  • In this study, it is attempted to obtain the optimized size of holes in 15 square plate models where a hole exists on every quadrant of a plate, and to get eigenvalues and mode shapes by performing free vibration analysis for each model. For free vibration analysis and optimization of' hole sizes, the uniaxial tension is applied for the loading condition. From the results of this study, it is known that more stable structures can be designed by changing the natural frequency depending on the location and the optuiiunl size of holes. and further studies are considered to be necessary for the basic design information.

Ant lion optimizer for optimization of finite perforated metallic plate

  • Minimizing the stress concentration around hypotrochoid hole in finite metallic plates under in-plane loading is an important consideration in engineering design. In the analysis of finite metallic plate, the effective factors on stress distribution around holes include curvature radius of the corner of the hole, hole orientation, plate's aspect ratio, and hole size. This paper aims to investigate the impact of these factors on stress analysis of finite metallic plate with central hypotrochoid hole. To obtain the lowest value of stress around a hypotrochoid hole, a swarm intelligence optimization method named ant lion optimizer is used. In this study, with the hypothesis of plane stress circumstances, analytical solution of Muskhelishvili's complex variable method and conformal mapping is employed. The plate is taken into account to be finite, isotropic and linearly elastic. By applying suitable boundary conditions and least square boundary collocation technique, undefined coefficients of stress function are found. The results revealed that by choosing the above-mentioned factor correctly, the lowest value of stress would be obtained around the hole allowing to an increment in load-bearing capacity of the structure.

  • Electric vehicle body has to be subjected to uniform load and requires auxiliary equipment such as air pipe and electric wire pipe. Especially, the cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments. a lightweight vehicle body is salutary to save operating costs and fuel consumption. Therefore this study is to perform the size and the shape optimization of crossbeam for electric vehicle using the method of topology optimization to introduce the concept of homogenization based on optimality criteria method which is efficient for the problem having the number of design variables and a few boundary condition. this provides the method to determine the optimum position and shape of circular hole in the cross beam and then can achieve the optimal design to reduce weight.

Especially, lightweight vehicle body is salutary to save operating costs and fuel consumption. Cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments and account for the most of weight of vehicle body. Therefore this study performs the size and the shape optimization of crossbeam for electric vehicle using GENESIS 7.0 and presents the effect of mass reduction and the shape of hole in cross beam.

  • In some previous studies, the effect of the microcapillary hole structure in the front dielectric layer was introduced. There have not yet been any report, however, on the detailed study on the discharge characteristics of the hole type, and on the optimization of the microscale hole size. In this study, the discharge characteristics of the microscale hole types in the front dielectric layer in plasma display panels were investigated through plasma numerical simulation. The numerical analysis discussed in this work may shed more light on the discharge mechanism. The modification of the structure of microscale holes is expected to improve the driving voltage and luminance, which may have been due to more energetically charged particles and Xe-excited species, which may in turn have been due to an expanded sheath electric field in the vicinity of the microholes.

Tool path planning of hole-making operations in ejector plate of injection mould using modified shuffled frog leaping algorithm

  • Optimization of hole-making operations in manufacturing industry plays a vital role. Tool travel and tool switch planning are the two major issues in hole-making operations. Many industrial applications such as moulds, dies, engine block, automotive parts etc. requires machining of large number of holes. Large number of machining operations like drilling, enlargement or tapping/reaming are required to achieve the final size of individual hole, which gives rise to number of possible sequences to complete hole-making operations on the part depending upon the location of hole and tool sequence to be followed. It is necessary to find the optimal sequence of operations which minimizes the total processing cost of hole-making operations. In this work, therefore an attempt is made to reduce the total processing cost of hole-making operations by applying relatively new optimization algorithms known as shuffled frog leaping algorithm and proposed modified shuffled frog leaping algorithm for the determination of optimal sequence of hole-making operations. An industrial application example of ejector plate of injection mould is considered in this work to demonstrate the proposed approach. The obtained results by the shuffled frog leaping algorithm and proposed modified shuffled frog leaping algorithm are compared with each other. It is seen from the obtained results that the results of proposed modified shuffled frog leaping algorithm are superior to those obtained using shuffled frog leaping algorithm.

  • 리벳이나 볼트가 결합되는 구멍은 항공기, 선박 및 기타 구조물에 사용되는 판재의 응력 집중을 유발한다. 과도한 응력 집중 현상이 지속되면 종래에는 파단이 일어날 수 있으므로 설계 단계에서 응력 집중 현상의 명확한 해석이 중요하다. 이 논문에서는 판재위에 리벳을 배치하는 간단한 최적화 방법이 제시되었다. 첫째로 응력 집중 현상 해석에서 FEM 구조 해석이 얼마나 정확한지 검증하였다. 평판 위에 존재하는 단일 구멍의 반경을 바꿔가며 응력 집중 계수의 변화를 분석하였다. 같은 방법으로 일렬로 존재하는 구멍들 사이에서의 응력 집중 계수를 수치 해석하였다. 각각의 응력 집중 계수를 이론값과 비교하여 정확도를 확인하였다. 마지막으로 두 응력 집중 현상을 독립적으로 적용하는 최적화 방법을 확인 및 검증하였다. 이 결과들은 이론적인 예측과 밀접한 경향성을 보여 앞으로의 리벳 배치 최적화에도 활용될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

이중 공동의 고유 주파수 최대/최소화를 위한 위상 최적화 기반 격벽 설계 (Topology-optimization-based Partition Design for Maximizing or Minimizing the Eigenfrequency of a Double Cavity)

  • The position and size of holes in the partition of a double cavity are known to strongly affect the eigenfrequency of the longitudinal eigenmodes of the double cavity. To maximize or minimize the eigenfrequency of the hole-partitioned double cavity, two acoustical topology optimization problems are formulated and solved. While two sub-cavities are filled with air, a partition between them is assumed to consist of sub-partitions of variable acoustical properties. One design variable is assigned to each sub-partition, whose material properties are interpolated as those of an intermediate material between air and a rigid body. The penalty parameter of the used interpolation function is adjusted to obtain a distinct air and rigid body distribution at the converged stage in each acoustical topology optimization problem. A special attention is paid to the selection of initial values of design variables to obtain solutions as close to global optimum and symmetric as possible. To show numerical characteristics of these optimization problems, the formulated problems are first solved for the one-dimensional partition design domain and then for the two-dimensional partition design domain.

공정능력을 고려한 체결구 부품의 위치공차 최적화 방법 연구 (A Study on the Optimization of Position Tolerance of Fasteners Considering Process Capability)

  • Designers have to consider voice of customer, process capability, manufacturing standards & condition, manufacturing method and characteristics of products to decide tolerances. Especially, in case of position of hole and pin, designers have to consider process capability to decide tolerances. The traditional position tolerances used in a drawing are theoretical values which are allocated to position under the worst case assembling condition that both hole and pin are the maximum material condition(MMC). However, when the process capability is high, more exact product size can be produced under stable manufacturing condition. Larger clearance of hole and pin can be allocated. In this point of view, manufacturer could increase the yield by allocating larger position tolerance than theoretical position tolerance of hole and pin considering process capability.
