For the micro-lithography using a KrF excimer laser beam(λ=0.248${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) a mirror system consisting of four spherical surfaces with reduction magnification 5$\times$ is designed. Initially the aplanat condition of the mirror system is considered. And for the further improved performance of the system the distortion free condition and flat field condition within Seidel 3rd order aberrations are added to the above condition. During the process of designing the computer-aided optimization technique is extensively employed. The spherical aberration, coma, field curvature and distortion of the optimized four-spherical mirror system are removed to the diffraction limit, and residual astigmatism and off-axial vignetting are not corrected enough.

Working condition is one of the most important factors in precision working. In this study, we optimized the vibration acceleration of working progress direction using RSM(response surface methodology) by table of orthogonal array. RSM was well adapted to make analytic model for minimizing vibration acceleration, created the objective function and saved a great deal of computational time. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed optimization procedure using RSM can be easily utilized to solve the optimization problem of working condition. The experimental results of the surface roughness and vibration acceleration showed the validity of the proposed working condition of side wall end-milling as it can be observed.

This paper proposed the algorithm to select optimal grinding condition for plunge grinding in the batch production unit. In order to apply to the proposed algorithm, the state variable for plunge grinding process was defined and the optimal grinding condition for each cycle in batch production was decided by genetic algorithm. Based on the optimized grinding condition in each cycle, the optimal grinding condition for whole batch production was selected by dynamic programming. The proposed algorithm was evaluated by computer simulation.
A Pseudomonas putida strain able to accumulate high amount of polyesters of medium-chain-length 3-hydroxyalkanoic acids ($PHA_{MCL)$) was isolated from soil in a landfill site using an enrichment technique. Culture condition of the isolated strain for polyester production in a one-step culture was optimized in a mineral-salts medium against pH and concentrations of ammonium sulfate, carbon source(e.g., octanoate), and phosphate. The optimal values for maximal cell growth and PHA accumulation were: pH; 7$\sim$8, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$; 8 mM, octanoate; 40 mM. The optimum temperature was in the range of $20\sim30^{\circ}C$, which was rather broader than in other bacteria. Cell growth was strongly inhibited by the phosphate limitation to less than 1 mM. An increase of phosphate concentration above 1 mM showed little effect on cell growth and polyester accumulation. When the strain was grown on octanoate under this optimized condition it produced 3.4 g dry biomass per liter and yielded 1.7 g PHA per liter amounting to 53 wt% of dry cells. The monomer units composing the polyester synthesized from octanoate were 3-hydroxyoctanoate (3HO), 3-hydroxycaproate (3HC), and 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) (85:13:2, mole ratio). Other low linear $C_3\simC_{10}$ monocarboxylic acids were also tested for polyester production.
Much interest has been recently focused on the production of large quantities of hydrogen, due to its potential importance in our economy and needs in the petroleum and chemical industries. Formate dehydrogenase H (FDH-H) from Escherichia coli containing selenocysteine that oxidizes formate to carbon dioxide with the release of hydrogen is a component of the anaerobic formate hydrogen-lyase complex of E. coli. To make full use of FDH-H, we need effective expression condition. In this approach, we investigated the effect of pH on FDH-H stability and observed the effect of selenite and formate concentration on the activity of FDH-H. Additionally, coexpression of selenocysteine insertion genes were tried to improve the expression of FDH-H. The highest level of FDH-H expression was achieved by coexpression of selenocysteine insertion genes (pSUABC) as well as by the addition of $10\;{\mu}M$ selenite and 10 mM formate. At this optimized condition, a 2.6 fold elevation of expression of FDH-H was achieved.

A new micro reformer system consisted of a micro reformer, a microcombustor and a micro evaporator was studied experimentally and computationally. In order to satisfy the primary requirements for designing the microcombustor integrated with a micro evaporator, i.e. stable burning in a small confinement and maximum heat transfer through a wall, the present microcombustor is simply cylindrical to be easily fabricated but two-staged (expanding downstream) to feasibly control ignition and stable burning. Results show that the aspect ratio and wall thickness of the microcombustor substantially affect ignition and thermal characteristics. For the optimized design conditions, a premixed microflame was easily ignited in the expanded second stage combustor, moved into the smaller first stage combustor, and finally stabilized therein. A micro reformer system integrated with a modified microcombustor based on the optimized design condition was fabricated. For a typical operating condition, the designed micro reformer system produced 22.3 sccm hydrogen (3.61 W in LHV) in an overall efficiency of 12%.

Spindle design is very important for the improvement of the competitive power in production cost of high quality machine tools. The important factor in spindle design is not only to improve the natural frequency of spindle but also to reduce displacement of spindle end. In this paper, parameters those influence on static and dynamic stiffness of high-speed spindle have selected form preceding studies. And those selected parameters are applied to Taguchi Method. To perform FEM analysis, bearing conditions are selected with optimized condition. To know how to improve static and dynamic stiffness of machine tool spindle, natural frequency and displacement of spindle end are obtained by FEM analysis. The Taguchi Method was used to draw optimized condition of bearing position and it's stiffness. From these results, amplitude of vibration is enough good less than $3{\mu}m$ pk-pk of the spindle of 40,000rpm manufactured in this work by the optimal design.

Recently many research are going on in the field of application of Laser and Laser-Arc hybrid welding for superstructures such as ship-structures, transport vehicles etc. Therefore in this study an optimized welding condition and numerical simulation for hybrid welding by using previous numerical analysis which is used to calculate the heat source for Laser and Laser-Arc hybrid welding has been analyzed. For this purpose, fundamental welding phenomena of hybrid process(Laser+MIG) are determined based on the experiments. In order to calculate temperature and residual stress distribution in Laser and Laser-Arc hybrid welds, finite element heat source model is developed on the basis of experiment results and characteristics of temperature and residual stress distribution in Laser and Laser-Arc hybrid welds are understood from the result of simulation and found comparable to the experimental values.
Missile am fighter aircraft have been challenged by low restoring nose-down pitching moment at high angle of attach. The consequence of weak nose-down pitching moment can be resulting in a deep stall condition. Especially, the pressure oscillation has a huge effect on noise generation, structure damage, aerodynamic performance and safety, because the flow has strong unsteadiness at high angle of attack. In this paper, the unsteady aerodynamics coefficients were analyzed at high angle of attack up to 60 degrees around two dimensional NACA0012 airfoil. The two dimensional unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equation with a LES turbulent model was calculated by OHOC (Optimized High-Order Compact) scheme. The flow conditions are Mach number of 0.3 and Reynolds number of $10^5$. The lift, drag, pressure distribution, etc. are analyzed according to the angle of attack. The results at a low angle of attack are compared with other results before a stall condition. From a certain high angle of attack, the strong vortex formed by the leading edge are flowing downstream as like Karman vortex around a circular cylinder. Unsteady velocity field, periodic vortex shedding, the unsteady pressure distribution on the airfoil surface, and the acoustic fields are analyzed. The effects of these unsteady characteristics in the aerodynamic coefficients are analyzed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to design a systematic method to estimate optimal operation conditions of design variables for an electronic device alignment system. Method: The 2-level factorial design and the central composite design are used in order to plan experiments. Based on the experiment results, a regression model is established to find optimal conditions for the design variables. Results: 3 of 5 design variables are selected as major factors that affect the alignment system significantly. The optimized condition for each variable is estimated by using a sequential experiment plan and a quadratic regression model. Conclusion: The method designed in this study provides an efficient and systematic plan to select the optimized operation condition for the design variables. The method is expected to improve inspection accuracy of the system and reduce the development cost and period.
