of the fuel cell. As a result, the limit current density and oxygen concentration at a rear block increased when using blocks and sub-channels in a flow channel. In particular, the current density increased significantly when the sub-channel was placed between two blocks. Also, the sub-channel position was optimized by analyzing the oxygen concentration, and the oxygen concentration was recovered at a rear block in the fuel cell.
